I can no longer get waypoints imported. It used to work.
I have a normal GPX file. I have put it where I have imported others before, in the tracklog folder.

I can import it successfully using Track/route tools/Load KML/GPX file, and it appears on the map. Works perfectly except I don't see the waypoint numbers.

I go to Manage Waypoints. Then on the menu at the bottom to Import waypoints from external sources. I select the GPX file and press OK.
It says Waypoints loaded correctly.
But the waypoints are not in the list of waypoints!
I have tried many times.

Please help. I have attached the GPX file. I have OruxMaps v10.7.4 GP.

Hello Growltiger,
your gpx file doesn't contain waypoints (I checked it with notepad++ and several gpx viewers).
OruxMaps creates two waypoints when you load the file - one at the start, one at the end of the track. When you save the track to OM's database, these two points are also saved - at least in my case.
What do you mean by "waypoint numbers"? The distance indicators? You'll find the option to activate them in settings - user interface - tracks/routes/lines/letter sizes - draw distance indicator.

I added a gpx with three waypoints for testing.

@LENZ - Thank you so much. You are correct. I loaded the file into EasyGPS and saved it, and now I get both the waypoints and the route in the file. So my problem is solved.

I don't remember doing this before.

Has Oruxmaps ever been able to load a GPX file which contains a route and automatically create the waypoints as it loads? Surely that is what it used to do, or am I wrong?

It would be a nice feature.

Your original gpx contains routepoints (rtept) on everey change of direction and EasyGPS converts them to waypoints (wpt) (my test.gpx contains trackpoints (trkpt) on changes of direction and automatically and manually created waypoints). Up to now I never had to deal with routepoints so I don't know if OM had a function that converted rtept to wpt in the past. Maybe other routes from www.walkingworld.com contain waypoints instead of routepoints.
It could be useful to have waypoints for navigation following pathless routes with long straight segments but the route-/trackpoints should not be converted automatically as it could quickly clutter up the route. My test.gpx consists of 988 trackpoints on a length of little more than 2.5 km and you surely don't want to see them on the map.

Growltiger

Thank you again for your help. I agree, one certainly would not want trackpoints converted.

All the Walkingworld GPX files are the same format and have routepoints. I'm fairly certain that Oruxmaps used to automatically convert those routepoints to waypoints when one imported using Manage waypoints. I have several of those GPX files on my phone and also have their waypoints in Oruxmaps, so I don't see how I could be imagining it.

So a more accurate request is to please "Import routepoints as waypoints when importing a GPX file using Manage waypoints".

Lenz

I tried importing the routepoints with the the last free version (7.4.28) and it did not work. Maybe it worked in OM 8 or 9 but I never archived the apks.
If the function to import routepoints will be implemented, I think it will be necessary to let the user choose which points he wants to import: waypoints, routepoints, trackpoints or all of them.

Growltiger

In Manage waypoints import, it could count the waypoints as it imported them, and if there are zero then read it again and import any routepoints as waypoints.
At the moment it says Waypoints loaded successfully when there are no waypoints in the file.

Anyway I'm relaxed about it as I can easily use EasyGPS to make my files have both routepoints and waypoints, so everything works.

I'm still convinced it used to work.
