Hallo everybody, I'm new here and I'm writing about an issue i wasn't able to find out a convenient answer to.

As long as I know, HGT files contain data referring to WGS84 geoid, isn't it? Well, all topographic maps are linked to a specific datum (whether it is EU50 or WGS84 or anything else): when i load a map in Orux, the program automatically links HGT heights to groung coordinates found on the map. Does it automatically convert map datum to WGS84 to fit data OR should I have to previously convert map datum to WGS84 to get a sensible output?

Question number 2: is there a way to easily convert Oruxmaps files from one datum to another one?

Thanks to all

No idea?

I'm not sure I understand the question. You can display the height from DEM in the dashboard and compare it with quoted points on the map to see if they are interpreted correctly.

I think most maps are built with the WGS84 datum.

If a map is not built with that datum then the GPS chip will be returning WGS84 coordinates and it is these that will be used to reference the HGT information, not the map.
