On my Moto X 2014 with stock 6.0 Beta6 force closes on start, I don't even see the splash screen. I don't know why I'm not asked to send a crash report...

It runs on my GPad 8.3 with stock 4.4

At a glance, immersive mode is fixed, fast switching of maps/themes looks like it's working ok. A very big progress, thanks.

Some nitpicking:

- it would be nice if the toggle state could be remembered. I switch maps all the time, Id prefer to have that module always open and close it if and only if necessary. I suppose others could say the same for themes.

- I'd put a cog icon on the right of every theme to access the sub-themes or, better, directly list the sub-theme with the cog to access the overlays (look at the fake screenshot I posted on page 2 of this thread)

- When we switch maps the screen goes blank and then it is redrawn. I remember we had the same behavior with zooming before. It would be nicer to paint the new map without clearing the screen first, like when we zoom. It would make it easier to compare different maps.

If the crashing issue gets fixed I'll try better on the field this weekend.

It curiously self-fixed on the Moto-X... it's working now.

Immersive mode is still broken, if I open a menu the bottom bar pops up and stays there, even after dismissing the menu.

Speaking of menus I also see a different aspect in 4.4 an 6.0. In particular the menu in 6.0 extends to the edge of the screen, in 4.4 there is a nice gap. Still having the issue that the menus expand to the right rather than on the left, thus being covered by my finger.

Maps display seems faster than before.

With last beta OruxMaps6.5.10beta6, On my Note 2 Android 4.1.2, right after installation, OruxMaps start correctly, but after a reboot there is a "force close" systematic.

If I uninstall and reinstall Oruxmaps, it works again until next reboot!

And I'm not asked to send a crash report...

It was good with previous beta OruxMaps6.5.10beta5..!

Difficult to test !

Also a cog icon next to "Mapsforge theme" main element for quick access of mapsforge settings would be great.

I also like the "edit navigation drawer" function. It would be even better to make it possible to remove subitems of the main elements, too.

Some redundancy: "mapsforge theme" and "switch map here" in maps, as those are now main items.

The transparent action bar in immersive mode with dark icons all the time is much better, only with active navigation drawer the navigation drawer symbol in the upper left corner is still changing with UI color.

Thanks also for adding "Map language" for multilingual maps, but this should only display all languages that are contained in the map, not all languages that OruxMaps support.

I just updated to beta 10.

1st impressions:

First start:crash after splash screen,  2nd start same crash.

From 3rd start it's working.

The editable drawer is nice, but only main menus can be hidden.

Sub menus would be more interesting.

With beta6 on my Note 2, Android 4.1.2

1) Installation OruxMaps -> start OK

After reboot, start still OK (for later use, backup file com.orux.oruxmapsbeta_preferences.xml)

2) Set maps folder on external sd card in the settings -> Start still OK

     After reboot, start still OK

3) Activation drawer in the settings -> Start still OK

     After reboot force close !

If restoration com.orux.oruxmapsbeta_preferences.xml file (saved before) -> Start again OK

Finally, there is always force close when:

Setting cards folder to external sd + activation drawer + reboot

If only 2 of these operations , OruxMaps start OK, with 3 opérations -> force close !

Hola.

Gracias

Quote from: "Maki"The latest attempt to simplify the preferences has been adding a "show advanced options" checkbox. IMHO this backfired, because if you go straight to a specific settings page you don't even notice it's there and you just miss the "advanced" options. I like it better what Nova Launcher, for example, does. For each card the most commonly used options are directly shown at the top of the list, advanced ones are grouped at the bottom with a toggle to open the list. So if you don't find something you were searching for when you reach the bottom of the list you immediately see there is more. Simple, clean and effective. Simply rearranging the preferences order could be more effective than hiding half of them.

I'd like to raise this point again. I had a phone call from a friend just yesterday; he installed OM on someone else phone and directly accessing the map preferences couldn't figure out why the map folder path wasn't there like on his own phone.

Speaking of beta6b, the immersive mode is half fixed. I still see the Android button bar raising when accessing a menu, which is a total non-sense, but it correctly disappears afterwards so it doesn't really hurt.

Beta6b update was OK.

I did some tests. I'm

Installing and starting beta5.

Update and starting beta6b, no crash.

Back to b5, update to beta6, one crash.

Have you solved that bug? Seems so.

See http://www.oruxmaps.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3775">this thread and think about all those who don't look for support and uninstall the app.
