GENERAL / Download link broken
June 28, 2018, 05:54:50 PM
On the OruxMaps homepage, the download link http://www.oruxmaps.com/OruxMaps7.2.14.apk">http://www.oruxmaps.com/OruxMaps7.2.14.apk brings up an error.

I assume this happened unintentionally.

Running OruxMaps 7.2.0 successfully on my Samsung Galaxy Tab3 GT-P5210.

Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2) from https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=169815">//https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=169815.

Am also running OruxMaps 7.2.1 on my old Samsung Galaxy S3 phone using LineageOS 14.1.

Hi all,

I migrated my 5 year old Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.3) to LineageOS 14.1 (Android 7.1.2). Have spent many hours getting familiar with things like root access, custom recovery and so on, but finally I decided to go for it. When asked whether I wanted my SD-card to be formatted for internal or external use, I went for internal. This will make the SD-card available for installing apps and storing data like maps.

Except a minor WLAN issue (no auto connect after WLAN off in standby) everything works fine. Got rid of all Samsung bloatware. More free storage, lower battery consumption. OruxMaps 7.0.17 with OpenAndroMaps is running great! Amazing how such an old phone can get a 2nd life!

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: bug on oruxmaps 7

Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.3, OruxMaps 7.0.2, latest OpenAndroMaps, Elevate theme.

Yes, it does take a little bit longer to fill the screen when panning around. But even with hill shading on (wow, this looks great) it is still acceptable for me. Will definitely stay with 7.0.2.

hm, right. I also have not found the "search address" in the new navigation drawer.

Is the new navigation drawer supposed to fully replace the action bar?

If yes, where has the "search address" function gone?

GENERAL / navigation drawer in 7.0.2
February 23, 2017, 09:18:13 PM
Hi all,

Am using OM since several years, but today's 7.0.2 update made me feel like a beginner again. Hope I'll be able to move up along the learning curve soon. For the time being I have action bar and navigation drawer both active.

(1) In the navigation drawer, 3 items are colored in red and are missing the little arrow to open the respective submenu: Tracks/Routes, Waypoints, Navigation options. Please explain.

(2) Action bar > waypoint menu > search address has been my favourite way to move the map center to a far away place. Is this feature part of the navigation drawer?

TIA, Markus

Hi Sigi

I prefer to edit my tracks on the PC. Take a look at GPS-Track-Analyse.NET.

A review (in German) of different tools is available http://gpso.de/software/">here.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: Oruxmaps crashes by zooming in
May 07, 2016, 05:37:25 PM
Hi Orux,

Thanks for all your efforts to solve this nasty problem. Here is my feedback:

Samsung Galaxy S3, GT-I9300, Android 4.3.

6.5.0: Everything ok

6.5.5: Crash on every zoom or pan

6.5.6 beta 1, beta 3: No more crashes, but rendering of new map tiles is slow.

I can live with 6.5.6 beta 3. Maybe I should add a new phone to my next XMAS wish list...

Hello Orux

Thanks for 6.5.6. No more crashes on my S3. Rendering still 3-5 times slower than it was in 6.5.0. Will use 6.5.6 during my upcoming vacation and report any new findings.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: Oruxmaps crashes by zooming in
May 05, 2016, 08:53:35 PM
Sorry Orux, of course you are right. My wish to roll back came from the fact that I'm leaving very soon for a hiking/biking vacation in Crete...

I'm using OpenAndroMaps and the Elevate theme. After a few more experiments, I found:

(1) Crashes occur less often when using the default mapsforge theme or the Tiramisu theme compared to the Elevate theme.

(2) It could be a performance problem: Map display buildup takes by factors longer than with 6.5.0., regardless of which theme I'm using.

I am most willing to run additional tests which may help to isolate the root cause of the problem.

Hello

6.5.5 is totally unusable on Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.3.

Crashing either right after start, or when zooming.

I want to go back to 6.5.0. Google Play Store says previous version is available on the website.

Did not find it. Please post a download link for the 6.5.0.apk

Thanks & regards

Brouter (offline, called from within OruxMaps) works OK once everything is installed and configured, but I prefer to create my (hiking) routes here:

There are 2 Java programs which I'm using under Win7 to open OAM maps:

Atlas: http://www.talent.gr/public/atlas/">//http://www.talent.gr/public/atlas/

MySwingMapViewer: http://www.augilabs.de/download/beta/MySwingMapViewer.rar">//http://www.augilabs.de/download/beta/MySwingMapViewer.rar

Both are working with online and offline maps, themes and offline routers.

GENERAL / Re: Plan a route - altitudes

Workaround for routes created with Brouter:

Export the route, then import it again to get altitudes.

See this excellent Oruxmaps/BRouter video tutorial for details:
