Distorted/ squashed garmin map

Hi, wondered if anyone else had the problem with squashed garmin maps and found http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1554">this thread, where the solution is to disable mercator projection.



But apparently I cannot make this setting do anything to the squashed map. I've tried to refresh, load another map, close oruxmaps, restart phone, clear data, clear cache and then disable mercator projection again, but nothing seems to work.
