GENERAL / Default Waypoint Type
February 29, 2020, 12:26:07 PM
Hello,

Is there a way to change the default icon type (Waypoint) to a custom waypoint type ?
Or is there a way to change the icon (png image) of the Waypoint waypoint type ?

The goal is to be able to create new icons quickly (without searching the list for a custum waypoint type) but to have less combersome icon than the default Waypoint waypoint type.

Yes but this behavior does not take into account the Default Zoom option set to 200%

GENERAL / Re: Hardware for Orux
February 18, 2020, 09:47:42 PM
My requirment :
- Bright and contasted screen to be as much readable as possible under the sun
- Barometer capter
- Long life battery or you have to use a power bank or solar charger
- Low resolution screen (small DPI) because I use raster maps
- Unbreakable if possible
- Not too expensive

Hardware :

- Blackview BV6000. Good
- Oukitel WP1. Better
- Ulfone Armor 2...

GENERAL / Default zoom 200% togather with Zoom Autoload
February 18, 2020, 08:21:29 PM
I have a strange behavior when I combine the two options: Default zoom at 200% with Zoom Autoload
The second option does not seem to take into account the first one.
I have two maps :
- One with 4 zoom levels : 8, 10, 12 and 14
- The second with only the zoom 16

With Zoom Autoload and Default zoom at 100%,
When I zoom (with volume keys) I get :
- Zoom 8 at 100%
- Zoom 8 at 200%
- Zoom 10 at 100%
- Zoom 10 at 200%
- Zoom 12 at 100%
- Zoom 12 at 200%
- Zoom 14 at 100%
- Zoom 14 at 200%
- Zoom 16 at 100% with the second map
- Zoom 16 at 200%
It's nice for me

The unexpected behavior is when I change the default zoom option to 200% (because of a new device lots of dpi)
I get :
- Zoom 8 at 100%
- Zoom 8 at 200%
- Zoom 8 at 400%
- Zoom 10 at 200%
- Zoom 10 at 400%
- Zoom 12 at 200%
- Zoom 12 at 400%
- Zoom 14 at 200% So far, perfect. Then I expect 14 at 400% but :
- Zoom 16 at 100% with the second map !
- Zoom 16 at 200%

Did I misunderstand something ? Are the two option not compatible ? Is this a bug ?

I've just tried to copy the xml file from one installation to another but it doesn't work.

Anyone know how to clone an Orux installation ?

I see there is a XML file in the "oruxmaps/preferences/4.2" folder but it is unreadable... ?

Is this file contains all the 4.2's options ?

I'd like to setup another phone with Android and the same options. Can I just copy this file to the new installation ?

Thanks, Sylvain

I Use a Blackview BV6000 for a yeau and I'm happy.

 - For GPS precision, I can't see defference compared with the best Garmin GPS.

 - Barometer captor

 - Around 300 dpi is better than 400+ dpi for my eyes to see raster maps I create.

 - Big battrie which let me 3 to 4 days walking before recharging

 - IP67 and solid for outdoor.

With the same and even better spec : Oukitel WP1 but I've not tested.

GENERAL / Options Import Export

As there are quite many options in quite many submenus, I am wondering if there is a way to save and restore Orux General Settings ?

Thanks,

GENERAL / Re: pasar tracks del ordenador al oruxmaps

To cope with many tracks at a time, export them togather in a kmz file. Transfert the kmz to the oruxmaps overlay folder and open it in orux as a new layer.

Yes, I've just try that. It works but it make 1 long click + 1 click + find mentaly the right map on the list (All maps for the point are listed regardless the zoom level) and click on it.

Another way is dezoom until a more general map appear, rezoom and choice the right detail map.

On the terrain we have to be fast to collect the informations of 2 or 3 maps (plan, sat, osm) for deciding the way to go. A swap map button may help to quick zap around maps and decide faster.

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / A swap map button
February 18, 2018, 11:06:26 PM
I don't speak spanish, only a little bit english, sorry.

Just an idea you may find interesting : A button to swap map between the activated suitable maps for the current position / zoom level.

When zooming in an out Orux automatically change the map if necessary but il there are several activated maps suitable for the zoom level, it ask the question to give the choice to the user to choose between the available possibles maps to switch to. I would find more convinient if Orux choose himself an arbitrary map to switch to and to have a button in the button bar to switch to the next possible map at this point and zoom level. Orux could simply alphabetically sort possibles maps and one round trip other these maps by pressing the swap map button.

Thanks very much for your excellent sotware !

MAPAS/MAPS / Re: OruxMaps sqlite vs Compe RMAP ?
February 18, 2018, 10:37:15 PM
Thank you for all these tips and informations.

But finally I use OSMTracker and Orux SQLite formats !

I download raster maps (Sat images and others) with MOBAC and stock them on desktop in intermediate OSMTracker format atlas. OSMTrack format is just jpg or png tiles files in a folder structure zoom/x/y.jpg

Then I use ImageMagick with a small script to ajust gamma, contrast and brightness to the hundred of thousand of sattelite tile images. Then I zip OSMTracker atlas to have a single or few files stored locally and ready to serve as a local mapsource for MOBAC to build targeted Orux atlas.

My Orux atlas are actually multi layer MOBAC atlas which add transparent OSM mapforge map (made with rendertheme) containing the OSM paths, tracks and other useful things for hikking usage.

Orux and MOBAC are very very very very very very good software. Big big big thanks to their designer  :D
