hi Jose and all,
I just released a preliminary version of a new theme based on Tobias' Elevate. While it's still Elevate at the core (I changed very little in the XML) it is meant for high density displays in order to remove the need for digital zoom, and it looks quite different.
I built it on a Galaxy Nexus and tested on the alpine maps from OpenAndroMaps, I'd be interested to know how it works on other devices and other areas. I regularly read this forum, so comments here or on my website are the equivalent as far as I'm concerned.
A presentation, some screenshots and the download link here:

Happy holidays.
Hi, GREAT theme: very professional looking and with a great care for text size at every zoom level!!
I posted a comment on your site asking tor an mtb mod ;) , but I felt the urge to compliment you also from here!
It looks great on my S4 Active.
Thank you.
Uli
Thank you.

Hi Maki,
just loaded your new theme ...
First I was skeptical while reading about high density displays ...
... but it looks pretty good on my (old ;) ) Galaxy SII. 8-)
Many thanks from Germany
Hi all,
thanks for the feedback, very appreciated.
There is a new version to test with highly reworked patterns, a bunch of fixes here and there, and a (temporary) low density version.

More to come...
Hi Maki,
You have done a great job! 1.0 beta is looking terrific on my Galaxy S3 (300dpi) thanks to your recommendations for different display densities. Text and symbol sizes are just perfect. Thank you!
Thank you VERY much for your work!
BTW, l'ho capito ora che sei italiano :)
That's one nice theme you have there! I got some great ideas for my (SimplyHike) theme. If you don't object, the new version of my theme will be using your set of icons as they are much clearer than the ones that came with the Elevate theme.
Hi dsvilko,
of course I don't object, it's all CC or more liberal. Read the intro of the XML for the license detail.
I (mostly) kept Elevate's names so it's easy to mix the icons from the two sets. With the final release I will release the Inkscape SVG source of symbols and patterns for those willing to customize, or render them at different resolutions. But before I need to draw the icons for the new hut features of the 2014 maps.

I just uploaded the release candidate, with support for the updated 2014 maps from OAM (huts, visibility etc) and a downloadable PDF legend. I think it's good enough for a full release, but given the changes I'd like some testing before calling it that way. Critics are welcome.

Hi all,
I eventually managed to finish the MTB version of my theme. Well, not really finish, it's very beta, but usable. As usual comments and suggestions are more than welcome.

Hi all,
I released today Tiramisù 1.0. Nothing really changes from the RC, but I've set up a static page for it and I published the SVG source for all the icons and patterns.
http://tartamillo.wordpress.com/tiramisu/
I also released a mapcss version for JOSM. It's not an exact match with the Mapsforge version, but if you use Tiramisù on your phone you will feel at home.

I just released a new update.
This is meant to work with the new 5.5.23 beta ONLY, do not install on previous versions.
I've been using it for a while and I think it's generally ok, but I changed quite a lot of stuff (visible and not) to adapt it to the new rendering engine so the more testing it gets the better.
//http://tartamillo.wordpress.com/2014/08/22/tiramisu-2-0-beta-1/
New beta for version 2. This is to test Oruxmaps latest betas, it won't work correctly on the Play Store version because of the different Mapsforge library implementation
http://tartamillo.wordpress.com/2014/10/06/tiramisu-2-0-beta-2/
I rewrote a lot of stuff, it really needs some testing.
I made a mistake, so the download link was for the old version. I fixed it. Sorry for those who downloaded the wrong version.
Tiramisù 2.0 is out!
//http://tartamillo.wordpress.com/2014/11/18/tiramisu-2-0-released/
Nothing really new for those who tried the last beta, but a lot of changes for the others.
Mandatory update for OruxMaps 6.0 and above. The old theme still works, but with the latest Mapsforge library sizing is screwed-up.
Enjoy.
I just published a new alpha. It NEEDS Oruxmaps 6.4 (currently in beta) or later due to the new Mapsforge format. Don't bother with previous versions, it will not even load.
I added some internal style variants and fixed the circle radius issue. The German and Spanish names of the variants have been google-translated, it's temporary, just to test the new feature.
There is also a preliminary support for MTB scale on paths, but not on tracks.

(It's only the XML file, it needs the pictures from the release theme)
Seems to work ... 8-)
I just released the new 3.0 version, that supports most of the new MapsForge features. Available from //https://tartamillo.wordpress.com/tiramisu
The original post that explains the new features (sorry, I forgot to announce it here)
//https://tartamillo.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/tiramisu-3-0-beta-1-is-out/
Small but important update for Tiramisù.
Starting from August OpenAndroMaps will change the internal tagging of features in a way that makes old themes incompatible. They will apparently work but some paths would not be displayed correctly. A further change will occur in October.
Please upgrade to Tiramisù 3.0.2 as soon as possible. This version is compatible with existing and future maps.
Note that only the XML file actually changes, so if you prefer you can skip replacing the assets folder.

In my opinion the best mapstyle for hiking and mountaineering
