You can specify APRS server of your country, or any rotating:

euro.aprs2.net, asia.aprs2.net, noam.aprs2.net, soam.aprs2.net

http://aprs.fi/">http://aprs.fi/ works with the main.

The full list is here http://status.aprs2.net/">//http://status.aprs2.net/

The standard port is 14580, so if you want to connect to any euro server you must fill in: euro.aprs2.net:14580

Also you need valid HAM Callsign & password, only if they are valid server will receive coordinates from you.

You can ask me questions about the APRS.

I want get myself on the map but its not syncing.

Did you set password? You should have callsign and password to post data to the server.

Quote from: "kerékjoe"I am so glad to see the APRS feature!

Sometimes hiking, without gsm cover I was dreaming any solution like this.

At first sight I do not know:

#1. is this feature more than only aprs-watching with internet connection?

#2. can I use orux-aprs like APRSdroid app (with google maps) using ham radio and voice cable?

#3.  have I find any manual for orux aprs?

Or I am absolutely lost in translation?   :roll:

thx

Hi, kerékjoe

Last version of OruxMaps can only receive some types of packets (position, weather) and can send coordinates. APRS via tcp/ip is only supported. Therefore you can not use OruxMap for modulate / demodulate audio signal (AFSK).

There are no instruction yet for configure APRS in OruxMap. You can configure it in Global Settings -> Sensors -> APRS.

Good update. Thanx Orux.

Each release it's working better and better.

I see all my movements at aprs.fi. Great. Would like have possible to change uploading interval, and set comment in outgoing packets.

And why dont I see the icon of my transmitter DB0KX-2

The reason is that your transmitter send position packets with overlay character in alternate symbol table. `I&` instead of `&`. (DB0KX-2>...:!YYYY.YYNIXXXXX.XXE&PHG25503) It means that should use `I` as overlay text. But this does not happens. Therefore only displays black rhomb without the letter.

Orux, you can find overlay list on `Appendix 2: APRS Symbol Tables` (104 page) of of protocol reference.

We need a server for testing. The position is upload like: ORUXUSER>APRS,TCPIP*:!4420.84N/00834.89W1350/006 but I'm not sure if it is right,

I'm working about it, will send link to you soon

Hi, Orux.

Great news. Looks good)))

I'll wait for the next improvements

Quote from: "Uli"It is getting better now.

So far I dont understand how to filter.

Could you explain the format please?

And why dont I see the icon of my transmitter DB0KX-2

although I can see it on aprs.fi?

Uli

Hi, Uli.

You can get more information about filter here:

P.S: I have some problem with appearing onto aprs.fi too.

Orux, I sent mail to you about it.

Hello, Orux. Thanks a lot.

I'm glad to see APRS support))

I'm testing it now and found few problems

First the serious one:

If Object is currently moving, his comment, course and speed at info window complies with the last data. But there are no position updates on the map and in window (what's untrue). I need to reconnect to the server to update Object coordinates. [Picture 4, 5]

Also no updates, if Object has changed the icon (need to reconnect)

Same APRS and AIS Objects are displays with the offset - APRS Objects is not centered. [Picture 6]

Not so important:

Most of Objects displayed without callsigns; not always but some with! [Picture 1, icon 7]

May be necessary to make the icons little bit smaller (2/3 or 1/2 of current)? They are beautiful and big, but when them too many, huge icons close up much of map (dining, shop, mail, phone, digits, etc). [Picture 2, 3]

AIS connection error message appears on APRS failure.

And some wishes:

1. In future I would like that OruxMaps remember if was connected to server and connect to it at startup (as now at AIS).

2. Uploading position, course, speed and altitude to server with selected icon (tracking mode).

3. May be for weather stations would be great to show temperature info instead of icon. I think that ability must be set optionally.

4. It would be great to show course and speed of moving Object on the map (like in AIS)

It is not difficult than NMEA and AIS.

I think that should be parsed incoming position, status and weather packets with coordinates. All other data is less intresting for map and requires special software. Also OruxMaps can upload to server current coordinates as outgoing position report which could be used for online tracking.

I'll send you my c# template with APRS packet parser, it is simple and uses only string functions. There are some samples with real packets, more of them is readable with naked eye.

Entirely agree with the initiative to add support for APRS protocol.

Supports AIS-NMEA format is a definite plus, it helps to secure transport activities. APRS-IS is worldwide service and sometimes received information helps to rescue lives. Not even for amateur radio operators. It may be a source of weather info (meteo stations, airport activity), telemetry, emergency status and many other usefull messages. It would be great if OruxMaps will display waypoints received from APRS-IS servers. Moreover, unlike the AIS-NMEA servers, APRS are able to filter outgoing message for each client.

I'm ready to support and testing,  btw... wrote some servers & clients for APRS.

Hi,

you are right;

You can test the last version, it should not make sounds in silent/vibrate android mode.

Thanx, Orux, now it's good)

It would be great to start automatically sending reports to GPSGate server when start route recording, by analogy with MapMyTracks configuration. Because there is no information about speed and heading in MapMyTracks tracking reports.

ERRORES/BUGS / Wrong displays kmz icons
July 12, 2016, 07:28:55 PM
I found some error when showing kmz overlays.

Application displays wrong icons for some types of objects from kmz layers. Problem appears when you open changed kmz file (ex. adding new layers, icons) wich was loaded earlier with the same name. When opening modified file but with other name - everything ok.

Step by step:

1. Export map from Google with multiple layers to file 'test.kmz'

2. Open 'test.kmz' file in OruxMaps - everything ok, remove overlay

3. Change map in Google (add some layers, new icons)

4. Reexport changed map from Google to file with same name 'test.kmz'

5. Place file in same folder replacing existing file

6. Open 'test.kmz' file in OruxMaps - icons displays wrong, remove overlay

7. Change filename 'test.kmz' to 'test1.kmz'

8. Open 'test1.kmz' file in OruxMaps - everything ok

GENERAL / Is there way to move wpt
November 27, 2014, 08:15:34 PM
Hello.

Is there way to move (change lat & lon) of existing (added) waypoint?

For example:

i = new android.content.Intent("com.oruxmaps.VIEW_MAP_ONLINE");

double[] targetLat = {55.46, 55.14};

double[] targetLon = {37.49, 37.18};

String[] targetNames = {"Point 1", "Point 2"};

i.putExtra("targetLat",targetLat);

i.putExtra("targetLon",targetLon);

i.putExtra("targetName",targetNames);

startActivity(i);

...

i = new android.content.Intent("com.oruxmaps.VIEW_MAP_ONLINE");

i.putExtra("newLat",55.48);

i.putExtra("newLon",37.50);

i.putExtra("targetName","Point 1");

startActivity(i);

...

i = new android.content.Intent("com.oruxmaps.VIEW_MAP_ONLINE");

i.putExtra("newLat",55.48);

i.putExtra("newLon",37.50);

i.putExtra("targetName","Point 2");

startActivity(i);
