Can anyone help me with this problem I am having installing my Google Play Store version of Oruxmaps using the .apk file?

I paid for Oruxmaps going through the Google Play Store and have it installed on my Samsung Tablet, installing it through the Google Play Store.  I have another Magellan Tablet in my off road vehicle, but this tablet can only install apps using .apk files, it can not access the Google Play Store due to being set up from the off road vehicle manufacturer (Yamaha) specifically for use in their vehicles.  I have installed beta versions of Oruxmaps on the Magellan Tablet without any problems, but would rather have my paid for version of Oruxmaps, so I don't get messages that the beta version is about to expire and quit working.

I extracted the .apk file from my Google Play version of Oruxmaps (GP 9.0.2) but when I try to install it on the Magellan Tablet I get the error message, "There was a problem checking the license.  Please download directly from Google Play", and then I have to click on "Accept" and Oruxmaps shuts down.

Is there a way to have my extracted .apk file of Oruxmaps GP 9.0.2 to include my license so the Magellan tablet will recognize my license?

Any help / suggestions will be appreciated.  Thank you.

A Yellow Arrow 25x41 pixels works really well and is very easy to see.

I have been trying to download some topo maps from open source "OpenTopo" with my Android (Samsung) Tablet using Oruxmaps Donate version 7.4.12 "online" and saving them for offline use.  The problem I keep running in to is that only about 40%-50% of the individual map tiles in the area I select will download, thus leaving a lot of blank areas in my downloaded map.  One area I have tried downloading with this happening is the Paiute OHV Trail System in Utah, United States.  The total area I selected to download, when selecting levels 7-15, is made up of just over 12,000 tiles and about 125 Mb in size, but when the download is complete it tells me I have over 7,000 missing tiles.  I had the same thing happen for another area in Kentucky, United States with a topo map of about 1,300 map tiles and 37 Mb in size, again selecting levels to download of 7-15, when the download is complete it tells me I have about 300 missing tiles.  It seems that when the total amount of map tiles selected to download reaches about 50% of the total tiles to download the download speed greatly slows down to a snails pace.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to try to avoid having missing tiles in their maps they download "online" with Oruxmaps?  Thank You.

ERRORES/BUGS / Re: v7.4.0 Donate - slow to open

I would try renaming the map files leaving out the symbols.  I know a space between words and also the symbol for a comma do not cause a problem because I have both in several names of my maps.

I completely recompiled the map that was not opening properly where the NOAA map was opening in place of the correct map, and again tried opening Oruxmaps and it opened quicker but now with the "Skip Map Check" box checked only 2 of my .img offline maps appeared in my map list until I refreshed the map list; and then again it took 85 seconds for the map list to refresh.

In this one map that is not opening correctly I did have the & (and) symbol and the ' (apostrophe) symbol both in the name of the map/mapfile.  I changed the name of the map to not include these 2 symbols and Oruxmaps now opens in it's normal 3-5 seconds, even with the box left unchecked for "Skip Map check" and also now when I refresh the map list in the offline tab the maps refresh in about 2 seconds.  It appears that something about 1 or both of the (2) symbols that I had in the name of the map, Oruxmaps did not like, even though it would work, it just took a long time for the map list to refresh.

Problem solved by removing the symbols being used as characters in the name of the map.

Hello!

If you click the 'refresh map list' button in the map selector view (offline tab), do you get any error message?

Check if the maps folder is right in global settings--maps--maps directory.

And select the checkbox in settings--maps--skip map check.

orux

When I clicked the "refresh map list" button in the map selector view (offline tab) I did not get any error messages, but again, it still took 85 seconds for the maps to refresh.

The "Maps Directory" path in the Global Settings for the offline maps is: (/storage/emulated/0/oruxmaps/mapfiles/) and this is the same that it has been for 2 years now.

I have always left the checkbox in settings--maps--skip map check - "Unchecked", and up until this new v7.4.0 Donate, OruxMaps has never been slow to open.  All of the older versions have always opened in about 3-5 seconds.

I just checked the box for "Skip Map Check" and then "refreshed map list" and again it took 85 seconds to refresh the map list with no new maps added in OruxMaps, but something that did happen is that on one of my custom .img maps when I click to open it, OruxMaps is erroneously opening one of my NOAA .mbtiles maps instead of opening the actual mapfile I have selected.  I am going to reinstall this particular mapfile that is not opening to see if it will open properly after reinstalling it.

ERRORES/BUGS / v7.4.0 Donate - slow to open
November 27, 2018, 07:02:52 PM
I recently upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Tab A, 8" Tablet, 16 Gb Internal Memory (Model T350, 1.5Gb Ram, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor) from Oruxmaps Donate v7.3.7 to v7.4.0 Donate and now Oruxmaps takes 85 seconds for it to open, when it would open almost instantly with v7.3.7.  When I open the OruxMaps App the OruxMaps red screen appears with the white circle, in the upper right corner going around, but the white circle indicating it is running continues to go around for 85 seconds until the app opens and then works without any further issues.  It repeats this same process every time I open the OruxMaps App.  I do have several (13) small custom .img files (mapfiles) on my tablet with custom .typ files for those custom .img files, but all of the files are very small in size.  The average size for the custom .img files is about 150 Kb with their corresponding .typ file being only 14 Kb in size.  I also have a few custom cursors  and (9) NOAA .mbtiles (mapfiles) that average about 30,000 Kb in size, plus 5 Overlays that are also very small in size, averaging about 30 Kb in size.  Nothing was changed on the tablet during the time of upgrading from v7.3.7 to v7.4.0.

Just wondering why this v7.4.0 Donate is now taking so long to open?  Is anyone else experiencing this after upgrading to v7.4.0 Donate?

ERRORES/BUGS / Unable to project a Waypoint
November 08, 2018, 10:48:23 PM
I am using the latest version 7.3.7 with custom vector Garmin.img maps and when I have the GPS on (Start GPS) and have it recording my track (Start Recording) I am unable to save/create a Waypoint anywhere in the map except for the location I am presently at; regardless of where I try to project the Waypoint it automatically creates the Waypoint at my current location.

I can project a waypoint anywhere I want to as long as the GPS is off and I am not recording my track.

Is this a bug or is this the way it is intended to work?  It would be nice to be able to save/create Waypoints where ever you wanted to, just by centering the map center symbol (cross-hairs) where you wanted to create the Waypoint even when the GPS is on and you are recording your track.

Thank you for the quick reply, and for providing a great app.  Look forward to the next version of OruxMaps.

Using OruxMaps Donate version 7.2.12, I have added "Ant+ Temperature" to my dashboard and the temperature is displayed, but only in Celsius, regardless of what I have the "Global Settings/Units/Temperature/F" set to in the "Units".  I would like for the temperature to be displayed in Fahrenheit.  Any suggestions on how to make the temperature be displayed in Fahrenheit? Or is this an error/bug in the software?  Thank You.

Thanks, joez.  I have tried refreshing the maps and also completely closed Oruxmaps and reopened it and the maps still don't appear that are stored on the Sd card.

MAPAS/MAPS / Offline Maps stored on Sd memory card?
April 14, 2017, 05:25:45 PM
Is anyone having success storing their offline multi-layer maps on the memory card for their phone or tablet?  When I change the General Settings to read the memory card for Offline maps, Oruxmaps does not see the maps; sd card://oruxmaps/mapfiles.

Per the Oruxmaps Manual v7.0, on page 24, it discusses saving Offline maps to a memory card and indicates it should work.

Anyone have any suggestions to get this to work?
