ERRORES/BUGS / Re: Cannot import waypoints from GPX
April 02, 2025, 06:45:14 PM
In Manage waypoints import, it could count the waypoints as it imported them, and if there are zero then read it again and import any routepoints as waypoints.
At the moment it says Waypoints loaded successfully when there are no waypoints in the file.

Anyway I'm relaxed about it as I can easily use EasyGPS to make my files have both routepoints and waypoints, so everything works.

I'm still convinced it used to work.

Thank you again for your help. I agree, one certainly would not want trackpoints converted.

All the Walkingworld GPX files are the same format and have routepoints. I'm fairly certain that Oruxmaps used to automatically convert those routepoints to waypoints when one imported using Manage waypoints. I have several of those GPX files on my phone and also have their waypoints in Oruxmaps, so I don't see how I could be imagining it.

So a more accurate request is to please "Import routepoints as waypoints when importing a GPX file using Manage waypoints".

@LENZ - Thank you so much. You are correct. I loaded the file into EasyGPS and saved it, and now I get both the waypoints and the route in the file. So my problem is solved.

I don't remember doing this before.

Has Oruxmaps ever been able to load a GPX file which contains a route and automatically create the waypoints as it loads? Surely that is what it used to do, or am I wrong?

It would be a nice feature.

ERRORES/BUGS / Cannot import waypoints from GPX
April 01, 2025, 09:43:57 AM
I can no longer get waypoints imported. It used to work.
I have a normal GPX file. I have put it where I have imported others before, in the tracklog folder.

I can import it successfully using Track/route tools/Load KML/GPX file, and it appears on the map. Works perfectly except I don't see the waypoint numbers.

I go to Manage Waypoints. Then on the menu at the bottom to Import waypoints from external sources. I select the GPX file and press OK.
It says Waypoints loaded correctly.
But the waypoints are not in the list of waypoints!
I have tried many times.

Please help. I have attached the GPX file. I have OruxMaps v10.7.4 GP.

Never mind, I eventually figured it out.

GENERAL / How to update a map myself?

I have a map in Oruxmaps format, with files OruxMapsImages.db and mapname.otrk2.xml
It is a simple single level raster map.
There is an area of the map I want to update, and I have a digital file of the updated area.
I want to get the tiles, edit the ones that have changed, and then put all the files back together again, replacing the files I have now.

So is there a way to export into all the component files and then combine them all again?
(I can edit the tiles using Photoshop, if I could only get to them.)

Thanks.

Sorry, yes I meant the bottom right.
So is there an intention to make it possible to remove it?
I set my phone up to show as much of the map as possible, so almost everything gets hidden. It would be really good to have some way to hide the red button.
Thank you.

Now I am using the Unified Interface I have a circular red button at bottom left right. It is there all the time.
v8.5.5 GP.
If I press it I get two smaller blue buttons, Load route/waypoints and Backtrack.
I don't need this red button, so please tell me how I can remove it?
I have looked through the settings and cannot see it.
Thank you.

Interesting, thanks.
I have many huge maps and their dem files in my own folders on the SD card, and OruxMaps configured to find them there.
I will need to know where to put them in the future.

GENERAL / Location of files to meet new standards
May 03, 2022, 10:32:34 PM
I understand that soon our files should no longer be in the folder:
\oruxmaps (either on the phone or on the SD) as they have been in the past.
I have v8.5.5 GP.

Having looked at the folders on my phone I assume the files in the future will be either on the phone here:
This PC\Galaxy S8+\Phone\Android\data\com.orux.oruxmapsDonate
or on the SD here:
This PC\Galaxy S8+\Card\Android\data\com.orux.oruxmapsDonate

My question is this. If I move all my files now to the new locations (using my computer), will OruxMaps work? Or do we need to wait for a new release designed for the new locations?

Thank you both so much.
When I turned on the Unified Interface option in the Settings, initially the left menu didn't change.
But I added the padlock button, and it worked, the map moves again.
Later the left menu did change to the full version, and the option is there to lock the display.

I don't understand how the Lock display option could have turned itself on.

I'm guessing the new Unified Interface is what I should keep as the new standard?
Thanks again.

I can't find it.
I open the big menu that pulls out from the left.
If I click on Maps, it shows five rows below the word Maps:
Center map
Map mode
Map calibrator
Map datum
Night mode
There is no other option.

I also went into Settings/User interface/Buttons/Buttons bar, and there is no padlock icon anywhere, so I can't add it..

Do you have a different version? I am on version 8.5.5 GP which I believe is the current version.

If my version doesn't have the feature, how did it get turned on? Is there some other way to turn it off? What am I missing?
#13
Thank you but I can't find it anywhere.
I go to the settings for Maps. I see nothing called Lock Display.
I also looked under Application, but can't see it there either.
Please can you describe exactly, perhaps tell me another option that is next to it.

There is an icon of a padlock in the status bar. I don't see this in the pdf manual for v8?
Is this a clue? What does it mean? How can I turn it off?

Something strange has happened on my Samsung S8+, with Oruxmaps v8.5.5 GP.
(I also have a Samsung S10e, same Oruxmaps settings, same v8.5.5 GP, and it still works perfectly.)
1. To drag the map I have to use 2 fingers. Dragging using one finger does nothing.
2. The left and right icons appear OK when I touch those areas. But the top row of icons will no longer appear.
Please suggest what could cause this?
