MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Re: Where did my data go?
June 05, 2023, 12:59:01 AM
I found it all and restored it eventually. Orux was not actually using the directory it said it was, though.

I found all the stored waypoints and tracks. It has lost all the associated folders, however. Remind me which file these are kept in?

MEJORAS/NEW FEATURES / Where did my data go?
May 30, 2023, 06:35:30 PM
After the last upgrade, and presumably migration back to the older file scheme, I have no tracks, waypoints, or folders in the app or the folders it says it's using. Strangely, I DO have all my uploaded offline maps in the app, although I can't find those files anywhere. Can I revert the migration or restore the database somehow? I have v.10.1.3 and Android 12.

MAPAS/MAPS / Caltopo mbtiles maps no longer working
June 30, 2020, 09:15:29 PM
Since about February of 2020, mbtiles maps I make with the Caltopo site don't work in Orux. The behavior is very strange. When I first load the map, it seems to locate it 3,700 miles away. With GPS on, it will time out and return to my current location, but immediately ask to load another map, and the map in question is not on the list. With "switch map here," it does not show up in the list. I have made many test maps now, with 15 and 16 as the highest zoom level. None work.

The Caltopo interface says Garmin mbtiles. These map works flawlessly for years. Any idea what might have changed? (I've posted to the Caltopo help forum as well.)

TIA for any help.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: update deletes all files
June 30, 2020, 09:01:30 PM
I don't run anything like that. I have a Pixel 3a. Maybe something like that is running without my knowledge.

The most recent upgrade. to 8.0.3 , did not clobber the files, which is good.  I'm backing up more frequently now, which is also good.  :D

ERRORES/BUGS / update deletes all files
June 12, 2020, 04:52:26 AM
This is so frustrating and so different from any other app on my phone. Every single time Orux updates, it erases every single file in the directory: profiles, map files, tracklogs, everything. I back up regularly, but I lose valuable information every single time. I still like this app, but this is getting super annoying.

Thanks for the reply. Two followups... 1) So, the waypoints, even stand-alone ones are in the oruxmapstracks.db? and 2) I have two preferences files, one which says "...oruxmapsDonate...". They were last updated at the same time. Do I need them both?

Which files would I need to copy off the Android device if I want to fully backup 1) tracks, 2) waypoints, and 3) settings?

Thanks for any assistance.

The latest update wiped out the oruxmaps directory and five years worth of waypoints and tracks on my phone.

I had never hit the "check and synchronize tracks" button in the updated app. All is well now.

How shall I send you the database file? I don't see an attachment option here or in private messages.

Sorry, I missed your reply.  Yes, the virtual folders. I created a lot of them when I was using the non Google Play version 7.2.1. Now that updates are back in Google Play, I installed v. 7.2.14. I can see all the same waypoints and tracks in both versions, but I only see them in my virtual folders in the older version.

GENERAL / Recover folder info lost in upgrade
May 14, 2018, 03:08:13 AM
On my Android phone, I just upgraded from the last version I had installed directly from the website download to the latest OruxMaps Donate on the Google Play store. I can see all my saved waypoints and tracks in either version, but in the new version I don't have any of my folder information. How can move this to the new version of the app?

GENERAL / Re: editing a track?

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I was able to figure it out in a simple text editor, but it was laborious, and I hoped that Orux might give an "undo last" option within the app.

MAPAS/MAPS / multi-layered maps in MOBAC?
July 24, 2016, 06:58:47 PM
How can I make multi-layered maps for Orux in MOBAC? It's quite frustrating when I zoom too far in in the MOBAC tiled maps I have made, and I wonder if multi-layers will solve this problem.

Thanks.
