Title: Rotating labels in vector maps
Post by: m0rci on July 14, 2023, 12:19:48 PM
I'm recycling a subject from a 2014's post.
Has that ever been implemented in OruxMaps?

When you use the experimental VTM viewer (global settings - maps - VTM map viewer), the labels will be rotated.

It has been recently implemented using VTM viewer. But support for this viewer is still experimental, there are still a few drawbacks.

You can choose to use it only for Mapsforge maps ('Settings - Maps- Mapsforge settings - VTM map viewer') or for all kind of maps ('Settings - Maps - VTM map viewer')

You can use this viewer with other vector maps, it works well, for example vector mbtiles.
You can download an offline zone, at :
https://extract.bbbike.org/
In the format option select:
MB vector tiles openmaptiles

Just rename the file with the extension
*Name.V.Mbtiles  for Oruxmaps to recognize it, the labels are rotating and with the vtm viewer you can give 3d effect to the buildings
They are very light maps take up very little space, but they can be simple.
