Hi,

Trailforks is a Moutainbike trail database/app that stemmed from Pinkbike initiative (probably the largest MTB online content creator), in the details they say the Data is free and provide some details I honestly don't grasp.

Their own APP relies on permanent network acess to download the base maps, althought they have downloads (per Country) for trail overlay, I'm guessing vector as its allways available offline.

The APP is ok but its not even near Orux capabilities, I guess I could easily change my mapsource files to download their PNGs but I was looking to know if its possible to have vector downloads (maybe on a country basis) maybe trought Oruxmaps or who knows even trought Pinkbike/TRailforks page much like the guys from AndroOpenMaps do with their Maps.

I'm asking this because I've become disappointed with OpenStreetMaps policy and the way its blatantly allowed to some random dude to wipe out years of efforts gathering trailnames and their paths, I'm making an effort to redo most of last 4 year "work" but this time on Trailforks.

I'm not entirely sure how but I'm guessing it could be done, they provide some details here:

Funny, sry for the spam, while writing this I accidentally found it, but I won't delete this post because It can be useful for others.

Orux relies on Google Text-to-speech, if for any reason you are using a custom firmware that requires you to install GApps (stripped down version of Google Apps), chances are you're missing this App.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tts&hl=en">https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .tts&hl=en">https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tts&hl=en

After install is configurable from Settings->Language & Input-> Speech/ Text-to-speech output

You can change language, female/male and other settings there.

TTS will be working fine after

GENERAL / What is the Google App I need for TTS?
June 12, 2017, 06:52:27 PM
Hi,

I'm using Cyanogenmod and since its using "stripped down" version of Google Apps, I believe its the reason TTS doesn't work for me, can someone please tell me wich Google App does TTS relies on?

TY in advance.

Sry,"mi espaƱol no es muy bueno" so Im replying in english. Ive been using the SOS option since I remenber and never noticed any battery problem.

Althought I must add that only now the "no moving time" is working as supossed.Could be because I upgraded to 5.1, cant say fot sure, previously the alarm would go off even while moving, so I just setted it to 1h and notification sound really loud and would reset it everytime it rang.Not perfect but worked.Now its working as intended.Tks.

BETAS / Re: custom maps

You mean custom online maps?

If so: Strava Heat Map.

<onlinemapsources>

<onlinemapsource uid="66">

http://globalheat.strava.com/tiles/cycling/color2/{$z}/{$x}/{$y}.png

<minzoom>0</minzoom>
<maxzoom>18</maxzoom>
<projection>MERCATORESFERICA</projection>
<servers></servers>
<httpparam name="User-Agent">{om}</httpparam>
<cacheable>1</cacheable>
<downloadable>1</downloadable>
<maxtilesday>0</maxtilesday>
<maxthreads>0</maxthreads>
<xop></xop>
<yop></yop>
<zop></zop>
<qop></qop>
<sop></sop>
</onlinemapsource>

</onlinemapsources>

In beta is now a separate file.In regular version (from playstore) you need to edit your onlinemapsources.xml

Handy for making multimaps when travelling and exploring new areas (moutainbiking).

BETAS / Possible zoom option to disable gestures
September 28, 2016, 02:40:33 PM
Would it be possible to add an option to disable zoom with gestures?

For people wearing gloves would be a most, zoom with volume keys is much more handy in those situations and many times just scrolling the map leads to unwanted zoom in.

Tks.

Brief test with onlinesources in beta13:

It works,but...the path isn't indexed to folder for mapfiles chosen in OM settings.

By default my ROM installs to internal storage (Cyanogenmod12 - Android5.1) and I've moved OM to SDCard, I've setup the path to "mapfiles" in OM to SDCard, but OM can only see my custom "onlinemapsources.xml" if I put it in: /my internal storage/oruxmaps/mapfiles/customonlinemaps.

Will be testing further but I've noticed the tweak settings for mapsforge themes are back. Yay! :)

Oh, and there is still a folder named "Onlinemapsources" in the "Offline Maps" tab ;)

BTW: I mostly use OM for mountainbiking, and I always use gloves, so I mostly use volume keys to zoom in/out.But many times while panning the map I accidental zoom in. Is there any way to completely disable zoom in/out with gestures?

Ty in advance and ty for your work.

Trying out the new beta: OruxMaps6.5.11beta12 , can't seem to find the option to Tweak Mapsforge Theme, more precisely the options in Elevate/Openandromaps to switch rendering of amenities on/off. Is it gone or has move to somewhere hidden?

Is there a new option to add custom online maps? Its located in the Offline maps section :)

Would be nice to have a persistent way of adding custom online sources that wouldn't get wiped with every new install, For instance: I've manually added Strava Heat Map to sources so I can make a Multimap for a given area with Mapsforge/Openandromaps as a base with Strava Heat Map on top, makes exploring new areas where I go MTB much easier.But I have to keep manually re-entering Strava Heat Map in sources with every new update.

Anyway, still need to test a bit but looks nice.Good job.

Since we've switched to Summer Time my recorded tracks are always recorded as beginning one hour earlier, at least when I import them to Strava.

I've tried to set in Settings-> Units "Use UTC time" and set offset to "1" but it doesn't make any difference.

Is there something I'm missing?

Ty in advance.

Don't know if this is normal or a bug, but in 6.5.0rc6 I couldn't erase the cache for a mapsforge map (openandromaps) if the map was in use, had to change to a different mapsforge map, erase cache and then load original mapsforge map.

Any changes from RC1 to RC2 on SMS alarm?

From some reason on RC1 "SOS alarm" isnt working for me, it doesn't "read" movement, it will always enter "SOS alarm" mode after the specified time. Maybe something to do with screenlock/powersaving? I noticed it happens when screen is locked all the time.

Quote from: "miguelcurto"Hi,

does the SOS message still needs to be implemented with email or is it inaccessible because I'm doing something wrong?

BTW: great feature! been trying to find 3rd party android app that would do more or less the same thing but nothing really worked, at least the SMS does work as intended!

Tks!

EDIT:

I think it would be a nice addition to this tab to be able to add a ringtone to when it enters the 40seg countdown, it would help to avoid sending false alarms. Also could add an option to have it ring continually (like an alarm) until user cancels it, in case of emergency could draw attention to a unconscious person.

Hi,

email option still not enabled.

there is an alarm during 40s countdown. is it not working?

orux

Ok,found out why it wasn't working for me: my "notification sound" was on mute in android settings. Still, think it would make more sense to tie it up with "alarms". But at least found a way to make it work for me :)

Tks.
