Having 10.1.3 GP Donate installed on my Xperia 1 III, I just noticed the "Manage Waypoints/Tracks/Routes" pages close within seconds basically making it impossible to do anything.
Can't load anything from the lists, can't edit, can't rearange, ....
A pretty severe issue for me!
I can't say exactly when this issue appeared since I haven't used Oruxmaps in a while.
Strange thing is, my wife has the same version of Oruxmaps installed on her Xperia 10 III with no such issues. We have very similar configurations. Both have Android 13 installed.

I have tried to change profiles, create new profiles based on factory profile, restart phone, force close the app and empty the cache, ... nothing...
The only major change I've done recently is to change storage from app private location to root of internal storage, but that I have also done to my wifes instalation.

Any ideas?
I would appreciate if I don't need to reinstall Oruxmaps to make it work.

Thanks!

PS I will try one of my profiles on my wifes installation and one of hers on mine, but it is getting to late in the evening, so another day...

Hi,
Sorry for maybe strange headline, but I had problems formulating my problem in a single, short sentence. I hope I will be able to describe it more understandable below.

So, I have a WMS map that for some reason has it's zoom levels "shifted"  a lot compared to other maps. I know zoom levels are dependent on tile size, but compared to other maps with same tile size the zoom is still off.
My main problem is that I want too combine this WMS as an overlay on another map, but getting strange results due to the differences in zoom levels.
What I would like to do is to "push" the WMS map "down" a couple of zoom levels, say the tiles showing in level 10 should appear on level 15 instead. Is this possible?

The two maps I try to combine can be combined some how, since the  combination is the same as here:
https://lavinprognoser.se/

The overlay WMS is this:
https://nvgis.naturvardsverket.se/geoserver/lavinprognoser/wms
Getcapabilities:
https://nvgis.naturvardsverket.se/geoserver/lavinprognoser/wms?request=getcapabilities
EPSG 3006

Unfortunately the base map contains a private key, so I don't want to share it here, but it's free of charge to use with a free account:
https://opendata.lantmateriet.se/#apis?api=OpenDataWMTS&version=v1
(unfortunately Swedish only)

Hope I made myself clear, otherwise I'm happy to answer any questions if I can.
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
When dealing with dynamic data like weather, one might like to refresh related tiles on a regular basis depending on how often the provider updates their data.
Therefore I would like to request the possibility to tell Oruxmaps to automatically refresh the tiles on a, by the user, set time interval.
the most simple implementation could be an option in the global settings to refresh all tiles on active map(s), but this would force refreshing of tiles for maps not needing it causing unnecessary/redundant downloads, not desirable for many data plans.
Better, but more complicated, would be to activate and set time intervals individually for each map when creating composite maps (I guess the most useful way of using weather tiles together with a base map). So when using a composite map with dynamic data like weather, the weather tiles will refresh regularly while the base map does not (using the weather map without being part of a composite map might be to complicated to make automaticaly refreshable, individually).
What do you say?
(I had some difficulty to find a good way to express my thoughts, I really hope I made myself sufficiently clear.)

Thanks!

Hi,
I just discovered RainViewer and locked at the API page. As it seems, it would be possible to use RainViewer tiles with different maping tools like Oruxmaps. There is only one problem. The URL:s contains the dynamic parameter {ts}, Unix timestamp. For what I know Oruxmaps cannot handle that at the moment.
The list of avaliable timestamps are updated every 10 minutes, contains about 13 timestamps in even 10 minutes increments, including the last occurred.
Would it be possible to implement the functionality to utilize such dynamic URL:s into Oruxmaps?
I understand this can be quite complicated, and I guess the numer of possible dynamic URL:s are virtually endless (not just using Unix timestamps), but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask.

I have just sent an email to the RainViewer support and requested the possibility to load the most recent tiles without any dynamic parameters in the URL.

Thanks!

Hi,

First of, thanks for all hard work you put on the development of this excellent app, and adding a lot of suggested features given by us users!

Quite recently I discovered a small one that I know was requested long ago, and I assume it was added almost equally long ago but without me noticing until now. It's the dashboard control "Height above ground". For us non-commercial pilots it's a good rough indication of ground clearance.

Now to my request:

At the moment "Height above ground" is always using GPS altitude. I would like to be able to use the barometer altitude given by either internal or external barometer. Of course in an aircraft one always have a certified barometric altimeter so one can rather easily make sure the barometric altitude in Oruxmaps to be the same.

Thanks again!

ERRORES/BUGS / Crash when selecting WMTS map
April 30, 2019, 04:01:35 PM
Hi,

I have currently Donation v7.5.1 installed on a rooted Xperia ZL with Android 5.1.1 and noticed that when trying to load my WMTS maps Oruxmaps crashes. On v7.4.22 they worked, don't remember if I tried with v7.5.0.

I have emptied the map cache, app cache and successfuly edited the WMTS entries (removing the automatically added HTTP header "User-Agent" so it would be added back with correct orux version). But none of these actions helped.

ERRORES/BUGS / Graphhopper offline bugged?
March 23, 2019, 12:04:46 PM
Hi,

Just updated to Donate 7.4.17GP. Figured I'd try the Graphhopper offline routing. Downloaded my country (Sweden) and pointed to the folder in settings.

But whatever route I try to create I get "Error searching a route". Even if I just try a short one along the same road.

I sett two points, start and stop, and shortest by car or foot.

The online routing works.

GENERAL / Strange dashboard controls
September 09, 2017, 05:35:01 PM
Hi,

Can someone please explain the seven dashboard controls selected in the attached image and how to make them appear on the dashboard?

I have them selected but they don't appear.

Thanks in advance!

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Persistent GPS mode
September 09, 2017, 04:54:44 PM
Hi,

I would like the 'GPS mode' to be persistent for profiles if possible, i.e. if I selected 'fast' last time I used oruxmaps it would stay like that every time I used orux with that profile.

Thanks!

GENERAL / Barometer calibration while recording track
September 09, 2017, 01:39:13 PM
Hi,

How does oruxmaps handle barometer calibration "behind the scenes" while recording track?

I believe I have read about it long ago, but can't find where.

IIRC that description implied that the entire segment between the last preformed calibration and the present one got corrected linearly, like in my first attached image.

But when I tried it a few days ago using latest 7.1.4 Donate it appears calibration doesn't affect the track at all. I got a jump in the vertical track as can be seen in my second image at approx. 1.2km (elevation in red, slope in green).

I would prefer a method like described in the first image because that way most of any linear change in airpressure and temperature would be removed.

Hi,

I would like to suggest to implement a way to disable the "GPS Tracking on/off" and similar displays. Or at least rework it.

It gets in the way whenever I like to quickly measure a distance fom my GPS fix. It actually takes several seconds before it disappears, when the actual measurement only takes roughly one. If you are driving or otherwise traveling fast compared to walking, it might affect the result quite much. In addition, when driving you shall not let the phone occupie more of your time than absolutely necessary (the waiting and irritation fom not being able to read the measurements instantly).

I attached a screen dump to give you an idea what I mean. I use the latest donation version to date.

Otherwise thanks for the best maping app there is!

ERRORES/BUGS / Sorting dashboard controls
August 20, 2017, 08:11:40 PM
Hi,

When creating a new profile in 7.1.0 donate to visualize another issue (TMG offset), I found it very hard to sort the dashboard controls. The sorting didn't always stick, it appears to be dependent on how I moved the controls upp and down in the list, but could not find a pattern. But eventually after a lot of trying I managed to get it as I wanted it.

I don't know at what OM version this issue appeared, it's a long time i configured the dashboard last time, but I didn't experience any difficulty then.

ERRORES/BUGS / TMG angle offset
August 20, 2017, 07:49:25 PM
Hi,

I noticed that the TMG line always has an angle offset. To me it appears like this offset is the TC + declination, but it's only my guess.

I have taken a screen dump of OM with heading and TC on the dashboard (don't bother about the compass values), a pic of that road section and a screen dump from another application (FlyIsFun, other road section) with a correct TMG for comparison it's not my device causing the offset somehow.

MAPAS/MAPS / Limitations for multimaps?
July 10, 2017, 04:36:29 PM
So, I know it has been implemented to create offline multimaps, but is there a reason why a combination of online and offline maps isn't implemented?

I cant find any information about this.

Also, why can't I use all my offline maps as part of multimaps? I have several maps I like to combine but they are not in the drop-down list of available maps when making multimaps.

If it's about projections, would it be possible to select any offline map as basemap, and after that only select maps with the same projection as overlays?

And I really would like to use geoPDFs (added to OM 7.0.14) as overlays, but the one geoPDF I have working doesn't show in the drop-down list either.

Any clarification about these things would be appreciated.

ERRORES/BUGS / GeoPDF in 7.0.14 donate version
July 09, 2017, 10:15:48 PM
Hi

I was delighted when I saw that we now have the posibility to use GeoPDF maps in Oruxmaps!

Thanks for this!

But I can not use maps I created in Adobe Acrobat 9. It is mainly for use of aviation airport maps I georeference myself to be used when I'm out flying.

I've tested a USGS US TOPO map and it worked.

Do I need to make some changes to my Adobe preferences?

Are there different standards used?

If so, is it possible to make oruxmaps compatible with whatever standard Adobe is using?

No responses then, but I hope for some consideration this time.

This is a better location for this issue than the original thread placed in 'GENERAL'

Pleas read my comment from Fri May 29, 2015 in http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2598&p=7047#p7047">this thread.

Feel free to continue the discussion here though.

After the last update to v6.0.8 (donation version), oruxmaps can't start.

I get the force-close dialogue pop-up every time I try to open it.

Also get the same pop-up when restarting my phone, without trying to start the app.

The last beta stil opens.

I guess oruxmaps uses QNH for Barometer/Altimeter calculations.

I suggest that you add the possibility to use QFF for the calculations instead. Much better for "surface activities" like hiking, cycling etc (QNH is for aviation).

But the latitude and temperature needs to be provided.

Latitude from GPS.

Temperature from internal censor, ANT censor and/or possibly entered by user at altitude calibration. The last will not give correct altitude readings if the user is changing altitude far away from the calibration altitude (big vertical movement).

A good QFE-QNH-QFF calculator with formulas defined:

I described the issue more in-depth in post 11 here:
