All symbols on the maps of my S4Active are now very small. I played already with mapsforge scale - without success.

How could I get them bigger?

Hi, Uli;

I think that you should use an appropiate theme, with icons scaled based in your device screen density:

I haven't had the time to test the new version, but the new mapsforge library should scale the map according to screen density without the need of scaled themes. I could make SVG icon versions for that, but I'm not sure if the automatic works as well as having a manual choice.

I think that, if the theme uses png images, the icons are not scaled. The library now supports icons in svg format, but I have not tried any theme that use them.

It is true that the map can be automatically scale, but users may have different needs. I do not like the size of the items (roads, streets, ...) that are used by default, according to the density of the display.

Could be true. I just thought so as Atlas, an application for viewing mapsforge maps on Windows, zooms PNG icons a bit, so I thought this was because of automatic resizing.

I created all icons in Elevate in SVG format, they are the basis for the scaled PNGs. But I am afraid that rendering will be slower than with PNGs. I can easily make a test version.

Yes, I'm also not sure if an automatic is the best solution. Something like a scale factor by the user is better, at least for me. But it shouldn't just scale ways as in your example screenshots, the whole area should be scaled as in the automatic. E.g. the lake has the same size as all other landuses etc.

I played a bit with the beta, and the zoom factors have changed. What I got on my screen at Zoom 14 is at the same size Zoom 13 now, so all zoom-mins should be changed by 1 to have the same functionality as in mapsforge 0.3

Are you using mapsforge 0.4.3 release version?

I don't unterstand what you are talking about, but I tried all recommended themes without success. Icons are still tiny and in version 5.5.22 they are ok.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, we should have talked in the beta about that. I made an SVG testing version, icons can be scaled with this:

http://www.openandromaps.org/wp-content/users/tobias/beta/Elevate_svg.zip">//http://www.openandromaps.org/wp-content/users/tobias/beta/Elevate_svg.zip

Main issues:

- symbols don't have "glow" effect anymore and can be less legible

- transparency of colors in symbols don't seem to work, so some symbols don't look right

I'm glad when I can help a bit.

I tried your Elevate_svg without difference. On version 5.5.22 it shows a black screen and on version 5.5.23 icons are tiny as before.

Could it be a problem of my setup? Is there no one else with the same problem?

If not, the problem might be caused on my device?

What's your map scale factor? At the moment I can't get it to work properly, and it's best left at "1".

I changed it to 1 too now, but cant see any difference.

For the moment I zoom the map icons are bigger, but then

get tiny again.

The black screen is normal, since SVG graphics isn't supported in that version.

Check that:

* digital zoom is set to 100%

* scaling in the mapsforge settings is set to 1

* use a theme that works in the Play Store version of the app.

and then try another map that you haven't used before. Just to test, I'm having a partially similar issue.

I think I give up at the moment.

I played around a bit with all parameters. At present time it is best with zoom 300% and scale factor 5.

But icons aren't still as big as in version 5.5.22
