MAPAS/MAPS / Re: convertir .map a ...

This is a Mapsforge map.

I do not know a way to convert it - but try Vectorial Map to view it and visualise your tracks.

MAPC2MAPC will convert PDFs (if already georeferenced) to Orux format

There are  maps of Spain to download, legally and free, from here :

http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es/CentroDescargas/buscadorCatalogo.do">http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es/Centro ... atalogo.do">http://centrodedescargas.cnig.es/CentroDescargas/buscadorCatalogo.do

They have much more geographical detail than Open Street Map.

Use a tool like MAPC2MAPC to convert to Orux format.

I think most maps are built with the WGS84 datum.

If a map is not built with that datum then the GPS chip will be returning WGS84 coordinates and it is these that will be used to reference the HGT information, not the map.

If you have Windows computer, GPSY (http://www.gpsu.co.uk">www.gpsu.co.uk) is good for editing tracks in many formats

MAPAS/MAPS / Re: Alternativas a MOBAC

Have a look at MAPC2MAPC.

You can add to MBTILES or SQLITEDB files (not Orux, though) and you can knock out individual tiles at any of the zoom levels.

From the MOBAC README.HTM :

Custom atlas as map source / locally generated tiles

Existing atlases or locally rendered tiles can be directly integrated into MOBAC as custom map source without having to set-up a local web-server.

At the moment the formats used by OSMTracker, AndNav, Maverick and OSMAND are supported. For adding such an atlas as map source download the Example custom tile files source.xml file, adapt the <sourceFolder> entry and place it in the mapsources directory.

Tiles can also be packed into one or more zip files and directly used by MOBAC. For details please see the Example custom tile zip source.xml.

Note: When working with large ZIP files (more than 4 GB) it is required to use Java 7.

SQLite based atlas formats can also be used directly by MOBAC. For details please see the Example custom tile SQLite source.xml

I can confirm that it works!

For Smartphones and tablets, I believe SQLITE is the best with MBTILES almost as good. Multiple levels in the map and lots of Apps (Android and IOS) that use them.

Just as important, they can be read by Mobile Atlas Creator and so converted to many other formats.

MAPAS/MAPS / Garmin IMG maps
December 18, 2015, 10:01:48 AM
I am working on a project to convert British Ordnance Survey free Opendata to Garmin IMG format. The objective is to generate a map with more detail than OSM. It is using standard Garmin forms with no TYP file.

In tests with ORUX, forests (x50) are not being rendered. Are there any settings in ORUX that can be changed?

The IGN maps are changing. Two years ago, both 1:25000 and 1:50000 were "ED50 Spain ans Portugal" (except in the Canary islands where they were WGS84). Now, the 1:50000 are WGS84 but 1:25000 are ED50

Now that Ordnance Survey maps are no longer available in Orux, you can download Offline maps from http://www.gbmapping.co.uk">http://www.gbmapping.co.uk.

The OZIExplorer (ozf2+map) version should work with Orux Desktop - or use the SQLITEDB version with Mobile Atlas Creator
