Actually, it is 0.98. I just forgot to change the version number in the file (I have edited the description in the first post independently).

For those of us that also have external bluetooth GPS, it could be cool if we could use both internal and external GPS at the same time, for added precision. The current location would then be calculated  as a (possibly weighted) average of the two positions.

If anyone is interested, I have made a significant update:

0.98

- a few bug-fixes

- replaced some icons

- road tweaks (small road shadows for better visibility)

- less crowded maps on HD devices

- less crowded urban areas at lower zoom levels

- thicker ralway lines

- MTB_scale tweaks: smaller symbols, scale 0 is now green for better visibility

- much better cycleways and tweaked cycle network rendering

Quote from: "eartrumpet"Hi Dsvilko,

I had a quick look at your theme, great that there are now more variants for different users/devices. I still dread the additional work to port Elevate to HD devices, as there are so many details which are optimized to the way things are...

Some issues I found:

- peaks with crosses don't show names/ele, because those captions get eliminated by the bigger symbol

- many captions still have the color of Elevate, which corresponds to the used symbols; as your now using Maki's set those colors don't make sense anymore

- the new shop/power symbols are still the same as in Elevate with different colors than Maki's and are smaller, which looks not very consistent; you can get larger ones of the SJJB icons here: http://www.sjjb.co.uk/mapicons/downloads">http://www.sjjb.co.uk/mapicons/downloads - try the all color or the svg set to have something to choose from.

Best regards,

Tobias

Thanks for the excellent tips! As for the porting of your theme, I've written a simple perl script that can up-scale or down-scale any .xml style file. It's not perfect but no way am I willing to independently maintain 6 separate .xml files. I only make changes to the main SimplyHike.xml and all the others get automatically build from that one. If you are interested, I can email it.

A new version (0.97) has a much improved night versions of my themes. Also, I have added the rendering of the winter_room tag and wilderness huts.

after you have the route in the database, you can select that route in the route list, then 'correct altitude'

Thanks again! I have finally found the import GPX button in the new beta :) Don't know why I thought it was only for import from on-line sources.

Can I ask you another question? When navigating a route, the TC-2 display configured to show the route profile and a 'green dot', how is our current position in the route determined? Simply from distance travelled or more intelligenty? Can I rely on the green dot showing the true position in the route?

Anyone? Can I save a generated route?

Tap the first point of the route, then 'Export ot a file'; then you can import the file to OruxMaps database.

In a future version, it will be possible a direct to database import.

Thank you! Didn't know that. Does this  help me with my original request? Can I correct a route altitude?

The latest version has an experimental auto-generated night versions of the three standard themes. The look is similar to Oruxmap's Night-mode but in full colour! It could also possibly be a useful power-saving feature for people with AMOLED screens as the background is mostly black.

If anyone is interested in a perl script that can 'Nightify' any .xml theme, let me know.

A significant new update!

Changelog:

0.95

- different path colors (paths are now black and footways dark red)

- colors of a path visibility markings are swapped (black is good, red is bad)

- tracks without a tracktype are now shown with a dash-dot pattern just like the paths without a sac_scale

- hopefully much better cycleways rendering throughout the zoom range

- more consistent and saturated water color

- added farmland rendering (brownish)

- tuned road, track and path width

Quote from: "Uli"So far I like your new HD version most.  Thank you.

That's always nice to hear :)

I've got a perl script that can simply scale up or down a .xml file so if you want an even bigger/thicker roads and paths, it's trivial to make another version.

A new version in in the works. I decided to change the path colour from red to black. Visibility is a bit better and a red GPS track is more clearly visible. There is also a small bug - path and footpath are currently rendered the same. I'll probably change that.

A new version (0.92) is up with the following changes:

- changed color of the buildings and bodies of water

- higher-contrast rivers, streams, tracks and paths

- icons taken from the Tiramisu theme

- hiking network tweeks

- added rendering for the via_ferratas

- added rendering of the mtb_scale

I've got a phone with a tiny high-res screen and the theme is optimized to look great on my phone. I would really like to hear how it looks on other devices.

That's one nice theme you have there! I got some great ideas for my (SimplyHike) theme. If you don't object, the new version of my theme will be using your set of icons as they are much clearer than the ones that came with the Elevate theme.
