I can't use and also see my .hgt files with Oruxmaps 7.0.
I put them in the directories:
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.oruxmapsDonate/files/dem/
/storage/emulated/0/oruxmaps/dem
(no way to access the "emulated " subfolder with Orux to indicate where DEM are located: the path stops at Root>storage>emulated. I tried to access to Root>sdcard (emulated)>Android>com.oruxmapsDonate>files>dem, but doesn't work)
Everything works fine with Orux 6.x
I tried also
/storage/(SD number)/Oruxmaps/dem (but no write permissions on external SD)

Strange,
try Root/sdcard/oruxmaps/dem/ folder, the app should be able to write there,

Tried, it seems to work.
With Orux 6.x I am able to see the list of files in the directory; with Orux 7.0 files are not listed, but 3D maps are correctly created, no download request of additional DEM files: so, I suppose the app is able to read files correctly.

Hi Orux. Same at my phone. Can't select root/sdcard/..... If jumped back to root/storage/ can't select /emulated and more.
Is it a chance, to use anaother ROM with more possibilities to write on external SD-card?

you can not navigate into that folder?

what do you mean with 'I can't access'?
you can't see that folder in the file manager
you see that folder, but if you click it, nothing happens

Have some problems, to post screenshot, so try again to expalin;
The origine path of my files (i.e. DEM-files) is root/storage/12354879/Daten/oruxmaps/DEM. After doubleclick on storage I see root/storage/12345678
root/storage/emulated/ , the last one is "empty".
After doubleclick on root, I'll get // and no more choice, to reach any other path -> oneway.
While clicking on the origine path root/storage/12345678/Daten/oruxmaps/DEM Oruxmaps shows an "empty" directory.
In this situation, Oruxmaps seems to read in the last named directory, but shows it as an empty one.

not sure what you mean, but it is a directory browser, you only should see directories, not the files contained in.
below Root folder you should see a lot of folders, sdcard/ or storage/ for example, right?

Seems difficult to describe.
1. If the hgt/hrt-files are saved in root/storage/12345678/oruxmaps/DEM/ and I'd choosen this path, OM shows a short message "empty folder" at the buttom of the screen. I know, it isn't empty, the h*.Files are inside.
2. If I doubleclick on the path/on root, the path changes to //, and no more valuable path can be selected. Can you try this?

If I try to change the folder, I can browse up to "root/storage/emulated/0" and back to the original location.
But if I browse up to "root/storage/emulated" there is no way back to the original location. I dont see the "0". But I see "emulated" inside "emulated"
But I can use than "root/sdcard/orux/dem

I am glad, that you confirm my notice. If you try one more step, double click on root in the path, maybe you can find // as result without any chance to reactivate a valid path.

To get // i had to long press on "root"
I could not go back to the original location. But I could select
Root/sdcard/oruxmaps
Here I set the checkbox at the dem folder.
That worked for me, I got my dem altitudes.

I never could select root/sdcard/....
After I'd choosen root, followed by //, it's a oneway, no way out. Seems, that ../sdcard/ ist not available at my phone.

I can also use /mnt/sdcard/oruxmaps... Maybe depends on the mobile phone. I have a samsung a5-2017

I've tried to track the issue and the same thing happened to me.
Can't come backk from choosing the "//" (root).
