I can't reproduce the DEM problem every time.



i tested it, but no DEM files are loaded without reloading manually.



I haven't figured out when and why it needs to be reloaded.

After some tries even without confirming any changes in the path it just works.

I will do a clean isntall, maybe one of the betas did mess something up?

edit: I made a screencapture of the process to get the DEM files loaded. Just back and forth to the DEM folder screen without setting anything.

GPS Tracking, Bluetooth Sensors are working perfectly!



When starting orux DEM files are not recognized:

You have to manually reload them trough setting the unchanged directory again.

You have to do it around twice until it works.

It seems you have to go to the parent directory twice until the DEMs are loaded.

And the new feature that you can see the folders contents is cool,

but it may seem confusing that you still have to set the parent folder.

the newest oruxmaps 7.1.4 resolved every gps signal problems i got.

Which Android and Phone do you use? (the information could be helpful for orux to help you)



I could imagine the first reading ist from a very inaccurate gps signal.

Do you have Settings/Sensors/GPS set to barometer?

What is the calibration method for the barometer?



I got DEM files on my phone, it's more accurate than GPS in most situations.

7.1.3 Beta 3 now works fine with tracking and my Nexus 5X with Android 8.0.0.



DEM files recognition still seems inconsistent,

I had a hard time to get it work at all the last few days,

at the moment it shows DEM files on startup of the app.



Edit: I just found the new version 7.1.4, better in a new thread I think?

But now I can see the files in the folder,

My Nexus 5X only has internal storage.



Actually with 7.1.2 and Android 8.0.0. (oreo)

I only get a Track-Points when the display is active with Orux 7.1.2.

I don't remember this problem with any 7.1.2 RC , and I am pretty sure it started with the update to Android 8.0 and API 26

In the current release 7.1.2 there is still a problem with DEM and possibly general directory access for me:

Nexus 5x , Android 8.0.0 (it was also the case in Android 7.1.2 adn the same device)



If I open orux, DEM files aren't loaded:

Are the gps fixed included in the latest release? I got some problem lately, but thought it's because of beta Android.

Generally I use one of the other provided Online -Services for my workouts.

It's much more convenient, expecially if you also use a gps or get track from other people and devices.

I use Velohero, because it has no ads or subscription-type donations.

Also it works with tapiriik.



The tracks are accessible on the app:

For the account, I hoped it saves my Settings for switching devices.

Click on your profile picture and then you can search for (your) tracks.

When the speaker bug is fixed in Android O beta I will have a go

to see if the new features harm oruxmaps usability.

Especially the background location limits and Background execution limits could be problems.

But I saw this now whiel looking how to get a cadence sensor to work.



I noticed the same behavior with my HR-Sensor.

When I go outside and get a GPS-Signal the Sensor works fine.

If there is a gps-loss in the woods or a tunnel the HR also stops logging.

You could try and comment here ?



I think it's because I use Android 7.1.2 , there are some problems.

I also would be happy to use a cadence sensor bluetooth smart.

In bluetooth smart with beta 7.11 I have no options  but wheel size, so no cadence supported?



They are quiete cheap and nowadays work with magnetic field  sensor,

and know their orientation on the basis of the earths magnetic field.

So no magnet i nthe spokes or crankarm is needed anymore.

Problem:

The roundups of the uploaded Data of my workounds differ to the informations in the gpx-File.

On the website of Velohero the Elevation gained/lost is too much.

Also the max/min Height isn't exactly what is shown in oruxmaps.



I assume the barometric Data isn't uploaded correctly and the elevation is computed with the GPS-Points.

is the "ele"vation information after the "trkpt"oints GPS Data or from the barometric Sensor?

I would assume it depends on the settings?



Also worth of mention,

the oruxmaps extension info results in a 404.

Ps:

The two Heartrates are somehow bugged in while I tried to get my HR-Belt working some days after this workout.

I don't know yet if this regression is because of my phone or orux, I have yet to try it on another Android device with oruxmaps installed.
