I downloaded a PDF of Patuxent River Park that is not Geo. I tried using the Image to Map functionality with the Virginia Maryland Delaware Openandromaps as the map and the PDF as the image. The process worked OK, but the resulting Map is offset everywhere by about 300m diagonally from the track and OAM map. I did it twice with different reference points, first 4 points, and then 11 points. Got the same result. Screen capture crop is showing track that matches OAM but is offset in new Map that Orux created.

GENERAL / SmartNavi service with Oruxmaps
June 15, 2024, 05:59:11 PM
Smartnavi provides a background service for inertial, step counting, compass direction navigation between gps locations. This should reduce battery use while navigating and potentially provide a smoother track especially during poor gps signal situations.

This might just work with Oruxmaps by starting the Smartnavi Background Service, but that might also just cause problems in Oruxmaps.

Has anyone tried this successfully?

OK, sent you an email.

As a next step I deleted one of the copies of one of the tracks that had two copies. When I try to open the one that is left I get the message: "The selected track cannot be loaded: It has no points." And it returns to the home page. There's now no way to delete that one, and trying to upload it again from Oruxmaps it gives the error message that it's already there.

With the new version of Orux 10.5.0 GP I got the notice about the new Orux Sicami integration so I followed the process to create the new Sicami account and setting that in Orux. With the Full synchronization option there begging to be pushed, I did, and three hours later got a message that 400+ tracks had been uploaded, and a notification from Orux that 119 tracks had been uploaded. I have 439 tracks in my phone database.

When I go to my Sicami account I am seeing 4 copies of each of the most recent tracks, and a total of 587 Activities. As I look at older tracks the number of copies go to 3 and then down to 2. If I reverse the sort order the oldest tracks only have a single copy.

When I go back to Orux now, and click on the stylized S icon at the top in the tracks view it is telling me that I have 819 tracks. Looking through them they appear to be the same duplicates that are on Sicami.

I am concerned that with the duplication on the backup that not only are there useless copies, but that there are at least some tracks that are on my phone that are not on Sicami at all.

Thanks, that's helpful, and that works as an option, and maybe the best option, but I still think that it would be nice and useful to have the option when creating a waypoint in Orux to have it look at the clipboard to see if there's geolocation data available, and if so to populate the pop-up with that data.

If I have a geo: coordinate on the clipboard and I create a new waypoint there should be the option to use that location data to create the new waypoint even if I am currently tracking. The use case is when my wife sends me her location from copying it in Orux. Right now I can open that URL in Google Maps, but not in Orux which I am tracking in and want to navigate to her location. Right now I have to stop tracking and cut and paste a couple of times to do this.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: Online maps fail to download
November 17, 2020, 12:28:45 AM
Today, even though it was not even open, Oruxmaps was running in the background and was using up battery energy at a high rate. I Forced Stop on Orux in Settings and then rebooted the phone. After the reboot I restarted Oruxmaps and now the online maps are working again. Bottom line is that if you see this problem, restart your phone. Don't just leave Oruxmaps running in the background, even if you have closed it, or bad things can happen.

Note that I entered a sister issue today on the battery use.

Today, after having the online map failure issues yesterday that I created the separate issue for, I had my phone fully charged last night. I unplugged it and had it with me until about noon, but had not used it for anything. I noticed that the power was down to 60% which is unheard of as I expected it to be at about 95% at that point in the day. I looked into the power usage and Oruxmaps was by far the largest. I had closed Oruxmaps yesterday and had not started it today, yet it was still doing something in the background. I think that it may have still been trying to download online maps or something and having failed was still trying over and over again. I went into the Settings | apps | Orux and Forced Stop. That seems to have stopped the power drain. I rebooted the phone. Now the online maps are working properly again.

ERRORES/BUGS / Online maps fail to download
November 15, 2020, 11:20:21 PM
I had been using Oruxmaps today, using Google Earth at level 20 panning to follow a track that I had done. It was working fine until the next tiles came up with the empty circle arrow. I zoomed out, and out, and nothing more came through. I then tried switching to another online map. Nothing. I then tried emptying the image cache. Nothing. I then tried resizing the cache. Nothing. I then stopped Orux, deleted the two image cache files, restarted, and still nothing.

This happened in the middle of a session using Orux. There was not an update, or a change of any settings, making a change to the xml, or anything else. The online maps just stopped working. Offline maps of all types still work fine.  I had edited my xml file to add in the four Google entries at the beginning, but I always do that after an update, and it was working fine.

On my wife's phone, exactly like mine (Moto G5+, Android 8.1.0), on the same connection, and it is working fine, so it is not the connection to the server or anything.

Just on a hunch, I edited the online map sources xml again and deleted the 4 Google sections that I had added. When I restarted Orux it had switched to my last offline source. I switched to the new Google Streets option that you have now, and that displayed! But all the others are still broken. I am guessing that there is something corrupted in my xml file now, but is there any good way to get a fresh one other than uninstalling and reinstalling Orux? I have other older backups of the xml, and I just restored one of those, and then nothing loads again. Have you changed the format and is something new required now?

Today tried to delete a track and the manage tracks window closes after about two seconds sending me back to map view. Tried restoring to previous track database backup. No luck. Uninstalled from Google play and reinstalled Orux GP. This fixed problem. Was using new 8.0.3 on Moto G5 plus. Wife has same phone, no problem. Maybe created by messed up track recording. I had tried to start track that did not record. Thought maybe this was issue and why restored backup.

I want to be able to save each section or segment of a track as a separate track. For example, I have a driving segment and a hiking segment. I want to be able to export only the hike portion as a gpx. Right now I have to edit the track and delete all the driving points. It would be much easier to just have the track split up into separate tracks, one for each segment.

Thanks again. RTFM:-) I still think that a Save option would be nice rather than having to export and import to get it into the database.

Thanks, that works. Hopefully having this method documented in the forum will help others find this quickly by searching. I did try the touch and hold, but not on the starting point. That's the trick. So much fun! My suggestion for a more intuitive method to get it into the track list would be to add a Save option to the route menu if the existing route on the map is not in the database yet. But knowing about the starting point extra menu options is good.

I have been able to successfully "search route" between two points using the online server. The route appears on the screen and I can see the route statistics, but it doesn't appear in the manage tracks list like a "create" route does. In my understanding of the GUI it should. There doesn't appear to be any way to save the route for later use when I'm not connected to the internet.
