Hello all.

I have a .kml file with many waypoints that include a photo which is stored at a folder at my PC.
When I open the kml file with google earth at my pc, a photo is displayed when I point at a waypoint.

Can this be done at Oruxmaps if I import the kml file? Will it work if I copy the folder with the photos at my android phone and change the location at the kml files from src="file:///C:/DIR to /storage/android/DIR?

Hello japetus,
you can save your kml file with photo waypoints as kmz file in Google Earth. This kmz file is a zip file which contains your kml and the images. When you open this kmz in OM either as overlay or as route, you'll see your photo wayppints with a little preview image. By tapping on a waypoint you open its properties window where you can load the image in your phone's photo viewer.

Best regards

Thanks for your reply! I don't think though that it'll work for my specific case as the size of the photo folder is over 600Mb, I don't think oruxmaps could handle such a big kmz file..

There's only one way to know, test.
I have 350 Mb kmz files, photos and videos, Oruxmaps GP can manage.

Hello japetus,
you can use  your kml + folder but - as you wrote - you have to change the path to the pictures. I placed a folder called 'test' in the 'DCIM' folder on my internal storage. In this folder there is my kml file and a folder 'photos' with the pictures called 'p1.jpg', 'p2.jpg' and so on. The correct path in the kml is src="storage/emulated/0/DCIM/test/photos/p1.jpg".
I just created a 449 MB kmz with 210 pictures with GeoSetter and Google Earth, loaded it in OM and it worked lightning fast both as route and as overlay. I definitely would recommend the kmz way.
