Dear Strava User,

Your files have been received and they should appear on your account shortly.

We have an important update: Strava will retire the ability to upload activities via email on August 17th, 2015.

Email upload was introduced well before we had an API. Given the mature nature of our API and the infrequent usage of email upload (less than 0.03% of all uploads), we'll better serve our customers by focusing our development and maintenance efforts on our more common upload channels.

You can upload individual files and files in bulk using our website: https://www.strava.com/upload/select">https://www.strava.com/upload/select. You can read more about bulk upload here: https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/22625035-Bulk-Uploading-Activities-to-Strava">https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/2262 ... -to-Strava">https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/22625035-Bulk-Uploading-Activities-to-Strava.

If you're an application developer, here's more information on our upload API: http://strava.github.io/api/v3/uploads/">http://strava.github.io/api/v3/uploads/

First noticed by another user, but I'm sure waypoints didn't used to be moveable when loaded as a route (load a route that includes waypoints from the database, as a route)

ERRORES/BUGS / Track database location
January 23, 2015, 11:25:09 AM
When I change the Tracks/Routes folder location, newly exported tracks are created there, but it still accesses the database from the original location.

The database and the backups are eating up internal memory and I have to remove months worth of track records to keep the size down.

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Track menu
October 20, 2014, 11:46:09 AM
When clicking on a record in the Route Database, a menu comes up with a list of actions to perform to the selected Route (edit, share, export, etc).

Would it be helpful to have as many of these menu options as is possible available from the Track menu, say as a sub-menu item called Database Entry, Database Record, Actions, or something similar (best I can come up with off the top of my head), or have a horizontal line break in the menu, then the database actions below that with no particular reference to the database.

The reason this would be useful is because the currently loaded Track is one record in the database; it shouldn't be necessary to go to the database, then select the track from there, when it is already 'selected' as the currently loaded track.  The menu item(s) could be grayed out when there is no currently loaded/recorded track.

This would be different to and less confusing than the recently removed database link from the Tracks menu because that used to be a link to the database, and not to this specific track in the database.

Cheers.

Optionally, I've had some other thoughts:

2) Could the 'Manage tracks/routes' menu item be changed to 'Manage Records' and have 'Database Records' be the name of the screen that opens, not 'Tracks'?  This is because 'tracks/routes' leads me to think there are either 'tracks and routes' to be found, or 'tracks or routes', neither of which is strictly true, because the database doesn't differentiate between the two and it is confusing then to be looking for either some tracks or some routes.

My request, above, could then have it's sub-menu name as 'Database Record' (singular).

If not 'Database Records', then something else, different to 'Tracks' and 'Routes'?

3) Maybe further clarity can be gained by moving the 'Manage Tracks/Routes', or 'Manage Database Records' menu item to the triple-dot menu, so it is not associated with either?  Maybe after that my original request for a Record menu item for the Track can be duplicated to the Route menu so the database record for the primary loaded Route can also be modified?

Then, if the Track and Route menu has a grayed-out Database Record menu item and a user sees the Manage Database Records item in the triple-dot, this might join some mental dots in how to navigate the software?

I get that the word Record is tricky because I'm using it regarding a Database Record and is so very easily mistaken for the act of starting the GPS to start Recording, but that's the best I've got at the moment.  I think I've read 'Path' before as a name for a Database Record, but that just introduces a new term and adds confusion.  Has anyone got a good Thesaurus?

ERRORES/BUGS / Gps tweak
September 10, 2014, 07:51:38 PM
The gps tweak setting, that changes between default, fast (which I use) and power save, doesn't persist between sessions if there is no track loaded.

If there is a loaded track, the setting is maintained between sessions.

I can see why this behaviour is there when a track is loaded, so the track can be continued with the same gps setting, but I'd like it to do this with or without a track loaded.

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / TMG/direction arrow
September 05, 2014, 10:00:13 PM
I'm finding when I turn the screen on, the direction arrow and TMG line is pointing North. I have to travel further, with the screen on for the arrow to point in the correct direction.

I'd like it when the screen comes on for it to look at the recent track points and have the arrow point in the direction just travelled.

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Raster cache

Need some cache controls for the vector map cache similar to online tile cache (upper/lower limits).

ERRORES/BUGS / Import GPX
August 19, 2014, 10:29:17 PM
If there is more than a screen full of GPX files, you can't click the selection box because it clicks the scroll bar instead.  It is therefore impossible to import a GPX file.

The Track list in the Waypoint bulk edit doesn't use folders- this would be useful.

ERRORES/BUGS / Alert tones.
June 04, 2014, 09:29:49 PM
On Android 4.4.2, the ringer starts low in volume and increases to the pre set volume as the phone continues to ring.

It looks like this is also affecting notification tones in Orux. The first fix tone is too quiet to hear.

If when selecting the tone from settings I press the same tone as I've already selected, it is played, quietly. If I keep pressing it, repeatedly, it increases in volume.

ERRORES/BUGS / New phone, lost database folders
June 03, 2014, 11:16:33 PM
Re: http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=542&start=50#p2495">//http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=542&start=50#p2495

I got a new phone, copied in the tracks database, there aren't any folders.  I would re-create them and let the tracks fall into place, but my old phone died.

There is the slim chance that the folder settings were stored on the SD card on the old phone, but the new phone, having Android 4.4.2, is accessing a folder in internal memory (where I had to place the tracks database).

ERRORES/BUGS / Scale bar
May 17, 2014, 03:44:42 PM
The distance value for the scale bar for raster maps is about double what it should be. It is ok for vector maps.

ERRORES/BUGS / Processor use after exiting app
April 25, 2014, 10:25:31 AM
When I exit Oruxmaps (latest donate, or beta 10) it spends a long time consuming processor and sometimes causes the phone to reboot- after some minutes of the phone not responding.

Motorola Defy+, 'droid 2.3.6, oruxmapstracks.db is 45MB.

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Waypoints close together
March 24, 2014, 01:59:02 PM
I'm finding when planning a cycle route, I import a GPX, load it as a track and set about adding Waypoints to it with simple navigation instructions 'Left' 'Right' '3rd exit', etc.

What I'm finding is with Waypoints close together I don't get the second instruction, and miss the turn, until I am well past that Waypoint.

I have Waypoint Distance set to 160m and Max Wpt. alarm warning set to 2.

I think this is because when I reach and go past the first Waypoint, the position of the second may be within the 160m and OruxMaps hasn't moved onto the next waypoint?  Therefore I think I only get the second Waypoint's notification when I've moved past the first Waypoint by 160m (and past the second somewhat).

I find this particularly in villages, where there'll be a main road to join, then leave again- a left then a right.

Is it possible for OruxMaps to move onto the next Waypoint after these 2 alarms so I can get the next Waypoint's notification?  And/or/maybe can there be a way of visually seeing the 160m range of a Waypoint when I'm placing them, so I can space the Waypoints better, so the second is a good distance outside the first's navigation boundary, or alternatively, name the first so it includes both pieces of information?

Maybe this current setup will also be adversely affecting any downloaded navigation, where the navigation tool would be likely to place two Waypointed instructions close together.

Cheers.

ERRORES/BUGS / Track / Route discrepancies
March 05, 2014, 11:12:16 PM
I'm finding when loading a Track from the database it is often missing some nodes.

If I load the same track as a Route it can be easy to spot.

Tends to happen only for imported tracks, but this could simply be because recorded tracks are a bit more random and rounded.

Try importing the following for example :

ERRORES/BUGS / First fix
March 01, 2014, 11:31:53 AM
Though primarily an issue with my device /Android, I find that if the first fix doesn't happen in about 10 seconds then it won't ever - the GPS icon stays flashing.

All I usually have to do is stop the Track record and start again and it will get an instant fix.

After first fix of I lose Gps indoors then come back out it does get Gps again ok.

I thought Orux used to do this, but if it doesn't get first fix for a minute can it stop for a moment and start again? Or is it not stopping for long enough for the gps to give up, before starting again?

ERRORES/BUGS / GPSIES
October 14, 2013, 05:59:52 PM
In Route Manage, Import Track, Gpsies.com, I can't search for tracks by a specific user.

In Activities I tick biking and racingbike, enter user 'franman79' and click Search.

After connecting, 'No tracks were found using the current criteria'.

I'm then left at a grey screen with no options (also a problem).

In integration I have my GPSies account set up ok, but I'm not sure that's important here.

On the GPSies.com website, without logging in, I click Search, then Extended Search and use the following criteria ok:

username: franman79

activity: cycling, racing bike

ERRORES/BUGS / 3D view
October 14, 2013, 05:50:53 PM
When rotating the 3d view, it flips 180deg.

I can't reliably suss at which angle I rotate through to get it to flip, because it's either at different point, or I can't tell whether I'm looking at the correct orientation, or the flipped orientation!

I've got this problem with the current 5.5.11, but I've also seen this in several previous revisions.
