What DEMs are you talking about? I have a fetish for them. Almost. Seriously, are those publicly available? Many thanks

Autorouting and navigation is not supported if not by an external application, as far as I know.

For what matters offline maps, your best bets is http://www.openandromaps.org">www.openandromaps.org with a cycle theme. There are plenty of informations about it in this forum, on the opemandromaps site and 'on Google' in general.

GENERAL / How to lock the screen with north up?
July 25, 2014, 05:08:20 PM
Hello,

lately I keep flipping the map by twisting it by multy-touching the screen. I hate that, especially 'cause I can't find how to put it back as it was quickly, without entering "map mode -> north up" again.

Is there a way to quickly restore the map as it should appear in the overwhelming majority of occasions? Or, even better, to LOCK it that way?

I searched the "maps" settings but I could not find anything related.

Many thanks!!

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Re: Zonas cardiacas

I recently started to train in a heart rate conscious mode for endurance and power, and a way to monitor my zones from within oruxmaps would be awesome.

MAPAS/MAPS / Re: Problem with WMS CTR piemonte

eh, io nel we vorrei andare a fare un giro in Val Maira e sarebbe carino averle. A parte che il tempo non sarĂ  fantastico, eh.

That.

One coult take a long time to download a map from a slow WMS server. It is enough to tap its name for one second or two and bang! the map is deleted. No confirmation asked, no whatever. Gone!

Please add a pop-up window to ask "are you sure you want to delete the map XXX"?

Thank you! :D

Thanks,  but it is not what I was talking about.

The setting you mentioned configures oruxmaps so that is switch from a map to another according to the zoom level.

What I am suggesting is a way to have single maps that are very big.

With MOBAC it is possible to create big maps, but the FAT filesystem only allows files up to 4GB to be created.

Why not to allow a map to span over multiple (like, two, or more!) database files?

This way we would be unlimited in the size of our maps and we could download some big maps before heading towards a long vacation abroad where connectivity will be limited or non-existant.

Thank you!

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Map creator improvements
July 10, 2014, 11:36:26 AM
I'd like to have a "pause" and "resume" button. For instance, I want to leave home (and then my wifi) for one hour or more and then get back and resume the download.

If I hit "cancel" it just asks me to DELETE what's downloaded so far, so I never interrupt a download - this sometimes is not handy, I once left home without the phone so to allow the download to finish.

Also, please give the option for oruxmaps to stay active in the tray icon bar on the top when downloading. In this case I can happily do other tasks without being afraid of the download being interrupted. Often the process gets killed if I do other tasks and I don't notice that until I open it again and I have to resume the download.

Thank you :)

ERRORES/BUGS / Missing "what's new"
July 09, 2014, 10:36:18 PM
Perhaps it is only me, but it's a long time I don't get anything in the "what's new" window at any update.

So I thought it were only bugfixes.

I just discovered, though, that now upload to OpenStreetmap is supported!

This is great, but it would be nice to know that when updating rather than randomly perhaps a long time later (I had to reset my GPSies credentials and I saw the new OSM there).

Also if there are only bugfixes it would be nice to know.

I know that any coder hates to write documentation, but please! :)

Thanks

BETAS / Re: New beta 5.5.23betaXX

:?:  WTF is an overflow? I googled for "oruxmaps overflow" and I could not find a thing.  :?:  :) Thanks

Yeah, a separate app "OruxMaps BETA" with a clear description - like, "use this to test new features under development, not for daily use" could work.

I would use it with a separate path then, like /ext/sdcard/oruxmapsbeta , so to keep both environments totally separate and not to pollute each other. Actually this would be necessary in any case, eh, also by deploying the apk from the website for manual installation.
