Then the (useless) map should disappear.

It is only a rough overview on the smartwatch display.

If I'm offline (3G) stored tiles are still displayed on the smartwatch - right?

I have the cache Google Maps deleted.

On the smartphone or tablet no map is displayed (offline).

However, the map is still displayed on the smartwatch.

Even after restarting the smartwatch, the card sit there.

One area of the map are very accurate. All other areas are blurred.

Thus, the map is hidden on the smartwatch.

Google Maps!

The tiles are provided ONLINE.

OFFLINE probably goes just like Google Maps OFFLINE save.

Perhaps there are also (Google Maps) the Tiles and Oruxmaps makes use only of these.

As a freeloader.

Try me out.

Select uncharted territory - - Google Maps store and 'go' with Oruxmaps.

Let's see what I see.



Test result!

Oruxmaps (Tablet / Smarty) is NOT active.

(1) I am in an unknown city.

There is blurred everything.

Offline: Nothing happens

Online: After a while, the tiles are loaded.

Loading map!



(2a) I start Google Maps (online) on the tablet / smarty and 'wipe' to unknown destination.

The map is because online, saved and loaded.

OFFLINE turn now everything off: Wifi and UMTS



(2b) I start Oruxmaps Wear app -> Map

And wipe to the target point.

Simsalabim: The card is given exactly again. Base: Tiles of Google Maps on your tablet or smarty.

Oruxmaps (Tablet / Smarty) thus has NOTHING to do!

Offline: Wifi and data

Global Settings -> Maps -> Reset online cache -> ALL

==> There is no google map in the overwiew

Display is my offline map 'Rheinland-Pfalz'

Start app wear

Map -> There is a map diplayed.

Europe still has a good level of detail. America is only available in an overview. The ROW is not available.

I turned off the smartphone (tablet) and restart the smartwatch.

The map on the smartwatch is still displayed.

In the area where I have already been online the street names are displayed.

In the other areas only motorways and major highways.

The card must be therefore stored in the watch.

Offline or online maps are displayed on my watch.

(Unless the offline map is loaded from cache.)

But I can't see my track or my waypoints loaded and displayed on my tablet.

May be an user error.

I recommend to take map: NONE

The contrast is optimal 8-)

I see Oruxmaps beta on my watch twice, even though only one version is installed on my tablet.

I installed 6.5. 8beta3 (apk).

The tablet has a GPS fix.

The tablet has offline map in the background.

There is only one map on the clock: NONE  :!:

10 waypoints are visible on the map in the tablet.

No waypoints are visible on the watch -> User Error  :?:

It is so quiet here



Begin of July I planning a MTB trip to the Pyrenäen and already prepared my Orux with maps and tracks. But i think the watch will stay at home.

As long as it can't display offline maps and the map navigation is more comfortable I relay on my Garmin at the handle bar and the phone with Orux in my backpack/pocket.

But my experience: No Map is better, Only the track i want to hike, ride. swim, walk, fly

Warning, this is going to be long. And critic. Sorry about that. Rest assured I love your app, it's my favorite one and by far :-)



Please take this as constructive criticism. I really could switch to any other mobile OS at any time if it wasn't for OM...

Maki stated some good ideas.



With the side drawer OM looks nice, modern.

But together with menu bar, its often confusing.

Maps selection is in the sidedrawer, the other map stuff is in the menu bar.

The same with wp and tracks.

I would prefere removing the menu bar and get a fully featured side bar.

So we would get more place for the map.

The buttons from the menubar could optionaly moved to the buttons in the left/rigth buttonbar.

I use the program only for hiking.

I do not want to get lost the way. OM

I want to stay on the path.  OM

I want to get important points such as lookouts or refuges displayed.  OM

I want to use offline maps like OSM.  OM

It may happen that a track must be drawn on-site.  OM

For example a local hiking map or information board.

I want to let someone know if I am in danger.  OM

Thus my demands on OM are modest.



General App

- Save my setting is missing

- Overview of the displayed tracks on the map is missing



Wear App

- The map no longer asleep (Ambient Mode) -> Thanks a lot  

- No waypoints are displayed, may be limited to 10 specified points

- The SMS button is missing, because my wrist is always near
