I'm using OpenAndroMaps. If I understand things correctly, those maps include DEM information. What is the added value, if I store the DEM data separately in OruxMaps?

No, they don't include DEM data, that's not even possible, you have to install it separately.

The added value is, getting offline altitude-data.

I use them for calibrating the barometric altitude, because they are quite exact.

In my experience, setting Altitude to DEM is not working properly. It shows much too high Altitude-Gain values :(
