The accumulated ascent and descent in the statistics are way too high.
I have a track of 56,6 km and in the statistics it shows ascent 1912m, descent 1926m.
The accumulated ascent and descent of the same track is calculated with 325m and 326m when using www.ibpindex.com for the calculation.

Elevation differences calculated from a smartphone's GPS data typically are way to high. Elevation differences calculated with the help of DEM data are more precise (depends from DEM data precision). Elevation differences calculated from the pressure values of a good barometer chip might be precisest.
Smartphone model, configuration (DEM, barometer)?
(DEM = Digital Elevation Model).
I use to go times to times the same route. But comparing the displayed
values for ascent and descent I saw big differences up to 25%, more or less.
Using always the same mobile (Sony Z3 compact). I guess this might be
very much depending on external conditions (e.g. quality of the gps-signal etc.)
Maybe it is technical easier with the GPS signal logging the distance we are
moving forward than the up and downs.
