No admin here I guess???

Ok, I was not dreaming, I just did not remember which app was able to do the measuring and follow a track on a map



The app is OsmAnd+

This would be a nice feature to add to Oruxmaps



You pick measure distance from the menu

Place the starting point near a track

Click the options menu and pick Snap to road

Pick point #2 and the measuring device snaps to the track and creates a points list

You can add more points

You can also delete any of the points in the list

You can add the measured selection to a .gpx file

Or create a new .gpx file and save it



This is a very handy feature for hiking

It is nice to know how long trail sections are

You are selecting the wrong tool.

You can find "measure distances along track" tool in: Route menu > Measures distances

That is not the tool I was using

I was using the tool I showed in my screen shots

The tool asked me if I wanted follow the line

It did follow the track on my map, not a straight line



It did produce a list of points every time I tapped on the track

The list of points showed on my device by tapping on the soft button to the left of the home button on my tablet

You could look at the distance from the 1st point to every point on the list

You could also delete points in that list



Did I dream this, or did this really happen?

I currently have 7.3.1 version

Two different devices and it does not work on either device

5.1.1 - rooted samsung tablet

5.0.1 - samsung galaxy 4 phone



The measure distances tool was working ok at one time

It would snap onto a track and follow all the curves of the track

You could tap near the track and it would snap to the track and create another measurement point



Here is what I am doing:

I select the measure distances tool

A circle with a cross hair appears

I tap near a track and the tool used to snap to the track and follow the track

Tapping multiple times would produce a list of points that you could edit

The list would show the measurements to each point in the list



I cannot tap and create any more points than the very first point

Nothing happens when I tap the screen after the first point is shown

I see measurement info at the bottom of the screen, but that is a straight line measurement that is not following the track

I want the measuring tool to follow the track to get that measurement



Am I doing it wrong?

Just wanted to say that I am able to upload my custom made Garmin .img maps and Orux displays them just fine

I created a Garmin folder folder under the mapfiles folder and dropped a couple custom maps into the folder

Pisgah_dupont.img and Topo.img are the file names

Click - Switch Map

Hit refresh if your maps do not show
