ERRORES/BUGS / Announcements despite Disabled Alarm
August 05, 2024, 11:07:45 PM
Though route alarm is disabled OM (v. 10.7.1 GP) recently tells me:
"You are again on the route"
- after actually having been far from it or just a gps signal gap - while the alarm "far from route" really didn't sound.

I think or hope this isn't intended.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: BRouter - OruxMaps cooperation broken
September 20, 2023, 11:57:14 PM
Since I didn't get the mentioned OM update yet, I currently cannot confirm the bugfix.

Though https://github.com/abrensch/brouter/issues/627 reassures, too, there is a bug und and a solution will come up soon.

Thanks for your reply and the hint! As my install is from F-Droid I chose another way and did a downgrade from their repository.
And I opened an issue at BRouter's github repo.
We'll see what they say.

ERRORES/BUGS / BRouter - OruxMaps cooperation broken
September 07, 2023, 11:11:24 AM
I've used BRouter in combination with OruxMaps GP (10.1.8 GP) for biking and hiking for years. Finding routes and routing worked excellent till last update of BRouter app to v1.7.3 several days ago.

Now, not all, but many of the routing signs normally containing an instruction are displayed and announced just as "Waypoint" without any further information and so routing becomes useless.

Is anyone out there who faces the same issue and/or knows a reason or even better a solution for it?

GENERAL / Update issue - App restores paths
July 16, 2023, 04:00:57 PM
I'm facing the issue - and not for the first time after an app update - that the app restores all paths in "Global settings > App storage" to the private folders in "..Android/data/com.orux.oruxmapsDonate/files/oruxmaps" and I have to change them to the oruxmaps folder in the root directory.

I did the migration of the app data by hand and not by the built-in tool. Might this be the reason? Does the tool remove the private folders or add something that indicates that these folders are not the data source anymore?

Hallo Lenz.

"Konturlinien" -> "Höhenlinien"
geändert.

Quote from: Lenz on August 02, 2021, 06:02:37 PM
"Kartenfreigabe" -> "Karte teilen"

in "Geländeprofil" geändert.

Mit der Übersetzung des "GPS scroll" bin schon von Anfang an unglücklich. Aber "Scrollen" will mir einfach nicht gefallen.

Grüße

Claus

@dm413-om Thank you for opening this thread!
The behavior of the app you described for version 8.5.1 had been the behavior for more than 10 years and it's the only one it should be!
It's more than annoying to enter a PIN while riding a bike and recording a track, it's dangerous. So I don't agree with you only on one point.
Imho it is a horrible change or bug.

In general i have "settings->Application->Screen always ON" activated. I never change that.
When i am in track logging mode, and don't need the map visible & want to save battery, i simply press shortly the phones power-on/off button. Another short press on the power-on/off button turns on my Orux screen again.
And the phones power-on/off button is easier to touch in certain conditions on a bike,  than a "soft-button" on the screen.

I totally agree. The way I do it, too. Plus "Display brightness > DIM WAKE LOCK" for saving battery and especially situations when frequent actions are expired. A simple touch on the map and the screen gets bright again. So why a hard to find button on the bar?

@LaurentG : i don't understand why you need or want a  button "Screen always ON".

I'm using OruxMaps not only when hiking, but also when travelling in car.
And in such conditions, I don't need, and then do not activate track logging, so the option "settings->Application->Screen always ON" do not change anything.
Moreover, when I am in car, smartphone is continuously charging, so no issue with battery consumption.

Currently the unique solution consists for me in going into android parameters and set the option of display to the longest possible value (10 minutes in android 7 reviewed by Samsung), which is feasible, but
- a lot less easy than a simple button on OruxMaps
- and do not provide "always on" but only "less frequently off"....

What about tracking your car ride - even you won't need the track and you would have to delete it manually afterwards - with the settings "Screen always ON" + "Display brightness > BRIGHT WAKE LOCK"? This might solve your issue without toggling system settings.

Nein, Stefan Hönes ist keines meiner Pseudonyme :lol:

Ich weiß auch nicht, ob er noch aktiv ist. Mein Part sind ausschließlich die App-Strings.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: Graphhopper offline bugged?
April 05, 2019, 06:20:10 PM
@matt:

I succeeded in downloading the German files but are facing the same problems as mentioned in the OT. (Android version 7, LOS 14, OruxMaps 7.4.22)

You have to be patient. The complete download took hours as the upload bandwidth of the server seems to be very small and file size is huge. It was running overnight. Now I have 20 files in "europe_germany-gh" with 4.69 GB.

@orux:

It would be useful to notify users of the expected data amount and the fact that downloading would take a while. Also a warning that you shouldn't try it without a WiFi connection wouldn't be a fault.

Though I'm now owner of over 4 GB new data it doesn't work. The dropdowns on the route search contain double entries for fastest, shortest, car, bike and foot (?!?) and every attempt searching a route triggers an error.

Quote from: "geoffmozz"Is it possible to edit a saved track or route?
It you thought about adding, deleting, moving points, I'ld say no! You'll have to do it with an external tool.

Is there a special place where I can post this or where I can open an issue?

For this issue it isn't necessary anymore but if you'll find more concerning the German translation you can post them on the pinned thread http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1664">//http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1664

Hi,

if you expect an online tool like Crowdin, Weblate or similar where you can suggest, vote or comment, no there isn't.

App strings are organized in a large Google sheet which is shared with several persons of different nations that localize them.

If you don't agree with the French translation you have to contact the French translator for discussing your issues. I'll try to send him a note of this post.

GENERAL / Re: Saving Orux settings
July 24, 2017, 12:13:56 AM
Navigation drawer > Profiles > Settings button or Action bar > Menu button > Profiles opens the profiles' screen. Press the SD icon. Profiles will be saved in OruxMaps subfolder "Preferences". Back up all OM folders and migrate them to the new device.
