Hi,
This week I released v1.0 of Trackserver, a Wordpress plugin for live online location tracking and collection and publication of GPS tracks. It works with OruxMaps via the MapMyTracks protocol and it also supports TrackMe and other ways of collecting tracks.
If you have a self-hosted Wordpress website and you're interested in location tracking, please have a look and give it a try.
A short list of Trackserver's features:
Collect location updates using several mobile (Android) apps Publish your collected tracks on a map in your posts and pages Upload tracks via an upload form in the WordPress admin backend Upload tracks by sharing a GPX file from your mobile, using a sharing app like Autoshare View, edit, delete and merge your tracks in the WordPress admin backend Live tracking of your location, with automatic updates of the map view in your WordPress post Full-screen map views

If you try it out, let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Martijn.
This is great tool.
The only thing missing is option to post track from OruxMaps directly, instead of using third party applications.
Yes, OruxMaps supports many services that allow you to upload tracks, but none of them offer the option to specify a custom hostname or URL.
If that option were present, I could easily implement the upload protocol in Trackserver.
My request to orux would be to add the "custom url" option to all supported services in OruxMaps that use HTTP for posting/uploading (and dowloading, too).
Best regards,
Martijn.
This is request I sent long tiem ago, so I must support yours too. That would be awesome to have and seems not complicated to add.
Trackserver v1.3 was released this evening.

Hello;
I'm going to open the complete API (register/login, multitracking, uploads, searchs, downloads, comments, friends management,...) in next iteration.
would you like to implement those features in the plugin?

Hi Orux,
I would like to make OruxMaps with Trackserver the best combination for any Wordpress user with an interest in GPS tracking and I hope we can work together where it is helpful for either application!
I am on holiday at the moment, but I'll be back next week and maybe we can discuss it!
Cheers,
Martijn.

Hello,
Can you please confirm that the custom url for the MapMyTracks is working correctly from the Orux side. I have configured this to work with my own server but Orux is giving me a message saying that unauthorised. When i look at server logs there is nothing coming from phone so i can only assume that its NOT using the custom Url.
Thanks
Regards
Dennis
Got it working. BUT it uses the wordpress user password and NOT the one defined in trackserver.
Hi,
I'm not sure what you mean by 'the one defined in trackserver'. There is no distinct password for MapMyTracks in Trackserver, only for TrackMe, OsmAnd and SendLocation. So indeed, use your WP username and password for live tracking with OruxMaps/MapMyTracks.
I'm curious to hear about your experiences with Trackserver.
Best regards,
Martijn.
Hi,
I'm trying to configure the plugin to work with OruxMaps but with no success.
Can you tell me how to configure both, the plugin and OruxMaps app.
Thank you in advance!
Is is really that hard?? If you want help, you should tell people what you have tried to make it work and what EXACTLY isn't working. "with no success" is NOT an accurate problem description.
In Trackserver, leave everything default and take note of the "Full custom URL" that it reports.
For OruxMaps, see here: https://github.com/tinuzz/wp-plugin-trackserver/blob/master/img/oruxmaps-mapmytracks.png

Thank you for the clarification, martijn!
@martijn, when in the Trackserver Options, in MapMyTracks URL slug I enter something and navigate to Full custom URL (ending in something) there is http basic authentication form. I'm trying to log in with my wordpress admin username and password but it does not authorize me. I think this is the reason I can not record my tracks.
Can you tell me where to look for a solution?
Thank you in advance!
Read the FAQ please. What you are trying to do is not supposed to work.
Best regards,
Martijn.
Thank you, for the reply, martijn!
I read the FAQ and did not find anything related to login, bu maybe you are talking about the slugs answer there. I've played allot with the plugin and maybe there is something wrong in my settings. I tried to uninstall and install it again, but it keeps the old data. Can you tell me how to remove everything related to your plugin from the WordPress. Then I'll try to install it again and will see if my installation is working.
Now I'm sending data from OruxMaps (where I have entered custom URL, WP admin username and password) but nothing is recorded.
Thank you for your help!
Edit: Is it possible my hosting provider to filter this type of http basic authentication?
I meant that opening the URL you're supposed to use in Oruxmaps cannot be opened in a browser. It doesn't make any sense to try that.
For the rest, I have no idea what might be wrong without more information. But this is a forum about Oruxmaps, not Trackserver, so please open a ticket on Wordpress.org if you want more help.
Best regards,
Martijn.
Hi
I'm long time user of MapMyTracks, Oruxmaps Donate AND Trackserver (just to say I can use all these).
I'm successfully using Oruxmap and Trackserver together in my site nro 1. (http/Wordpress latest/PHP 7) with Oruxmaps 6.5.10. Works fine in old Galaxy SII Android 4.12 and Honor 8 Android 7 (both with Oruxmaps 6.5.10).
Now I'm having problems with Honor 8 and Oruxmaps 7.1.2 Donate while trying to use it in my site nro 2. (SSL - SNI - httpS, Wordpress latest/PHP 7). It doesn't login to sent track info to Trackserver, I get popup in Oruxmaps with text "MapMyTracks error: unauthorised" about every 20 sec or something. What I'v read about both services Oruxmaps/Trackserver I think this might be problem with login to SSL - https - SNI.
Any ideas about it?
"unauthorised" likely means your password is incorrect.
OruxMaps 7.1.2 works with SNI.
Cheers,
Martijn.
That's usually the case. But I use very VERY simple password for this, and I'v tried to write, copy paste it... but it's not working.
There is so many different server configurations that I'd like to try this with some server/site it's working for someone. Do You have any test site I can test it?
any news about this procedure? I tried it but it's not so user friendly.
i followed the instructions but it doesn't work
