Hello Haldo & Tronpo,

thank you for your reply.

In my opinion `menu - maps- reset cache` is not the same.
Because after i tried this two things i didn't recognize any increase of free space on my phone.
And also there is a pop up window when i start orux, which says that orux has to compress the image cache.
This window also appeared after i reset the cache.
After that i let orux compress the image cache to see what happens then. And after Orux finished there was 1,5GB space more on my phone.
So in my opinion it is not the same.
The advantage og doing it manually is that it costs no time, because i am just deleting the complete file. After that Orux does a new, but empty file.
If i let do Orux the compression, sometimes it will last a long time, depending of the size of the file.

@Tronpo:
no, not exactly. There where alway this two files, the:
OruxMapsCacheImages.db  (which will increase in size with time)
and the
OruxMapsCacheImages.db-journal (maybe the index of the database?)
And the .db is the one i want to know where it is now. A few month ago it was just next to the .db-journal, in the same folder...

THX and best regards,

Henning

Hi everybody,

for several years i was used to delete the OruxMapsCacheImages.db manualy from time to time.
this was a quick method to maintain orux speed and to save space on my device.
This file was located in: oruxmaps/mapfiles
Its not longer there. Does anybody know where i can find it and if there is still the possibility to just delete it?

best regards,
Henning

Hi,

is there any possibility to turn the screen on and off by doubletapping on the screen?
(at least the backlight?)
If i use my phone for bicycle riding it's inside a waterproof case and it's very hard to get to the buttons at the side of the phone.
It would be perfect if one could save battery by turning off the screen this easy.

How do you solve this problem?

THX and best regards....

Hi,

i have a problem with building a composite map.
I would like to add a few layers of this map:

https://map.geo.admin.ch/mobile.html?lang=de&layers=ch.bafu.wrz-wildruhezonen_portal,ch.bafu.bundesinventare-auen,ch.bafu.bundesinventare-hochmoore,ch.bafu.bundesinventare-flachmoore_regional,ch.bafu.bundesinventare-flachmoore,ch.bafu.bundesinventare-jagdbanngebiete,ch.bafu.schutzgebiete-schweizerischer_nationalpark,ch.bafu.bundesinventare-trockenwiesen_trockenweiden&layers_opacity=0.9,0.75,0.75,0.75,0.75,0.75,0.75,0.75&bgLayer=ch.swisstopo.pixelkarte-farbe&zoom=3.7016490744503514&topic=ech&E=2615664.78&N=1152355.11

to a base map, lets say Topo4U:

https://www.4umaps.com/online-outdoor-hike-bicycle-map.aspx

If i wan`t to create the composite map orux tells me that maps with different projections can´t
be combined. Basemap has MERCATORESFERICA and other layer has WGS84.

Is there a way to change one of these projections ?
I think its only a small mistake, because other composite maps work great, but i don´t get it...

Another problem is that i can only see zoom levels betweent 0-11 for the map.geo.admin layers.
But in their own homepage all zoom levels are visible.
Maybe this is due to license issues?
In this thread:
https://oruxmaps.org/forum/index.php?topic=21080.0

Orux is writing something about necessary projection, but i don`t really understand.

I did other composite maps with on- and offline maps and WMS-layer witout problems.
All of it looks very the same, but this i can`t get to work...
Maybe somebody can help me out...
THX, Henning

Hi everybody,

it`s a little bit sad that i got no answers to my question.
However, in the meantime i tried the huawei band 4 and the xiaomi mi band 4.
Both of them work flawless with orux.
I did not do any long-term test as i realized that there will be a new Mi Band 5 soon.
I think i will buy that and after testing i will post my experience here.
I read a lot of bad stuff related to wrong measurements with these optical bands.
Also i am interested about mobile phone batterie life with the connected band.
As soon as i have the band i will test...
cheers,
Henning

Hi Andrea,

you could read some of this threads:

https://oruxmaps.org/forum/index.php?topic=3769.0;topicseen
and
https://oruxmaps.org/forum/index.php?topic=4527.0;topicseen

Its not an orux-problem but related to the android power-saving functions.
Depending on the phone brands you can have easy or more complicated problems, or no problems at all.
Its really a pain in the ass. I had a Huawei phone the last years and i really dont know how many ours of his life orux spend to fix these problems. After years of struggle, in the end it worked again, even with my huawei. After that i tried different brand with high expectations but some of them had the same problems.
However, now i have a realme 6 pro phone and i never had a problem, even without toggling all of the tweaks and tricks wich where done in the past to make it run.
It just works flawless right out of the box. Absolut fantastic. I would really recommend this phone if you want to use apps like orux which have to work in the background for many hours...
Orux Maps is a fantastic app wich is absolut reliable and also very power saving.
I can hike a whole day with a lot of screen-on time to find my way. I am making a lot of  pictures and videos the whole day and log my track the whole day, without loosing only 1meter of the track. And at the end of the day there ist still 30% battery left!
And i really like this new feature with the small pics for tracks in the database!
Thank you Orux....

Hello Orux, hello everybody,

is there somewhere information regarding the above mentioned fitness trackers ?
I think all of them are quite good, extremely cheap and wide spread.
It's possible to get the Mi band 2 für around 10 Euro.
I searched the forum and i found a few mostly older Posts about it.
But what happened in the meantime?
Is there any of this cheap trackers wich will work good as a heartrate monitor?
Did i maybe miss a thread? Are there any plans for the future?
As i understand trackers with Android wear are supported. But for me it seems that they are a lot more expensive and most of them are not working as good as the cheaper ones...

THX a lot and best regards....

Hi Orux,

Absolut fantastic!!

finally, i can confirm that your latest version of Oruxmaps (7.2.0) does work as good on my huawei P9 plus as all the years before on all my other phones before!

I completely lost hope in the last months because i thought that this problem can't be solved from your side.

Also all the other tracking software i used on this phone had the same problem. And Huawei never answered to my question.

Again: great, great, great!

I made a donation few minutes ago.

Is it possible for you to explain in short words how you solved this problem?

THX a lot,

Henning

Hello Orux,

maybe i remember wrong, but the first time

i think i had to manually restart Orux and then it does the straight line.

The second time i was wondering, because wenn i opened my mobile,

Orux was closed but it started then automatically and does the straight line.

Now i enabled the GPS failure alarm. This seems to work, i will try that further these days...

best regards,

Hi Orux,

i tried yesterday your latest version.

At first i really thought wow, it's working.

But after 3:58 hours it was killed.

I did another try and after 4:05 hours it was again killed.

So I can confirm that it seems to last a lot longer now, around 4 hours.

All other versions last betwen 20 minutes and 2 hours...

I will try this version again in the next days...

THX again for your effort...

Henning

Dear Orux,

first of all, many many thanks for your effort !

I tried the new beta yesterday, but it was closed again  :-((

I will try it again and let you know if something changes.

I have a Huawei P9plus with Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.0

best regards,

Henning

Hi Orux,

in the meantime i figured out that this above mentioned problem about closing the app is caused by

the mobile phone or android itself.

A lot of user are facing this problem. Affected are many Huawei phones but also other brands like Wiko for example.

All sports tracker apps like Orux, Endomondo, Strava, Navionics are affected.

The app is killed by the mobile due to a not properly working power safe mode.

Do you think you could make a toggle box in settings like you do for the zoom problem?

I think Orux has to do some action every few minutes like wake up the system or some similar activity.

Then maybe it should not any longer being killed by the system.

I tried so many things like installing other apps for wake logs or lock some system apps.

Nothings helped me and also Huawei seems not wanting to help. This problem is well known for more than a year now.

best regards,

Henning

Hi Orux,

unfortunately i couldn't solve my problem up to now.

After some research i found some more people with the same problem.

It seems that in most cases the energy saving options are the reason for interrupting the tracklog.

I tried to find al the energysaving-options in my phone and tried the following:

Under:

settings

batterie

-close apps after screenlock = toggle orux don't close

-optimize  -oruxmaps   -don't close toggled

settings ( gear wheel upper right corner)

-close excessively power intensive apps -uncheck

apps

orux

close after screenlock -uncheck

Also under:

  memory&storage

    storage cleaner

      settings

         auto cleanup  -i disabled

memory cleanup whitelist  - Orux is selected

I also already gave the app all permissions...

I think this is more then mentioned here:

http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3769">http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3769

http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4373">http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4373

here are two users with also huawei phones:

http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3868">http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3868

http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3806">http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3806

And also i found somebody in another forum who is running Android MIUI with the same problem:

http://en.miui.com/thread-557513-1-1.html">http://en.miui.com/thread-557513-1-1.html

http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=553328&highlight=orux">http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewth ... light=orux">http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=553328&highlight=orux

http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=544301&highlight=orux">http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewth ... light=orux">http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=544301&highlight=orux

Is there a way to get this problem done? Is there a possibility to get the logcat files without root access?

what else could i try?

thanks a lot!

Dear all,

unfortunately i have the same Problem like the others and sometimes its even worse.

Because often if i do a track recording and i switch on the screen orux is completely closed.

Orux is already under the 'protected apps' like mentioned before and there is no energy saver or task killer installed.

I used Orux now with four different phones and i have never had this problem before.

Is there a way to make a log file or something to see what happens just before it closes?

I use a Huawei P9plus with stock ROM (Android 6.0)

THX a lot,

Henning
