Dear Orux friends,

when i loaded a track (Manage Tracks/Routes->Follow/see as a route) it is shown on map as i want it (with slope colored path).
If i load then another route, it is also shown.
But the prevously loaded routes are still shown on the map with colored slope path.

Some weeks or months ago, all previously loaded tracks were shown kind of yellowish/dotted; and only the active route was shown colourful.
I liked that behaviour.

Either the behavour of "OruxMap 9.0.4 GP" has changed, or i have changed some setting which i can't find anymore.
Anyone knows where to change that back?

Hi,

i have a lot of my tracks organized in GoogleDrive and/or Dropbox.
I was used to tap on the gpx file,  open it with "OruxMaps GP", and the route was successfully loaded and displayed in OruxMaps.

But now it fails (Orux message: "Error loading route!").
If i copy the same gpx somewhere to the phone storage, i can open/load it fine.

Hello,
i  know i can transfer all my settings to another phone, using profiles in OruxMaps. That contains  also  "personal"  data, e.g. my integrations into  Orux, Strava, etc.

I was wondering if it would be possible and helpful, if i could export/import all my "non-personal", pure Orux-app specific settings into one xml-file.

Users may have tweaked a lot Orux settings to their personal use case and taste. Users could share that xml-file with others.

Hello,
I just noticed that a  track in error get's deleted (8.0.7 GP)  in the following condition:

I go to Manage Tracks/Routes, select "Properties" of a track where i want to correct the altitude.
I select "Correct Altitude" with e.g. "Apply smoothing filter" or  "Use DEM files (if available) ...." and "Delete old" activated.
Message appears in green shortly "Altitude  updated..."

If i  then close the Property screen, by using androids "return" button, or the "x" button on the top right, the track is deleted.
Only by selecting then the top right "check mark" button, the track get's  not deleted.

UPDATE for clarity: In the above description, i meant that the track gets deleted completly. Not only the old original one, for which i wanted to correct the altitude.

Hello OruxMaps friends,



Years ago i understood that i had to define in the OM settings (Integration->Layar) all the "Layar" comma seperated, i was interested in.

Something like tags available for https://www.layar.com/">https://www.layar.com/.

E.g. "medical", would show me in OruxMaps all items(POIs?) tagged as "medical" from Layar.

But looking now at https://www.layar.com/">https://www.layar.com/ i got the feeling that the service, idea and use of the  Layar-App changed over the last years.

And i am not able to use it anymore...



Therefore, i wonder if anyone is using the Layar integration in OruxMaps at all?

probably somehow related to https://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21084">https://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21084 is the following observation, i think since 7.4.14:



Either i use settings->User Interface->Dashboard->"Dashboard hide/wake up" activated or deactivated.

In both cases, after initial OruxMaps start the Dashboard is not shown, in case "Dashboard hide/wake up" is activated, i am not seeing that small  grey rectangle at the bottom/right. Only after going anywhere into settings, toggle a setting, toggle back, THEN the small grey rectangle appears (or dashboard is shown). Also my Android Statusbar disappears, as it should.

since quite some time, i use the Setting "User Interface"->"Misc UI"-> "Status Bar (Hide Android Status Bar)".

I like to make use of the screen for OruxMaps, as much as possible.



Recently (7.4.14, maybe already in 7.4.13) i noticed that the Android Status Bar is visible, altough the above mentioned setting is active.

If i go then to the settings, take away the "tick" and immediately activate it again, the Android Status Bar disappears, as it should.

But after a fresh start of OruxMap the Android Status bar is visible again...

I see that on a Android 9, and also  on Android 6 phone.

Anyone else?

If i tap the "3 dots" in the top right (the "Action Bar"), i reach a submenue "Tools" with (Measure distances, Measure areas, Trip Computer, GPS Status, Layar).



If someone decided to hide this "Action Bar" (Settings->User Interface->Misc UI->No Action Bar), how can he/she reach these tools?

I think they are missing in the "Navigation Drawer"?

i am using OruxMaps with OpenAndroMaps/Elevate.



Until OruxMaps 7.3.1 there were two different options in "Settings->Maps->Mapsforge settings" to get hillshading (at the bottom of all settings).

Btw. it was only  possible to activate one option, but not both options together.

I was never able to use "Apply hill shadows using mapsforge built-in capabilities" to see hillshading on the map.

Is this maybe because the "Elevate Theme" is not supporting these "mapsforge built-in capabilities"?

I wonder if anyone was able to use hillshading using that mapsforge built in capabilities.

Hovever, i happily used the other option to get hillshading.



This morning i installed OruxMaps 7.3.2, and noticed that:

The one option of hillshading, which seems to work indepedent from mapsforge maps, moved up to "Settings->Maps"

And can also be activated via Menue->Overlay options->Show/hide shadows, good.

But i can now activate both hillshading options at the same time, "Settings->Maps->Mapsforge settings" and "Settings->Maps", and once hillshading in "Settings->Maps->Mapsforge settings" is activated, the Overlay/show shadows has no effect.

Also, in the modern menue, which swipes in from the left, in "Map tools" the new icon for hillshading is there, but labeled "Show/hide Grid" instead of "Show/hide shadows".

Hello OruxMaps lovers,



when i use OM, i like to see as much of the map as possible, therefor e.g. i use "Transparent button bar", customized dashboard/buttons background with transparency and buttons that are hiding.



While playing with my new phone i realized again, that i have never understood the difference of two options in

Settings->User interface->Miscellaneous UI:



- Immersive mode (Requires android 4.4 or above)

- Status Bar (Hide Android Status Bar)



If i activate only one of them, or both together, the effect seems to be the same for me?

The android status bar is hidden, but can be temporarily shown using a "swipe down" on top of the OruxMaps screen.

Am i missing something, e.g. the purpose/meaning of "Immersive mode"?

Hi,



i have a brand new phone, where the Oruxmaps language settings are partially ignored.

Both, my old and new phone, run Android itself in german language, and in both phones in OruxMaps (v7.2.7) settings, i selected (en_US).



Old phone: OnePlus One, Android 6.0.1

New phone: Xiaomi Mi A1, Android 8.0.0



I have restarted OruxMaps itself and also the phone, after setting OruxMaps language to (en_US);  but the symptom is the following:



- All menues and submenues in OruxMaps "old style" menue, on top are still in german (which is my phone language)

- All menues and submenues in OruxMaps "new style" menue, which swipes in from the left, are in english as expected. But when moving on to any configuration from there, it is in german.



I can only assume that this is related to Android 8.0?

Anyone else with Android 8, trying to run OruxMaps in a language other than your phone language?



EDIT: i just installed also OruxMaps7.2.6beta15 on my new Android 8 phone, and there i can change the language to en_US! :-)

Hi,



i just recently found out for me, how useful it is to have Tracks/Routes within the OruxMaps DB.



Typically i have GPX files, e.g.

- sent by email from someone as email attachment

- stored at some cloud storage, accessable by my phone

- stored locally at my phone



I am aware of the mechanism to import ("Manage Tracks/Routes", then the symbol  with the floppy disk at the bottom, etc.).

Navigating then through the Android filesystem can be tedious and unexperienced users may have problems handling email attachments, etc.





When opening such a GPX directly, Android offers me to open it with OruxMaps, then the dialog comes with OruxMaps "Navigation options" and "Logging options".

How about an additional option to allow also "Import into DB"?

Hi,



when searching a route, before putting at least two points in the map, i have to set the 3 parameters:



- car, foot or bicycle

- shortest or fastest

- BRoute(offline) or GraphHopper (online)



When doing the next search, it would be nice if OruxMaps "Search route" menue would use parameters from previous search.

Currently it always falls back to "car, shortest, BRouter"

Hi,

in the german speaking part of the OpenAndroMaps forum, various users can not show the resulting list of a POI offline search, as POI overlay in the map. Instead, either OruxMaps crashes or simply the map is shown again.

Common factor seem to be Android 4.4.2 with OruxMaps 7.0.10/7.0.12.



On Android 5 or 6.0.1 devices all POIs show nicely up as XML-overlay.

Hi,

recently, after selecting a recorded track and uploading to VeloHero ("Manage Tracks/Routes"-> "Properties", Upload-Button, then chose VeloHero) i see an error message in OruxMaps: "Error connecting with the remote service!"

However, if i logon to http://www.velohero.com/">http://www.velohero.com/, i see that the upload was actually successful.



Before 20th April 2017, the OruxMaps behaviour was like this: "Upload successful, do you want to edit uploaded track?" (or something like that).

Maybe the interface to VeloHero changed, something comes back from velohero after upload, so that OruxMap "thinks" there was an error?

EDIT 28.4.2017: today the upload works again as usual.
