Who can help me. I use Oruxmaps for about 2 years on many different android phones. Since a week I have a 8-core android 4.2.2. phone (Jiayu G4S). The kost important app for me is Oruxmaps. I installed and it worked perfect as usual. I started with online maps: no problem. But when I use offline Openadroid maps, Oruxmaps tops anytime when it needs to get new info (shifting the map or zooming). It does not completely stops, it is on the background and I can activate again (as one of the active apps) but then it starts with the offline map that was active before I chose the online map.

I tried the same openadromap on other phones (Samsung S2, Jiayu G2, etc), no problem there.

Has it something to that I now have a 8-core phone? Or is it something related to android 4.2.2. Or is it a setting that I should change?

I appreciate any help

Thanks in advance

The number of cores should not be the problem.

Please, tell me the map (a link) you are using.

And the alps, france and  balkan all from openandromaps.

Thank god, I am not the only one with this unexpected problem...

I used the Netherlands map: http://www.openandromaps.org/maps/europe/Netherlands_hike.zip">http://www.openandromaps.org/maps/europ ... s_hike.zip">http://www.openandromaps.org/maps/europe/Netherlands_hike.zip

And also tried the Alps_ost map: http://www.openandromaps.org/maps/europe/Alps_West.zip">http://www.openandromaps.org/maps/europe/Alps_West.zip

Both had the same problem. And only on the 8-core phone. All other types of phones were stable with these maps.

I hope that these links work.

Thanks in advance

In a couple of days I hope to have a new beta, which will use the new mapsforge libraries, I think that they correct that problem.

Hi Oruxmaps developer,

I tried for 30 minutes with the beta version on 2 maps (Opendromaps : Netherlands_hike and Alp_ost). No instabilities anymore. Oruxmaps seems to be stable again. Great. Thanks. Hope that the beta version will be released soon (so no other issues that shoul be tested).

regards,

ps I hve the impression that zooming in/out and moving maps takes more time than with a much slower android device and the latest released Oruxmaps. Is this the drawback of the stability improvement?

Hi,

not sure;

the mapsforge library has a lot of changes.

but the vector tiles are cached. After first use, if you pan/reload the map, all should be faster.
