Launch of OruxMaps no longer possible without a Google account being registered

I just noticed that since the last update to version 10.7.1, it is no longer possible to launch OruxMaps on my device (Pixel 6, Android 14) without a Google account being registered on the device. I am very surprised about this! For data protection reasons, among others, there are still solid reasons for individual users or applications to operate an Android smartphone without a Google account - technically this is not a problem and it does not contradict any guidelines! However, in my opinion, linking the usability of an app to the existence of a Google account is difficult to accept. I would therefore like to know whether this is intended or a bug and ask the developers to remove this problematic relationship.
