Hi Tobias,

I just update Orux to the last version.

Now it uses mf0.5

Some streets are looking a bit crazy now:

Hi Thomas,

Are you using one of the new versions for OruxMaps (Elevate 2.3 or 2.4)? What dpi does your display have and what Elevate size are you using?

Best regards,

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Version 2.3

Samsung s4 with hires screen.

XL version.

If there is a 2.4 version, I will test that after work.

I just read in the other thread that you're using the latest beta, I thought you meant the newest release version.

I haven't tested the new beta yet, the themes are made for the release (=play store) version. I will release an adjusted version once the new version is no beta anymore, maybe a test version in advance. At the moment I'm quite busy otherwise, so I hope it takes some time until the release ;-)

Maybe the normal version of Elevate (means not the OruxMaps/Locus versions) work better again with the beta version.

Best regards,

Tobias

No big problem.

Only city areas having this crazy circles.

In the "outback" everything seems ok.

Hi, Tobias;

You are right, the final version will take more time.

But the mapsforge libraries that are added to the current beta version should be the final libraries (0.5.0) including the support to renderthemes v4,

Yes, I'm already playing a bit with that, thanks for the quick move to 0.5.0

Because of rendertheme v4 and all its new possibilities I'm really looking forward to use it, but that means I'm not just gonna fix those turning circles, but lots of new stuff (easier variations with styles, permanent display of elements, priorities, symbol positioning, svgs...) - sounds like fun and I will need the time till release to add it all, so it's good to have the beta version already.

Tobias

I am working on a new version Elevate 3 which builds on the new abilities of mapsforge 0.5 which is used in the latest OruxMaps Beta version 6.4.0beta3 and higher.

Here is a preview with svg icons:

This is work in progress, and by far not feature complete. A release version (probably with a PNG icon version, different sizes and Elements variation) will come with the play store release of this OruxMaps version.

I just made a quick conversion of Elevate 2.4, so it's not much tested.

I'm happy for bug reports like this:

Wow that was a fast implementation.

Looks great.

Turning circles are also ok now.

One idea:

If I select "cycling" style, I can select mtb.

Now OM shows colored trials.

When I uncheck MTB OM should show a normal path/way.

Is that possible with the new theme format?

Danke Thomas

Thanks for testing and finding this bug :-)

It just happened because you can switch off paths with mountain bike scale, what you couldn't till now. I will include a fall back path rendering for that case.

Tobias

Small update (before concentrating on Elevate 3.0 for mapsforge 0.5):

2.4.1 25/01/15

- added separate color for regional cycling routes (violet)

- removed place_of_worship from historic (like wayside_shrine)

eartrumpet

Here's a new preview version:

There are many advantages with the possibilities of priorities for rendering captions and symbols, place names are much more reliably shown. Also I put all symbols into switchable categories. All hiking routes can be switched off as well, and also strong cycling and hiking routes for high zoom levels are now possible. Additional test and implementation of the new abilities are planed, therefore just a preview version:

Hi Tobias,

I did a short test.

Some ways are dashed, so it looks a bit confusing.

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/02/18/98a454a7f84a13996606664aee7c0439.jpg">

I think in the past it was different.

Wouldn't it be better to paint a solid line with dashed filling, like tiramisu?

What do you think?

Hi Thomas,

thanks for your feedback. I've always used dashed to symbolize deteriorating track quality, something that I know form paper maps. The shorter the dashes, the worse the quality of the track, see also the map key: http://www.openandromaps.org/en/legend/elevate-mountain-hike-theme">http://www.openandromaps.org/en/legend/ ... hike-theme">http://www.openandromaps.org/en/legend/elevate-mountain-hike-theme

For me it's easier to see in bright light with a short look, than different shades of similar colors. So I stick to it - but it's nice to have choices :-)

Tobias

You're theme is really amazing now Tobias.

Each "sub theme" stores his layers settings. Perfect

City- I switched all on,

Bike- I switched some off.

I used in the past the xl version.

With the new mf engine I use the svg version. Looks good.

Font scale I set to 1.1 symbol scale to 1.2.

I am sure, Orux will solve also the language bug, but with the workaround it is ok.
