I have been using OruxMaps for 10 years without problem, when changing from Samsung Galaxy S9 to S23 Ultra I decided to buy OruxMaps v.10.7.3 GP from the Play Store and I was very happy and working wonderfully, but with the update to Android 14 when recording a track apparently records the route correctly, BUT as I travel km on MTB it changes the lines in straight lines, and for example a route of hours when traveling a mountain changes the track to 3 straight lines forming a triangle and the records of data corresponds to that adjustment and not to reality

I already checked the configuration, permissions for Android and OruxMaps, changed to older versions of OruxMaps, etc., etc., I was already investigating and I have NOT been able to solve the problem

I would greatly appreciate your support, thank you

I thought it was directory permission issues on Galaxy S23 Ultra: Galaxy S23 Ultra\Internal Storage\Android\data\com.orux.oruxmapsDonate

But after reading in the forum, I recorded a one-way route setting the cell phone with a 10 minute screen timeout and it correctly recorded the track, but when doing the same return route but now configured with 30 seconds I opened another application and After 30 seconds the screen turned off, I recorded the track as a straight line

So the error must be between energy saving or applications running in the background?

Hello RGBandin,
did you change the permission for the location usage for OruxMaps in the Android settings from 'allow only while using the app' to 'allow all the time'? Maybe Samsung uses a different name for this, but it should be clear.

Hello what you say clearly reflects that the GPS is turned off.
To avoid this you must have .
Use GPS always.
Background Use Permission.
And no battery usage restrictions.

These are all app settings on Android, not within OruxMaps

Thank you very much for your comments, they have helped me a lot, I did a small test due to lack of time by turning off the Android energy saving and it seems that with that I recorded the track correctly, this weekend when I go out on the mtb I will test it in detail and I tell you, thank you

I configured my S23 ultra with Android 14 according to me with all the privileges from Android and also from Oruxmap so that it could run in the background and that the battery saving would not affect it, I even installed it several times and with different versions, and it always did the same, he drew a straight line or if he returned to the literal starting point he formed a triangle with straight lines on each side. The solution was to enter Android Settings, Battery and turn off Energy Saving, and with that a holy remedy

Indeed it is what I was telling you, energy saving can have different names depending on the model of phone and Android, but it must be deactivated in any of its ways for the recording of the route to be correct.
I'm glad you solved the problem, enjoy!!
