Hello Orux,
in beta 31 I still get the same error when I start the calibration process after selection the points:

I definitely have writing permissions in my map folder on the external storage: To test this, I used it as 'routes, tracks directory' and the export of a track as gpx worked well. I tried with the image in DCIM, download and map folder with the same result.

Regards

Hello!
What happens when you create an offline map from an online map?

If you go to settings-->application storage-->maps directory, and you select a folder, does the app warn that it can't write when you make the selection?

Hello Orux,
using b31 (or b28) on Android11 two strange thing when I wish to share statistic of a recorded track:
1.recoderd track has a thumbnail, but you lose it when you select "share a screen capture with the Track statistics", that is there is only a useless square edged with red
2.  taken screen capture upload a online map I never used, as  I work with offline  openandromaps and I'd prefer that statitics use this map

Sorry for these very very little things in  your great work!
Hello!

That place is for the picture you have selected in your user profile, not for the thumbnail, because the track can be seen in the map below.

The map always was an online map, but in next versions you will be able to load any map.

Hello Orux,
the path to my oruxmaps directory is '/storage/62..-..../oruxmaps' and so my standard map folder is '/storage/62..-..../OruxMaps/mapfiles/'. I have an alternative maps directory '/storage/emulated/0/oruxmaps/mapfiles/' (which is standard an Android < 11).

Creating an offline map from an online map works perfectly -> the map is in my standard maps folder on the external storage.
No warnings come up when I select a folder in my oruxmaps folder on the external storage.

After playing around with the standard profile, I found out that 'Image to map' works when I use the maps folder on my internal storage as standard maps folder. The error only appears when I have set a folder on my external storage as standard maps folder.

Hello,
I have a map folder named M11b with 2 files inside:

  • M11b.otrk2.xml
  • OruxMapsImages.db
They have been built with MOBAC and Oruxmaps Sqilte format. I used to use MOBAC since a long time now without any problem.
When I use Oruxmaps, impossible to see this map M11b:

I can see the folder in the "Switch map" screen:

I think it's due to the size of the 4.10GB.
I have same kind of folder with 3.78GB and it's working well.
Please, what is your opinion about my problem?
Regards.

If you don't see the map, then the app can't read the database.

Android has long used file systems where size does not matter.

If you store the maps on an external SD, check the file system it uses. If it is FAT32 then the problem is the size of the file. That file system does not support it.

Hello Orux,
My Map files are all on a SD card.
I don't know how to check the file system of my SD card. I think that the file system is not guilty because the file is visible via my android file explorer:
.

Another thing is that I can see the big file "M11b" in the "Switch map" screen:

For you, Oruxmaps is able to handle files bigger than 4GB?

Regards.

PS : I put this file on the main memory of my Smartphone ==> same problem  >:( :-\

Sorry, sorry!
I'm confused.
I think I made an error.
Two files was for the same region. It was not possible for me to see M11b because M12b was above:

One more time, I'm sorry for your time loose.

Regards.

Hello Orux,

with RC1 I have the same problem with 'image to map' like I had with beta 31: I get the message 'Error creating the map folder!' when the standard map folder is on the external SD card whereas it works when the standard map folder is on the internal storage.

It's an old problem with the damn Android SAF. The app cannot create files on the SD in the old style.

The version I just uploaded does the same thing as the map maker, creates them on internal storage and then tries to move them to SD.

Hi Orux,
it works perfectly now, thanks a lot.

Hello Orux,
I found two problems with the Wikimedia Commons pictures:

1. When I use this function, the photo waypoints are shown for half a second, then they disappear. I have to remove the overlay and repeat this a few times until the waypoints are shown permanently. Sometimes it does not work at all.

2. Once again the problem with the Android SAF: when the picture directory is  on the external SD card and I want to load the Wikimedia picture, the app says 'Fetching the image from the internet, wait ...' but nothing happens. With the picture directory on the internal memory loading the picture works perfectly.

Hello,

I've got a question about Track Statistics.
I don't understand the parameters called "Ascending Distance" and "Descending Distance"
Can you have a look at the picture below? I'm talking about numbers 61.84 km and 85.26 km:

I put in attached the GPX file.

On other tracks these values are at 0. When I use the function "Correct Altitude" these values change and seem OK. If I use one more time this function on this file the values change again in a large amount.
It seems something goes wrong with these parameters.

Regards.

Hello!

Please, try with RC2.

That value is new, the old tracks does not have that value calculated, because of that is the 0 in old tracks.

Hello,

Now it seems to be OK. I will make more recordings and I will be back to tell more.

Is there an easy way to force Oruxmaps to compute these 2 values "Ascending Distance" and "Descending Distance" on old tracks?
I do this by using the function "Correct Altitude" but I'm not sure it's the cleverest way.
Is there a solution to compute these numbers without changing others data of the tracks?

Regards

PS:
The function "Simplify" compute the tracks and gives us too a number for these 2 parameters even there was "0" before.
