The message is wrong, but the Track should be simplified.
You can check if the Track is simplified if you edit the Track. You should see less Track points

I have a new issue. It's something about the function "SIMPLIFY".
This function doesn't works. At the end of the process there is message "Altitude Updated Correctly".

I have an issue with the moving time. This issue gives me bad results with the "Average Speed Move".
To solve it I have to export my track and then import it.

I verified my last 4 activities recorded (ski, walk and others) and are all OK.

I think your problem could be related to some installation corruption.
Probably the case to remove and re-install the App.

I have an issue with the last Beta version (8.2.0 beta 4).
The moving time is totally crazy :

   

My wife has the same version and the same problem. We have 2 differents smartphones.

Do you have the same problem?
Is there a way to "repair" the file?
It seems that each time I have the same problem.
