What does zoom level 72@8 mean?

I don't understand the cryptic zoom level descriptions such as "72@8". What do they mean?



I would find it much more informative if instead it would show the zoom level as " 1:25.000" for example.



Maybe that can be changed in a future version of oruxmaps?

72 is the measure of map visualization (in percent), the "optimum" is 100%)

8 is the zoom level

zoom level 0: 256 pixel ~ 40 000 km (long of equator)

zoom level 1: 256 pixel ~ 20 000 km

zoom level 2: 256 pixel ~ 10 000 km

.

.

and so on.

It simple math.



(I think it come from google earth size of  tiles)



You see the real ratio is depend of Your screen.
