I have this problem every few years when I change phone. By then you've completely forgotten what you did. In this case the new phone is a Huwaei  Honor 9X. The Android version is 10. The OruxMaps Version is 7.4.23. I had to check the box FUSED LOCATIONS PROVIDER  in the sensors GPS settings of OruxMaps. Oruxmaps then told me that is was under power saving mode and would not record tracks when the screen was switched off (this was actually the first time it had ever displayed such a helpful message). I then found the battery optimisation options for the OruxMaps App and turned off the Optimisation. Success at last. However it is particularly annoying until you fix it, especially if you are at the start of a walk when you discover the problem. But OruxMaps is the best navigation App in my experience which is probably at least 15 years.

It's 6.5.10 on a Huawei Y6 Android 8. Some times when a kml track is loaded it displays it and sometimes it doesn't. The track is definitely  loaded because you can remove it. If the phone is re-booted it displays the track again. If it's loaded as a kml overlay it seems to always display it.
