Thanks for this hint! Yes - I pressed "more" several times - but I blamed it to my browser ;)
The other option I found is download a beta version.
But honestly - it is some "work" to get used to an app like this - if this is not wanted way that can be closed at any time I better go for another solution (no offence).

It would be great if @orux will decide whether he will still offer this bypassing the allmighty google or not. For me this is not an option to go with Playstore.

Looking for the "free" version that is announced on the home page.
Have been a user some time ago but left for a while (no Android phone).
Now I do have one again, but without google stuff but microG.
So, this donation version downloadable here isn't exist anymore - or am I just to blind?
Thanks

But be so kind and delete any hint to a free version from your page if this is not existing anymore..

It's not only that.

You can imagine that in some places there is no GPS available at all, or you might have a device that doesn't have a hardware GPS module. This is often the case with some tablets. I use one for planning trips - as screen is bigger - but it doesn't have GPS.

I have two databases from different mobiles. I would like to combine the data into one database (tracklogs/oruxmapstracks.db).

How can I do that?

Thanks for any help!

Is there a hard reason, why Oruxmaps doesn't work with energy-save position mode (via cell-ID and Wifi)?

If I want to start tracking it complains about that GPS is off.

It can be useful to track at least rough position by that, as for instance for long term travelling via train or car (not  for navigation).

This mode doesn't need extra energy and is precise enough to get an idea where I am. Ok, it might be not 10 or 100m, but 1 or 5km precision - but that might be enough.

Please let me know, whether this limitation can be overcome.

Thank you.

I understand.

Also the argument with sharing of files - that's way it is good to communicate.

Thanks for your work!

One other comment (just my opinion):

It is strange, that none of the default buttons on screen is to set the actual GPS position to the middle of the map.

Somewhat dissapointing. More than 75 users read that, just one comment.

Am I the only one having not enough internal memory to hold all maps and stuff?

Mhh. Maybe this is because it has to be setup just once, and if it is done, it works.

But I would guess a lot of newbies would went away, facing off this problems.

I am using OM now for a few years and don't want to miss it.

The 7.0.5 but also previous versions have some problems to recognise folder changes.

It happens that with few changes and reboots the map folder on SDcard was supported - but not tracklogs.

Not sure what is the problem with that. Maybe there is a need to flush cache or do a reset to make the new folders valid.

I highly recommend instead of adjusting each an every folder (maps, dem, tracklogs ....) to adjust one base folder.

So the location of an oruxmaps folder and all other foldernames are fixed to this (as in the default setup).

Imho it makes no sense to have one part of folders in internal data and some in external (sdcard). Usually this option is required for devices with less internal memory.

Don't you this this might be useful? A short feedback is welcome, just to see it is not posted into black whole ;)

Time to push this again to top ;)

Again, great tool - that's what I want to mentioned anyhow!
#10
Thanks for feedback.

Indeed : Deleting of this folder has to be prevented.

Instead of having for each and everything to adjust the foldername to an available media I suggest to have one setting for foldername. All the others (mapfiles, mapstyles, tracklogs, ...) are fixed and relative to this one folder.

This simplifies handling for those, who don't have enough internal memory and have to adjust this.

Don't you think this is useful?

GENERAL / Re: Track database
March 22, 2016, 10:07:05 PM
Thanks for help, but for some reason it is neither in the extracted TWRP image (data section, where some oruxmaps data are) nor on the SD card. Seems by backup strategy is not 100% :(

And if this is in the internal data, than it should be the data section of the backup image, right? It is data/com.oruxmaps.orux/databases ... but again, there is just oruxmapsmaps.db and datum.db and the journal files.

Although I have images with TWRP and saved content in SD-card I couldn't find this.

I just found oruxmapsmaps.db and datum.db and the journal files. What they contain? All my tracks seems to be lost.

GENERAL / Track database
March 13, 2016, 03:17:45 PM
I am using Oruxmaps for years now and I am very satisfied. Thank you.

During upgrade of my Android it seems I lost my track database. As I have some backups but I don't find it.

My questions are:

1) what is the name of the database file and where can it be located?

2) I found in my tracklogs folder 2 zip files and 2 but with klm data in it. This seems to me single tracks, correct?

Another question is about 3D maps:

3) It works with *.db maps, but if I work with *.map files, it just shows me the curved grid. What's wrong here?

Thank you.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: Track database location
January 24, 2015, 11:45:06 PM
I can confirm this bug. Although I set the path to external SD card, the internal storage is used for tracklog.

BTW: In general this pathes are used, because of too less internal Flash.

It will be a good idea to have just one selection for all the pathes (maps, dem, tracklocks ...). Imho you either have all internally or on your sd-card. Just a switch (use sd-card) would be a good solution.
