QGIS WMS Server and OruxMaps tile issue

Hi, I'm trying to use qgis-server-2.14.11 to serve tiles to my tablet running OruxMaps 7.0.2. The server seems to be working fine in that it returns tiles when I request them but they are taller(?) than the requested boundarys. It works fine when loaded as a WMS layer with qgis. I used wireshark to capture some of the requests my tablet made and requested them with a browser then georeferenced them back into qgis as a test.

The grey squares are the returned tiles, the darker grey is where the tiles overlap.



I would expect the corners of the tiles to coorespond with the coordinates of the request but they extend above and below. Perhaps OruxMaps is making an incorrect request and qgis-server is doing it's best. My project CRS in qgis is set to EPSG:4326 and that is what OruxMaps is requesting so I don't know if that can be an issue. The coordinates OruxMaps is requesting don't seem to be square so I don't know....

Are these issues familiar to anybody? I know other ways to get maps to my tablet, namely the slippy map tile generator script and MOBAC to stuff the tiles into a database. I would be really happy if I could skip those steps and access my WMS server directly.



I should probably point out that OruxMaps doesn't really like my server url, I have to create a wms_services.xml file, I can't get it to accept it using the WMS creator option in the app. While trying to add my WMS server in the app with wireshark I can see Orux request the GetCapabilities and my server respond with the appropriate xml file. Should I post that file?

Hello;



I think the problem is the coordinate system-> &SRS=EPSG:4326



are you sure that your server is using that SRS?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately my server is just on my network. I don't have a fqdn. Plus I'm scared to open port 80 on my desktop to the internet. I'm pretty sure the server is using EPSG:4326, that is what is's set to in my project file and the WMS reply indicates is's available. I am learning as I go along. As I'm posting this I realized that the response from the GetCapabilities is indicating version 1.3 WMS while the requests I posted earlier from the WMS server I forced into OruxMaps with the wms_services.xml file are using version 1.1.1. Perhaps that is why my url won't work with the WMS creator in the app. My server will reply using 1.1.1 if that is in the request. Thanks again for your help and let me know what else I can do. Hello,





I don't know much about gis servers, but all the servers I know, the tiles returned always match with the tile request.



If the server supports epsg:4326, you can use OruxMaps to see a WMS of your zone, they should work fine, as expected,
