There are two ways how to create a route. Route creation that creates straight lines and allows to split the route into segments and route search that uses e.g. Brouter app to find a way between points. I think this two ways could be merged into one. There would be one button to create a new straight line and another to create a "real" map path.

The current search for route has some disadvantages.

You have to first select all the points and then do the search. But if you place some point in a wrong place, the route is useless and you have to start from scratch.

Also you can't split the route into segments, it is created as an indivisible whole.

My usecase: I want to prepare a route for a 14-days trek. I want to have the whole route, but divided into days. I want to see the statistics both for the whole trek and for individual days. (I would also like to pinpoint some interesting places along the way or on the way, but that is off topic now.)

And one more thing. It would be great to be able to export the files with their original data/time (taken from the last time recorded in the track). I could then sort them in any file manager easily by date even if the date is not the first part of their names.
#3
When I use "Sort the Tracks" in "Manage tracks/routes" the sort is not remembered. I am not sure what is the default order, but when I sort it by date, next time I see the list I need to sort them it again. But I would like to have my tracks sorted by date permanently.

I use folders and I have imported tracks from various sources, which probably made their order messy.

And I have just noticed one more thing. I would like to autosave (auto gpx create) any track I import.

GENERAL / Re: Xiaomi Mi Band works with Oruxmaps

I have checked the Google Play version of Mi Fit and if you want to use the running mode, you have to create a special shortcut for it with e.g. this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ex.chinyang.android.xshortcut&hl=cs">https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tcut&hl=cs">https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ex.chinyang.android.xshortcut&hl=cs

App shortcut -> More activities (instead of Main activity) -> Mi Fit -> cn.com.smartdevices.bracelet.gps.ui.RunningMainActivity

Then you have to start the Mi Fit through this shortcut

GENERAL / Xiaomi Mi Band works with Oruxmaps
April 19, 2016, 02:16:06 PM
Hi,

I would like to share a short comment about Mi Band and Oruxmaps.

It works together, but:

1. You have to use Mi Fit app version 2.x, that has a special running mode.

2. In the app, you have to set the band to "discoverable" mode (in the "Play" tab)

3. Then you have to start the running mode (the icon in the upper left corner in the "Status" tab).

4. In the running mode settings, you have to have "Monitor heart rate" turned on.

5. I also use "Paused", I think it does not add new activities to My Fit in this way. I am not sure.

6. Back from settings, press "Start running" and hold "Hold to pause". It stops tracking, but the heart rate is still visible to Oruxmaps.

In Oruxmaps, use Global settings -> Sensors -> Heart Monitor -> Bluetooth Smart, BT Smart device

Don't forget to start HRM in the recording menu, it is not started automatically when recording a track.

Hi,

I would like to have my GPX tracks re-saved (re-exported, re-created) after I edit its properties, if using Auto creation.

My use case is that I use GPX format for backup of the tracks. After I finish a track, the track is correctly saved in GPX format, but then I edit its properties (like description, activity type, etc) and then I have to manually export the tracks to have the new properties included, it is not done automatically. I use an app to automatically synchronize OruxMaps track folder with a folder on my GoogleDrive.

I think Auto KML creation should work in the same way, but I have not tried it.

I am not sure, if it is not rather a bug, but the description of the Auto GPX creation option says, the track is saved after it is finished, so probably not.

Yes, it works in the beta.

Thanks.

"cross-country skiing" could be ok (both for MyTracks and Oruxmaps), it is read correctly when importing from kml.

Thanks.

Hi,

when importing a GPX file created by Google MyTracks, it is imported well, but the activity type is not imported. The GPX file looks like this:
<gpx version="1.1" creator="Created by Google My Tracks on Android" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/1/1/gpx.xsd http://www.topografix.com/GPX/Private/TopoGrafix/0/1 http://www.topografix.com/GPX/Private/TopoGrafix/0/1/topografix.xsd">
<metadata><name>2016-02-20 08:57</name><desc>Jizerky</desc></metadata>
<trk>
<name>2016-02-20 08:57</name>
<desc>Jizerky</desc>
<type>cross-country skiing</type>
<extensions><topografix:color>c0c0c0</topografix:color></extensions>
<trkseg><trkpt lat="50.800432" lon="15.130012"><ele>825.7</ele><time>2016-02-20T07:57:36.529Z</time></trkpt>...

It should be "cross-country skiing".

on the other hand, when importing KMZ, description is not imported. KML looks like this:
<kml><Document>
<open>1</open>

The description should be "Jizerky"

I do not know what is the correct format for GPX and KML, if it is wrong, it is just a bug in MyTracks...

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Keep GPS on in background

Hi,

would it be possible to keep GPS on in background even if not recording track? My use case: I would like to start recording when I leave my home, but to be able to do it, I prefer to have a GPS fix before. I can do it by e.g. putting my phone behind the window, wait a minute and then go outside. It is better than wait for GPS fix outside (especially in winter).

So when waiting for the fix, I do not want to record anything.

I am transitioning to Oruxmaps from google MyTracks (that are now deprecated) and I was able to do it this way in MyTracks.

Thanks for Oruxmaps anyway, it is great.
