Hi guys,

I have a question about Bluetooth Smart heart rate belt.

Every kind of sensors supporting this protocol should be supported in oruxmaps or only specific brands?

I would like to buy this

http://www.decathlon.it/cardiofrequenzimetro-bluetooth-id_8288269.html">http://www.decathlon.it/cardiofrequenzi ... 88269.html">http://www.decathlon.it/cardiofrequenzimetro-bluetooth-id_8288269.html

as it is very cheap, but I do not know if it will work with oruxmaps.

Thanks

Hi;

the protocol should be the same for all bt smart heart rate devices.

BUT I have only tested with the polar H7 device.

ok, thanks.

just out of curiosity: that would be the same for standard bluetooth devices, or in that case proprietary protocols are needed?

Hi all,

I have tested the polar wearlink+ and it does NOT work with my device and Oruxmaps. Oruxmaps tries to reconnect the polar in a endless loop without success even if the polar is already paierd in the android blutooth settings.

With other apps (google my tracks, locus) the polar works without problems.

My equipment:

Sony Xperia Go (ST27i)

Android 4.1.2

Kernel Version 3.0.8+

OruxMaps 5.5.14

Polar wearlink+ blutooth 2.0

Update: With my Nexus 7 and Android 4.4.2 the polar wearlink with BT2.0 works fine with OruxMaps 5.5.14.

Unfortunately I have now a small waterproof smartphone which is ideal for outdoor activities but cannot connect to the polar and a tablet which can connect to the polar but is not suitable for outdoor activities

Is there a change that in a future orux release the polar works together with Android 4.1.2 ? Or is that a special Sony problem? I wonder that google my tracks works fine on the xperia.

Hi;

I do not know what is the problem with your phone, but I think this hear monitor device works fine with OruxMaps.

try:

--uninstall/install again OruxMaps.

--restart your phone.

--select the bluetooth in oruxmaps settings (check that you select the rigth device)

--try to conect again.

Buenas tardes,

I have Samsung Note II with latest Verizon updates, it is NOT rooted.

I simply hit checkbox for Smart Bluetooth and did the simple pairing process within Oruxmaps. It worked right away !

Note:  SmartBluetooth cannot be paired in Bluetooth settings of phone since the latest release of firmware, by Verizon, does not use it. You can only get the phone to see/pair when using a specific application that is smart enough to use Smart Bluetooth.

NOTE TO DEVELOPERS!!!

- At the hiking store, I paired a demo MIO Alpha and when I started the HRM it immediately displayed my heartrate; thats the good part. Knowing it works, with Orux, I bought one. This one also very quickly paired, in Orux, but would not display any heartrate info on dashboard. I could start the HRM and see the max/min/average icons I have setup on my dash, but they all remained at 0.  I re-paired it and tried every combination and no luck.  Using a suggestion from above, I deleted the orux program from my phone and reinstalled. Luckily I had saved my profile first; the reinstall found my profile and my dashboard settings were restored. Only after the re-install, and re-pairing, did the heartrate info show up on dashboard.

FWIW, I believe that the limiting factor with connecting BT2.0 to OM, is the hardware not being BLE compliant.  Nexus7 v2 works while Nexus7 v1 doesn't.

Hola, recordad que son necesarias dos cosas:

1.-El SO sea compatible con BLE (en la actualidad android 4.3 ó superior)

2.-Que el hardware sea compatible con BLE (depende del tlf)

For unknown reasons, my first post did not reached the forum. ???

I know that Oruxmaps will work with the Polar H7, if the phone is on

Android 4.3 and has BLE (aka. Bluetooth Smart).

Samsung offered for Android 4.2 a dedicated BLE SDK to support BLE

on their capable phones (like the S4 and the S4 Active).

I tested two applications from the Play Store to verify, that the Polar H7

is also working on Android 4.2 for Samsung S4 and S4 Active.

Unfortunately there is no Android 4.3 for the Samsung S4 Active, yet.

Would it be possible to have a look at the Samsung BLE SDK to see, if

it is feasible to support BLE on Samsungs 4.2 based smartphones in

Oruxmaps?

This is the link to the Samsung BLE SDK:

First i must say, thank you, for this nice piece of software.

Last week I updated my Samsung s4 active to kitkat.so I directly ordered a mio alpha link(without display)

I can pair this device with orux, but I don't see any data.I already deinstall and reinstall Orux, no success.

With other apps(selfloop) it works.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

Edit: in between it works like a charm.

I had to start the hrm via tracks than start hrm.

I am having the same problem. I am using a S4 and all my apps detect the heart rate monitor with no problem.

I have it paired with Orux, but when I select start HRM it cannot connect.

Also how can I start HRM via track? Like the user above?

Thanks, also Great app

I am having the same problem. I have a S4 and my HRM works great with all my apps but it doesn't connect with Orux. I have it paired but when I select "start HRT" nothing happens. In some occasions it works but most of the time it doesn't connect.

Also how can I start the HRM as the user above says.

Thank you
