--Two different algorithms to calculate altitude differences. It can be selected in global configuration - Tracks -> Altitude calculation algorithm:
a) Point to point. It is the preferable in general. It should work better with very bad GPS calculating altitudes, or on flat terrain.
b) Threshold difference. Perhaps it works best in mountainous terrain, and with GPS that measure the most accurate altitude.

Muy buenas! Pues a mí no me funciona lo de la copia de seguridad a Drive por lo menos cuando intento forzar una. Me sale un mensaje de error en la barra de notificaciones. La aplicación a la hora de configurar me ha pedido permiso y se lo he aprobado.
Luego una consulta, si no quieres que se borren las copias de seguridad de Drive cada XX días, cómo se ha de especificar?

Con el tema de la copia de seguridad en Drive me surge otra duda. Yo, por ejemplo, tengo instalado oruxmaps en varios de mis dispositivos y en todos ellos la cuenta para gestionar oruxmaps es la misma. Cuando en el primer dispositivo he activado el tema este de la copia de seguridad me ha abierto una ventana de Google para dar permiso a oruxmaps, permiso que he dado lógicamente, pues bien, cuando he ido a mí segundo dispositivo ya no ha abierto esa ventana para autorizar a la aplicación. Si son dispositivos diferentes como se guardarían la bases de datos? Se solaparian entre ellas? Habrá opción para restablecer la base que queramos? Por otro lado, esas bases de datos van a estar visibles para nosotros en la aplicación de Drive o quedan invisibles a nosotros y solo disponibles para oruxmaps?

Por otro lado y enlazando con mi anterior mensaje, también me da error intentar hacer la copia de seguridad programada. Puede tener algo que ver con tener más de un dispositivo con el mismo usuario?

Luego y ya en tema peticiones/ mejoras, sería posible hacer algo en la aplicación para poder usar mapas ruteables, como los que ya hay libres de Garmin p.ej, de tal manera que cuando carguemos un gpx, oruxmaps nos haga indicaciones de giro como hacen los ciclocomputadores y otros?

Me termino de dar cuenta que tras haber instalado está última beta, ahora en mis dos teléfonos, en el cajón de aplicaciones, tengo ahora dos iconos de acceso a la beta. Uno de ellos solo abre la aplicación si previamente la has abierto desde el otro, si no intenta abrir y se cierra sin más. En cuanto quitas oruxmaps de la memoria es cuando ya no abre la aplicación con ese icono. Los dos teléfonos son android 7. He probado a desinstalar la beta y al volver instalar vuelve a generar los dos iconos nuevamente.

Publicada nueva beta, que debe resolver los dos problemas detectados.
La copia funciona así:
--hay que especificar XX días entre intentos de copias. Si pones 1 o menos, intentará hacer la copia diaria. Por defecto cada 7 días.--hay que especificar ZZ días para que borre las bases de datos antiguas, por defecto 21.

1.-comprueba los .gpx, .kml,... que hay en la carpeta de Tracks y sube los que no están ya en Drive. Ojo, si se cambia el contenido de un fichero (pero no cambia el nombre) no se actualiza en Drive (de momento).2.-sube la base de datos completa oruxmapstracks.db añadiendo la fecha al final del nombre.3.-borra las bases de datos de Drive cuya fecha es ZZ días más antigua de la actual subida.
Lo de las bases de datos que quedan en Drive, es importante que queden más de una, para evitar un problema típico si solo dejamos una: Cuando Android detecta que una base de datos está corrupta, directamente la borra y la recrea de nuevo vacía. Si se hace una copia de seguridad inmeditamente, y se borran todas las bases de datos antiguas, habrá una copia de seguridad de una base de datos vacía. También sirve para correjir errores si nos damos cuenta que hemos borrado cosas de la base de datos que queríamos conservar.

Por lo tanto por defecto habrá en Drive una copia semanal, y tres copias antiguas separadas cada una por una semana.

En tu carpeta de Drive podrás ver en todo momento los ficheros creados, para eliminarlos, restaurarlos a mano,...

Si tienes instalaciones diferentes en varios dispositivos, usará la misma carpeta, no tengo claro cómo gestionar eso...

Referente al tema de la copia de seguridad en diferentes dispositivos te puedo comentar que uno de los teléfonos me pidió volver a vincular con una cuenta de Google y efectivamente se hizo la copia de seguridad, en el otro teléfono sin embargo no me solicito volver a vincular y sin embargo me ha hecho la copia de seguridad en otra cuenta de Google con la que inicialmente use para vincularlo. Entonces de manera simple se pueden usar cuentas diferentes para dispositivos diferentes pero con mismo usuario, siempre que de la opción de activar una cuenta por dispositivo.

gracias por esta nueva beta. He probado lo de la copia de seguridad en Google Drive y va muy bien. Simplemente un detalle, el oruxmapstracks.db me lo ha copiado dos veces, no sé si es normal o no.

Yo uso ficheros DEM y tengo activada la opción 'Altitud DEM' en 'Configuración global - Sensores - GPS'. Significa esto que, como yo espero, oruxmaps va a dar por buenas las lecturas de altitud y no aplicar ningún tipo de filtro/suavizado, o va a aplicar el algoritmo que se haya seleccionado aquí?

Lo mismo. En la beta 3 también presenta la misma anomalía, al igual que en la 4.

Get the same database error in all beta's. Have a lot of directories. Some of them are suddenly empty, some have tracks. A newly created track with the improved drawing tool doesn't show up in the track list. When I switch to the stable Version (which is installed in parallel) I can see and open those newly created tracks.

Same error as above, when starting a new tracklog the window quickly disappears and says error sql database.

I am upgrading from version 8.0.beta8

I really don't want to start clean but I guess I can backup the folder and try starting new.

2 issues detected in Beta3

I noticed these 2 issues (not sure to be bugs):

1) The Scale indicator in the Dashboard does not change indication while zooming in or out using off-line Garmin IMG maps.
2) When terminating a course recording, the trace is anyway saved in the local dBase even if the X (Cancel/disregard) button is selected. OK, this is good to keep as is to avoid to unvoluntary delete a course just recorded, however, it would be removed the button or grayed out.

Huawei Nova5T specific limitation

Hello Orux,
I gave a try to the magnetic compass function and I noticed that with my Huawei Nova5T the integrated compass is never (never) automatically calibrated.
This is not an OruxMaps problem, but it would be case to add a a notice/ splash screen each time the App is executed in order to remind the user to calibrate the magnetic compass before taking for good the readout.

No way to update/create/reload thumbnails also with Beta4

Hello Orux,
this problem pop up first with 8.0.x beta and it is still present in the last Beta4.

As per attached screenshots, it is clearly evident that the map is OK, while the saved thumbnail it is not.
I tried and re-tried in different way to regenerate/reload the thumbnails, but I couldn't.

I suppose there is a bug.

otra cosa a propósito de la copia de seguridad en Drive: el mensaje que aparece en la barra de notificaciones cuando se está haciendo una restauración es igual que el que aparece cuando se está haciendo una copia de seguridad, lo cual es confuso pues da a entender que se está haciendo exactamente lo contrario de lo que se pretende.

The moving time is totally crazy :

Try in last beta selecting 'default map' for thumbnails in Tracks settings.


There are some maps providers (OSM for example) that return a black tile under some circumstances, an error, for example. The app tries to regenerate only the thumbnails with no thumbnail, but not those with black background.


I have to find a solution...

I tried what you suggested but it did not work in my case.

I gave it 2 tries, first selecting "default map" as you said and the second time selecting "OpenTopoMap".
Both times I issued the "thumbnails rebuild" options 2 times to be sure the command was issued.
But, not resolution. My 2 thumbnails are still black black.

Anyway, the problem did not occur anymore and it is not critical. It may be not the case for you to invest time on solving this minor issue.

Beta 4 related total ascent calculation issue

Hello Orux,
one of the last times I tested the Beta 4, I voluntary disabled the DTM elevation model and I had a totally wrong total ascent calculation: 11.300m (wrong) against approximately 7.900m (real). Altitude algorithm was Threshold difference in both cases.

I had no time yet to verify if this problem is present also in Beta 6.

btw is there a way to batch move tracks to folders?, I looked but it seems you have to go to each track and assign a folder, this is not a huge priority but it would be a nice feature to have.

I just tested : OruxMaps8.2.0beta6

First, there is a major improvement on .map vectormaps loading time compared to version 7.4.22 !!

My config :
* Samsung Galaxy A5 2017

Bugs:
* Map Settings > Map orientation > Map north up => the map still turns with fingers
* Map Settings > Load maps automatically > Never
** OK: it does not load a map when moving away from the map support
** KO: a new map still loads when zooming above the maximal available layer, from the selected offline map to another offline map (this is not the case in v7)

Comments:
* The measure icon is now in the main left menu, which is not very convenient when measuring multiple segments.
* The easiest way I found to measure is to use "Route > By hand" then "cancel".

Hello!

The reload thumbnails does not solve the black background issue because the app sees that there is a thumbnail.
The only way to force a new thumbnail creation is in the Track statistics display. Tap the thumbnail, then say yes to reload.
It should work with black tiles (if you select the right background map).

Hello!

Check the route altitude profile, maybe the GPS is providing very bad altitude values. In those situations, select the other altitude calculation algorithm.

No, there is no other way.

map rotation -->North allows rotation with gestures, but when you reset the map position it returns to North up. Useful if you have rotated maps.
disable map auto load with zoom in map settings-->zoom settings
I do not understand the problem with measure icon. You can modify the button bars and add/put other buttons in settings.

I've been digging through mapsforge libraries a bit, and I think I've found the solution. The problem was that the library thought that the app used a single thread to create tiles, and did not do certain steps. Changing something, it should already work in the following beta.

Hello!

The reload thumbnails does not solve the black background issue because the app sees that there is a thumbnail.
The only way to force a new thumbnail creation is in the Track statistics display. Tap the thumbnail, then say yes to reload.
It should work with black tiles (if you select the right background map).

Beta 9 strage behavior/bug: GPS altitude stuck at elevation of the starting point.

Hello Orux,
I tried beta 9 on a long (25km) mountain walk and for the first 15km or so the displayed GPS measured elevation was stuck to the elevation of the starting point (the DTM elevation instead was correctly reported accordingly with the current position).
However, despite this "error in the panel" the elevation points recorded were good and the total ascent calculated as well good.

Uno de los chicos del grupo de Telegram (Agus) descubrió lo siguiente:
En la última Beta al usar la opción "Corregir Altitud" para los Tracks por medio de DEM, el Servicio Online de Elevaciones o el Filtro de Suavizado se hace efectiva la corrección pero no crea un nuevo track corregido ni conserva el anterior.
Al parecer corrige y borra el anterior, esto sin haber  marcado la casilla "Borrar Antiguo".
Se hicieron varias pruebas en diferentes móviles y el resultado fue el mismo.
Puedes verificarlo?

You can check if the Track is simplified if you edit the Track. You should see less Track points

Acabo de notar algo con la nueva Beta.
Al tratar de cambiar el Algoritmo para Cálculo de Altitudes el Apk se cierra o se reinicia.
Android lanza el aviso de "OruxMaps continua fallando", cerrar App...
Si trato de cambiar el algoritmo, Orux se reinicia, y al tratar de hacerlo por segunda vez Orux se bloquea.
Ocurre lo mismo al tratar de cambiar el Mapa para las miniaturas.
También presenta fallos al tratar de cambiar la URL de Corrección de Alturas Online.
Al parecer  se reinicia o cierra al tratar de cambiar alguna opción que ya estaba configurada en la versión anterior (perfil).

I can confirm the crashes afgb1977 mentionened in beta 11. Moreover oruxmaps crashes when you try to change the language of the app.

Another issue:
From zoom level 17 and  higher moving the map is quite jerky whereas it was smooth in the versions before.

Hello. I am experiencing the same problem since the first 8.x.x version: Strava authorization is not remembered by OruxMaps, or breaks somehow. I have to re-authorize on Strava every time I want to upload a ride. If I do not, I get a GPX upload error. In older versions of OruxMaps (before 8 ), Strava authorization was only required once after installing the app.

I believed so far it was a wanted feature.

The problem is that Strava has changed its authentication token lifetime policies. Before they were much longer, for months (I do not remember when) they have been reduced to hours.

I'll update the beta shortly, to test a token renewal system, to see if it works ...

Hi Orux anche thank you for your job in the new Beta 8.2.12!

It is a very nice thing to be able to draw your own routes inside Oruxmaps using "Brouter offline".
I would like to point out some issues that could be corrected:

1) BRouter draws the route only after pressing the "blue button". Thus, Brouter has to draw a very long route, which passes through all waypoints. It would be better if Brouter draws the route every time a waypoint is added.  In this way, Brouter could only calculate the route between the last two waypoints and if you wouldn't like the route, you could change the last entered waypoint immediately.

2) It would be nice if you save the drawn route inside the Tracklog dir when you press the "blue button". Or you could add the Save route command inside the "new red navigation button".

3) the "Manage tracks/routes" command does not show the routes but only the tracks stored in the defalut directory (typically "oruxmaps/tracklogs").

4) the command "Import new tracks" also shows the routes. It would be nice to be able to edit a "loaded route" by moving waypoints and adding new ones.

1.-Asking Brouter is a heavy task; maybe as an option your suggestion. I will think about it.
2.-You always can save the created route to the folder if you click the fist waypoint of the route. It is not saved by default, because not all people want to save all searches.
3.-Manage your Tracks shows only the Tracks inside oruxmapstracks.db database. You can have more files (gpx, kml,...) in the folder, but if you want to show those routes when you click manage my tracks/routes you can import those gpx/kml,... to the database.
4.-After you impor a Track/route to the managed tracks/routes, you can edit them, and add/move/delete points.

You have to enable global settings-->waypoints-->Create first/last waypoint.
I have to check how the route is created in brouter, normally a first point was already included, so that setting was not necessary to have it activated, because the app does not create the first point if it already exists

I have to correct myself - the patterns, line, text and icons sizes are fixed, but the tile sizes are still not correctly scaled according to pixel density. Please have a look at the two screenshots of the same area in the latest OruxMaps Beta and Cruiser (Mapsforge reference implentation). At the same zoom level more area is shown in OruxMaps as the tiles are too small. In consequence the lines, which would be correctly scaled for larger tiles, get too thick for this tile size and details get hidden. In former OruxMaps Version the tile size was scaled correctly according to pixel density, in the current GP version this is off, too.

I guess it is the cause of what you see in different apps. The size greater than 512px, which the library chooses based on the pixel density of the screen, was causing problems with some things.

In the masforge map configuration (OruxMaps) you can change the scale factor, I don't know if changing it also modifies other things.

In the last beta I have left open again the option of sizes greater than 512px, possibly on your phone the display will be the same as other apps,

Thanks, that should be the culprit, as for my pixel density it should be somehting like 768px. The variable tile size is one thing that makes mapsforge maps great - exactly the same maps regardless of the device. With smaller tile sizes and everything else resized according to pixel density the maps get more cramped and themes don't work as they should. The scale factor helps with the latter, when use a scale factor smaller than 1, but then symbols and captions get too small to be legible.

But: with the beta15b the map still renders with too small tiles, something seems still to limit the tile size. 256px is the tile size for 160ppi displays, 512px for 320ppi, 768px for 480ppi etc.

Maybe you could add the possibility to manually sort these intents.
Another function could also be very useful:
Some websites use different coordinates (e.g. bayernatlas.de). When you could save the EPSG code within the intent, oruxmaps could open the website with converted coordinates.

+1 for the possibility to sort the intents and for specifying an EPSG code to use within the intent.
I would also ask for the possibility to add the heading as a parameter that can be passed to the intent. Some apps or web sites are accepting/expecting it.

Forgot to mention it: it my opinion 'Open another app in this position' should be the default option instead share as text.

Añadida la herramienta para mostrar zonas vistas entre dos puntos. A ver si funciona bien.

Hello Orux,

for example the coordinates for mount Zugspitze in WGS84 (EPSG 4326) are 47.4212142,10.9862969. Using these coordinates with OSM, peakfinder.org, PeakFinder (app) work fine. But bayernatlas.de expects coordinates in UTM zone 32 N (EPSG 25832) - for Zugspitze 649815.998930,5253886.389265.
With the possibility to enter an EPSG code in the edit intent dialog, oruxmaps could convert the coordinates with the built in coordinate converter and start the intent with the expected coordinates. This could be optional when EPSG 4326 is used as standard.

Just a small bug: You can't edit/delete the first entry in the list, so you have to move it down and then you can edit/delete it.

thank you for this new beta, EPSG codes and bounding boxes are indeed great additions to intents.

As I requested a few post above, would it be possible to add the heading as well? As an example where this can be useful, peakfinder.org has an optional azi (azimut) parameter, when it's set  the panorama will open looking in that direction, otherwise it opens looking to the East.

About the EPSG code, it seems more natural to me to specify it on a dedicated field in the form, ideally a drop down list, instead of putting it in the intent url. When in the url it looks like the website/app (ie geoportal.bayern.de) is expecting it as a parameter, which is not the case. I think that this may confuse users.

Finally, a small weirdness in the 'Seen Area' tool, not sure it is a bug: when entering 'Observer altitude', while typing on the keyboard the field is not updated, figures only appear in the field once the keyboard is closed.

As long as oruxmaps is not closed (only in the background), the order of the saved intents stays as manually sorted. After closing and restarting oruxmaps, the intents are listed in descending alphabetical order.

The removed intents:

The EPSG code; it is a problem in a dropdown (there are thousands of possible values).

In an additional field also a problem, users will not know what it means, or what it is for.

Most likely, users will use Intents that you publish those who know about this ;)

With the new option to export/import the Intents it will be easier.

The problem is internal to the app.

With the possibility of rotating the map, it is necessary to cache many images.

We are sometimes playing with the limits of the memory heap that Android leaves each app, very limited at times.

With small tiles, 512 or 256 px it is a bit easier to use less memory.

- los 2 intents por defecto siguen desaparecidos. El de OSM no pasa nada, con la nueva función de intents personalizados el que lo quiera lo puede crear. El geo creo que es importante tenerlo como valor por defecto y sin app asignada, así, el que no tenga intents personalizados aun podrá compartir la posición con otras apps en su dispositivo.

Los dos Intents por defecto no te aparecen, porque partes de una beta antigua; si instalas desde cero la última (exporta previamente tus Intents) o usas un perfil diferente, deben aparecer.

El fichero creado debe estar en oruxmaps/mapfiles/ o en otra carpeta, si has cambiado la ruta por defecto donde tienes los mapas.

El primer Intent de la lista no se puede borrar, es el por defecto. Si quieres borrarlo (y no es el último) puedes moverlo a otra posición, y borrarlo.

Los dos Intents por defecto no te aparecen, porque partes de una beta antigua; si instalas desde cero la última (exporta previamente tus Intents) o usas un perfil diferente, deben aparecer.

El fichero creado debe estar en oruxmaps/mapfiles/ o en otra carpeta, si has cambiado la ruta por defecto donde tienes los mapas.

La copia no me aparece en /storage/<TARJETA_SD>/Android/data/com.orux.oruxmaps/mapfiles, que es donde tengo configurada la carpeta de mapas así como todas las demás.

Pero es que me ocurre algo muy raro aquí. Me he dado cuenta hace algunas semanas, al probar los nuevos formularios para los waypoints, que estos no se guardaban. Puedo crear un formulario y al guardarlo me aparece en la lista, pero al volver otra vez a la lista, esta está vacía. En la carpeta customwpts, donde entiendo que se guardan los formularios, no aparece ningún fichero. Al crear el formulario y darle a guardar, oruxmpas no da ningún error.

Aquí creo me me sucede algo parecido, al exportar los intents la aplicación dice que lo ha hecho correctamente pero el fichero no aparece.

Al principio pensé que seria un problema de permisos en la carpeta customwpts. Hoy le he retirado los permisos a la app y vuelto a otorgar pero sigue igual. Aun mas extraño, el creador de mapas, que también escribe en la carpeta mapfiles, funciona perfectamente y otras funciones que tambien necesitan escribir ficheros en la SD, como exportar tracks, ..., también funcionan.

Nokia 7 Plus con Android 10 sin optimizadores de almacenamiento, anti virus ni cosas raras instaladas.

Alguna idea?

I can confirm both saving bugs Juanjo mentioned above when using an SD card: intents are not exported, waypoint types are not saved.

What I tried:
- I didn't uninstall the old beta version but updated it to beta 18.
-> Intents are not exported, waypoint types are not saved although oruxmaps has writing permissions (crating maps or exporting tracks works fine)
- I loaded the standard profile.
-> The bug still exists.

- I uninstalled beta 18 and reinstalled it, I loaded my user profile.
-> The bug still exists.
- I loaded the standard profile.
-> Waypoint types are saved, intents are exported to internal storage.

On Xiaomi Redmi 4x with MIUI Global 11.0.2

A ver con la última actualización de la beta. Si hay algún error, debe aparecer un mensaje.

Tengo varios teléfonos con Android 10, funciona bien el almacenamiento en la SD. Pero desde Android 9 es complejo el tema, Google lo ha cambiado varias veces. Y desde noviembre de este año será peor, en los teléfonos de Android +11 las apps ya no podrán acceder más que a sus carpetas propias, y a las compartidas en media (fotos, vídeos,...)

as Juanjo already wrote, saving of intents and waypoint types works as expected in beta 19 - thanks a lot.

Two suggestions concerning overlays:

- In beta 19 a starting and an end point are shown when you open a kml overlay and in the "Tweak Overlay" window they can be hidden (POIs). I think there should be possibility to hide these elements which are not included in the kml by default.
- The "hide" checkbox in the "Tweak Overlay" window is great as working with overlays becomes more intuitive and quicker. Maybe you could think about adding such checkboxes to the sub-overlays (I'm sure this is not the correct term). In the kml I attached: "ways" and "buildings".

saving created routes is quite inconsistent in Oruxmaps:
Whereas a manually drawn route (track/route tools - create route) is saved in the database automatically after creation, you don't even have the option to save a route made by route planners (BRouter, GraphHopper) in the database directly. The only way is to export it e.g. to a gpx file and import it into the database.

My suggestions:
After creation of a route (both manually and by route planner):
- ask if the route should be stored in the database
- do nothing but offer the option to store it in the database when hitting the start/end point of the route (I prefer this one.)

Maybe you could add the possibility of continuing an existing route both with "search route" and manually "create route". If you choose to continue a route, the finishing point of the existing route will automatically be used as the first point of the prolongation.
This feature will be especially useful when you want to combine routes created by a route planner and manually created routes.

It's really a great progress. And so is the progressive length indication.
When Broute draws a route the waypoints are not always appropriate. Some turns and junctions remain without waypoints, but perhaps this is Broute's problem.

I am very interested in map styles. I noticed that the .xml file does NOT have to be loaded in the mapstyles directory but in maps, otherwise it is not read by the application. Is this also the case with ate or am I wrong?

Now two things in my opinion could be improved:
1) Touching the screen with 2 fingers shows the distance between the two points.
2) Making the popup more concise and clearer when tapping on a POI.

A new beta uploaded!


The map styles (only applies to mapsforge maps) must be in mapstyles folder. In mapfiles folder must be the maps and .poi databases. Maybe you talk about waypoints databases?

Maybe you can explain a bit what you mean with "Touching the screen with 2 fingers shows the distance between the two points.". I think it will be difficult to detect when you want to measure distances or they are two consecutive touchs.
About the popup when you tap a waypoint. The information you see there is the waypoint description. The app does not know the attributes and attribute names. "name", "type",... are attributes added by the waypoints database builder, but they are not a standard set of them. The app shows all of them.

Gracias por esta nueva beta, me está empezando a gustar el nuevo menú lateral ese  :D
Aquí te pongo algunas observaciones hechas a bote pronto pero, por lo general, creo que esto va en la buena dirección.

- Las opciones del menú principal están mas separadas que antes pero aun se deberían de separar un poquito mas a mi gusto (y eso que tengo los dedos delgados ;-). Las de los submenus están igual de juntas que antes, deberían tener la misma separación que las del menú principal. Actualmente, en los submenus con pocas entradas (la mayoría) parece que están todas amontonadas ahí arriba

- En las opciones de tipo ON/OFF, ahora que se manejan con un switch, ya no es necesario poner Show/hide Lock/unlock etc. Basta con poner 'Lock screen', 'Show grid', ... Para la de 'Move map by hand/GPS' yo pondría 'Move map by hand' y debajo 'When GPS is active'

- El icono a la izquierda del menú debería de estar siempre alineado con este. Actualmente, cuando el menú tiene un comentario debajo, como en el caso de 'Seen area', el icono se centra y queda feo

- Idealmente, las opciones que se usan con mas frecuencia (claro que esto depende de cada cual) deberían ir por arriba en la lista. Aquí (https://wireframe.cc/MVnLDe)  intenté hacerlo con el menú 'Maps'

- Aunque parezca redundante, las opciones fijadas en la cabecera como 'Pronostico del tiempo', 'Computadora de viaje', ..., además de tenerlas ahí yo las pondría también en sus menús correspondientes, en cabeza de lista. Si no parece como que falta una opción en el menú.

I use many apps that show topographic maps, among them Oruxmaps is definitely the best!

In the Locus app, I saw two ideas that would be nice to have in Orux as well:

1) Measuring distances with two fingers. As you can see in the attached screenshot, when you place two fingers on the screen at the same time, two "lenses" are opened to precisely determine the start and end point of the measurement and a "red metric string" is drawn stretched between two red marks. In the middle the distance 8,9 km as the crow flies is indicated.

2) Showing the name of the POI. As you can see in the attached screenshot, when the pointer flies over a POI, or when you hold your finger still over a POI (you can choose the case in the options) a small window opens showing just the name of the POI, without too many other indications covering the screen.

With the latest betas I can not seem to be able to display a certain offline map I created with mobac from google maps featuring several omc2 tiles.
With the stable version 7.0.2 the map loads and displays correctly.

A lo mejor ya se lo hizo saber un compañero del grupo OruxMaps de Telegram, Felipe. Estuvimos hablando sobre si se podría añadir en la pantalla de satélites de la computadora de viaje el poder descargar datos A-GPS como hace la aplicación GPS STATUS.

De momento encontré un fallo en la última beta que también existía en la beta21 con la nueva característica Interfaz Unificada. Cuando vamos a Configuración Global viene activada por defecto pero la pantalla principal sale en modo normal. Para que se vea la Interfaz Unificada hay que desactivar la casilla, dar marcha atrás a la pantalla principal , volver a Configuración Global y despues activar.de nuevo. No sé si es un error generalizado o de mi teléfono. Por lo demás de momento va perfecta.

Me sumo también a las dos sugerencias de Paoloianes de poder tener esas mismas opciones que existen en Locus.

el tema este de la presentación de la información de los POIs ya se ha tocado mas veces por mi y por otros usuarios, por ejemplo aquí  (https://oruxmaps.org/forum/index.php?topic=34631.0) y aquí (https://oruxmaps.org/forum/index.php?topic=32654.0).

A mi juicio, este es probablemente el único aspecto donde oruxmaps va por detrás de otras aplicaciones similares. Por ejemplo, OsmAnd y Maps.me aquí lo bordan, presentan la información de una forma muy clara y basta un toque en la pantalla para llamar por teléfono a un restaurante o enviar un email etc. Locus tambien es superior en este aspecto.
Ahora bien, es verdad que las dos primeras aplicaciones están especializadas en OSM y Locus maneja sus propios POIs, lo que les da una ventaja en este aspecto, pero creo que oruxmaps podría sacar mucho mas provecho a la información que viene en la base de datos de POI de OpenAndroMaps.

Para hacernos una idea, la base de datos de España y Portugal contiene actualmente alrededor de 1300000 POIs. Ahí hay de todo, desde picos y volcanes hasta estaciones de carga para vehículos eléctricos pasando por bares, restaurantes, hoteles, comercios de todo tipo etc. Son estos últimos los que nos interesan aquí, pues suelen llevar asociada información de contacto como números de teléfono, email, ..., así como horarios de apertura. Mas cifras para estos aspectos, la base de datos contiene 69000 números de teléfono, 60000 enlaces a paginas web, 39000 enlaces a artículos de wikipedia, 18000 direcciones de correo electrónico e información sobre horarios de apertura de 44000 negocios de todo tipo.

Por último, todos los POIs llevan asociado un osm_id en el formato P/<osm_id> para los puntos, W/<osm_id> para las vías y R/<osm_id> para las relaciones. Con ese id se puede construir fácilmente un enlace a ese objeto en openstreetmap, por ejemplo el enlace del osmid=P/3021927218 seria https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3021927218, el de osm_id=W/4392583 https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/4392583 y el de osm_id=R/2928319 https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/2928319

Oruxmaps started out as an app for the purpose of recording the user's outdoor routes and allowing many different maps to be loaded.
Osmand, on the other hand, started out as a routing app and wants to make the most of the OMS data. Orux is much better with regard to the amount of maps you can load and how you can customise the map styles and user interface of the app (I really love the button sidebars).
Now that Oruxmaps has also very well developed routing features it would be nice to be able to take advantage of key/value POI fields like Osmand does, which is definitely but better in this feature as per the attached screenshot.

Ocurre algo extraño con los submenús laterales. Por ejemplo me voy al menú Map Overlays y con el submenú correspondiente cargo capas en el mapa, vuelvo al mismo menú y el submenú Limpiar Capas algunas veces aparece y otras no.
También me ha pasado en el menú Waypoints que el submenú Búsqueda en Mapa Offline aparece y desaparece.

De momento me di cuenta en esos casos, ya digo que ocurre aleatoriamente, no sé si se reproduce en más submenús.

Edito: Todo eso me ocurre en el modo Interfaz Unificada, con Modo Normal o Básico no lo he comprobado

Cuando pueda lo pruebo.

He visto la nueva opción añadida de cuando se toca un waypoint sale una burbuja. No sé si será posible hacerlo como Locus Map, con un cuersor central siempre visible en el mapa a pasar por encima de cualquier POI (de momento
OruxMaps solo lo hace en waypoints) automáticamentee sale la burbuja, creo que es más rápido y práctico.

El resto de novedades muy útiles. Gracias por el trabajo.

Edito: las burbujas de los PDI se ven si se carga el perfil GP

Thank you very much Orux for including the balloon when clicking on a POI in Beta 23!
It is a very important function in my opinion.

A few ideas, if you think it would be interesting to develop further:
- create a flaggable option to open the balloon when the pointer passes over a POI
- add the distance as the crow flies from the last GPS position
- and the altitude above sea level
- avoid "osm_id" inside the balloon
- create a button inside the balloon that, using Brouter, creates a route from the GPS point to the POI

OruxMaps already has 3 of the functions you are asking for.
- Activate the GPS and move around the map, Orux will show you the distance, heading, height difference and slope.
- The dashboard it can display 4 kinds of different heights. GPS elevation, DEM elevation, Barometer elevation and Height above the ground.
- The floating red button contains the navigation options, among them the search for routes with BRouter or Graphhopper, or the option to touch on the screen and navigate there.

You're basically asking for the same thing that the original popup menu contains.

Your are definitely right, what I meant was that you could put this data inside the balloon, as well as a button to create a route with Brouter directly from the balloon, not having to open the original popup as well.

I'm using Brouter via Oruxmaps.
It's a very good feature.
Is it possible to add points that don't follow the database of Brouter.
I have to do this sometimes  when the way I want to use is not a real road.
In Openrunner this function is implemented,  but it could be cool to have it directly in Oruxmaps.

I often load in Oruxmaps a GPX route that I want to follow during my outdoor activities. But these routes don't have waypoints.

It would be nice if Brouter could create proper waypoints within these routes, so that you could follow the route with the help of the audio messages from Oruxmaps.

Con la herramienta BRouter no puede añadir waypoints pero lo puede hacer con el editor de tracks.

Perdón, no entiendo muy bien. Cuando creo una ruta con BRouter me sale los waypoints de los giros que tengo que realizar y me avisa si así lo tengo configurado en avisos de voz y alarmas.

Let me try to explain: when you upload a route via an external GPX file (let's call it "route A" from www.xxxxxx.org), you would like to follow the route with Oruxmaps voice messages.
To get the voice messages, you need waypoints that tell you what to do (for a route of 50 km let's say 200 waypoints like: turn right, turn left, etc.).
To get this kind of waypoints, you have to create a "route B" through Orux's "create routes" tool (which uses Broute): by hand you have to trace every single point of "route A" (or, at least, every single turn). It would be nice if Orux could "feed" Broute with "route A", so that Broute would automatically create the "route B" with waypoints in Orux.

Alguien puede arrojar luz sobre mi duda ?

Activa la casilla o icono de la Altitud DEM.

Ahora se de que hablas, con: 1. Enables the DEM height display in the dashboard. ni idea.
De todos modos esa opción que si tengo activa es solo para mostrar el dato pero no para registrarlo en los track ni hacer la suma que es la opción 2 que yo no veía.
Todo fue un lapsus mio porque no encontraba donde se indicaba al programa que tomase las alturas de los DEM, y temía que se hubiese cambiado algo sin enterarme :-)

Bug in Beta 24

Hello Orux,
I noticed that in Beta 24 the "progressing time" does NOT update appropriately.

I am using a Huawei NOVA 5T with Android 10 (last patches and so on).

See the screenshot attached, it shows 6 sec while are actually 34 sec elapsed.
This data looks to be updated randomly now, while in the past it was working fine (as I remember).

It depends on your GPS settings and/or automatic segment creation.

If you are not moving (or you are moving very slowly), and you have a minimum distance to save the points (GPS settings), the timer may not advance.

If you don't move and you have some value for automatic segment creation if there is no movement, it can happen too.

If you have in GPS settings minimum time and minimum distance to zero, it must be continuous.

en la beta 26 si se usa oruxmaps como fuente de datos simulados, al dejar de hacerlo dándole a parar en la notificación de la barra de estado de android, al activar el GPS no pilla nada, como si siguiese usando las posiciones simuladas. Para que volviese a funcionar he tenido que apagar/encender el teléfono.

Otra cosa, esto que mencioné hace algun tiempo sigue igual, no se si es un fallo o que funciona así.

Respecto a los datos simulados; no lo puedo reproducir, dame alguna pista más. ¿simulas alguna ruta/fichero? ¿estás grabando lo que simulas? ...
Sobre las zonas vistas. Lo he cambiado en la beta que acabo de publicar; no lo puedo reproducir, pero ya son varios los casos.
La declinación, ya se debe poder meter negativa.

The GP and free versions are different, they don't update at the same rate.

Ahora mismo me está pasando con un móvil Xiaomi con Android 10 y Miui 12.0.5 y un Blackview Android 7.0.

Edito: no recuerdo si ya se comentò.¿En la vista de satélites se podría añadir la opción de poder descargar datos A-GPS?

- When completing an manually created route beta 27 crashes.
- I have the "seen area" button in the left button bar in beta 26. After installing beta 27 it was replaced by the button for the new measuring tool.

Respecto a los datos simulados; no lo puedo reproducir, dame alguna pista más. ¿simulas alguna ruta/fichero? ¿estás grabando lo que simulas? ...
Sobre las zonas vistas. Lo he cambiado en la beta que acabo de publicar; no lo puedo reproducir, pero ya son varios los casos.
La declinación, ya se debe poder meter negativa.

lo de los datos GPS simulados olvidalo. He intentando reproducirlo hoy de varias maneras sin conseguirlo. La vez que me ocurrió estaba simulando un track mio y grabándolo, hoy he hecho lo mismo, grabando y sin grabar y funciona perfectamente.

Un pequeño fallo en la nueva beta, el mensaje de información de la herramienta de medir distancias aparece siempre, aun después de haber seleccionado 'No mostrar otra vez'

El pronóstico de tiempo funcionaba así solo en la beta, para pruebas. EL API que consulto tiene un número limitado de consultas, por eso solo se permite consultar el tiempo en tu ubucación, que se cachea.
Sobre la altitud errónea. ¿tienes activado el proveedor de localizaciones fusionadas en los ajustes del GPS? Si es así, esa altitud es diferente a la que proviene solo del GPS.

En la nueva función de medir distancia con dos dedos cuando está activada si se necesita mover el mapa no se puede ó hacer zoom con dos dedos tampoco (esto último me parece lógico). Quizás eso se pueda solucionar activando la nueva función con pulsación larga sobre la pantalla.

Y ya puesto.... en esta característica podría verse con efecto lupa los  puntos extremos? La misma sugerencia para la vieja y conocida opción de medir distancia.

Para qué se vea que mapas tiene como opción para curvas de nivel antes debe descargarlos. Deben ser Mapsforge.

Es una propuesta, en mis rutas con Oruxmaps el tf va en una bolsa que lo protege y dificulta el acceso para encender la pantalla, yo vengo utilizando hace tiempo la aplicación de google para activarla con OK GOOGLE y luego VER PANTALLA que no siempre funciona bien.

Quizá seria posible implementar un comando de voz en Oruxmaps para este u otros fines?

Para usar la función curvas de nivel,necesitas tener primero un mapas offline mapsforge,te recomiendo de OAM

Después tienes que ir a configuración global/Mapas/ajustes mapsforge/mapas para curvas de nivel y selecciónas tu mapa mapsforge.
Una vez configurado vas a la pantalla de Oruxmaps pulsas icono mapa/Opciones de capa/curvas de nivel
Te recomiendo uses mapas satélite para una mejor apreciación.

$GPGSV,3,1,10,29,80,187,23.6,25,60,044,14.2,31,39,313,31.2,39,36,139,*65
Envía valores decimales, donde deberían ser enteros. Ya lo he cambiado para la próxima versión.

qué teléfonos son?

Sobre la diferencia de altura, esposible que el teléfono esté usando un modelo de geoide diferente, no use los valores que envía el GPS. Si la diferencia es de pocos metros, 2-3, es posible que sea eso. Mira si coincide restando/sumando alguno de los dos valores de altura de geoide que proporciona la vista satélite cuando pulsas el ?

Hola Orux.

Los modelos son Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro con
Android 10 y MIUI 12.0.5 . El otro un Blackview BV6000 con Android 7

El que me va bien es un Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 con Android 7.

No sé si tendrá algo que ver que los dos primeros tienen procesadores Mediatek (distintos) y el otro Snaodragon. A lo mejor es una tontería lo que acabo de escribir.

A veces la diferencia de alturas son solo 2 ó 3 metros y otras aproximadamente unos 50 pero no coincide si sumo o resto los otros valores.

En apps como GPS Status o GPS Test sí me aparecen los satélites en uso. Lo mismo con la vista satélite de la app Locus Map.

En la beta28 al activar el GPS y hacer un movimiento en el mapa queda una barrita negra antes de retornar a su lugar. Creo que puede ser un fragmento de la barra de datos que se ve cuando se hace el desplazamiento con GPS activado .

Ahora sí. La altitud del cuadro de mandos coincide con Altitud MSL (NMEA geoide) que clava la altitud real de mi ubicación.

Adjunto captura de la vista de satélites. Me di cuenta que añadiste la opción de descargar los datos AGPS.

Haciendo pruebas con beta29 vi que la herramienta para medir termina con círculos semitransparentes, creo que se vería mejor si fueran totalmente transparentes.
También se me hace un poco extraño ver que ahora los datos se ven en negro sobre fondo gris claro.

También el icono del botón de grabar perdió su punto rojo

Llevas razón aparece ese error cuando no se tiene activada la casilla que adjunto como captura de pantalla. Actívala y comprueba

You are right, by checking this option it's working... but before this b29 version,  it wasn't the same way to work. No need to activate the option "line to the last position" and it was nice.
Perhaps Orux can change this and come back to the previous behaviour...

Hola Juanjo, haz la prueba con el perfil por defecto. A mi ese fallo que indicas me ocurre con el perfil personalizado. No es la primera vez que me ocurre. Ya comenté un caso en el grupo de Telegram.

Si viste mi pantallazo ocurre con el mapa de OAM y cualquier Mapsforge. Si quiero hacer una búsqueda offline con el perfil por defecto no me sale esa opción en los submenús. Con mi perfil personalizado sí, pero después de hacerla aparece el icono como capas cargadas pero no se ve nada, tuve que añadir a la botonera el botón de mostrar/ocultar capas. Es como si este botón estuviera activado en ocultar capas.

correcto. En la barra de estado aparece el icono que indica que hay una capa cargada pero los POIs no se ven.

no, no aparece como oculta. Al darle a 'Ajustar capas' aparece la capa con la fecha y la hora, la opción ocultar no está seleccionada.

Ahora, al comprobar esto he encontrado otro fallo. Al borrar la capa usando la opción que sale al darle a 'Ajustar capas', el icono de la barra de estado indicando que hay capas cargadas sigue ahí, y la opción 'Limpiar capas' está desactivada pues ya no hay capas sobre el mapa. Esto es así con todo tipo de capas, no solo la de la búsqueda de POIs.
Entiendo que al borrar capas de esta manera el icono debería desaparecer de la barra de estado al borrarse la ultima capa del mapa.

Tuve que poner el botón de mostrar/ocultar mapas porque al principio sale el mensaje y el icono de capas cargadas pero no las mostraba

Estás visualizando un mapa online (no es mapsforge por tanto) por eso por defecto no aparece la opción de buscar en el mapa. En el perfil por defecto no has fijado la base de datos .poi en la que se debe buscar, que siempre está asociada a un mapa mapsforge.

Ese botón es para ocultar/mostrar los waypoints en las capas precisamente. Su valor se guarda entre reinicios.
Si dejas los waypoints visibles, y sales de la app, la siguiente vez se verán. Si sales y dejas los wpts ocultos, la siguiente vez tampoco se verán.

El mapa es el (OAM) abreviado de OpenAndroMaps por tanto es Mapsforge y offline.

La configuración para que se vean los POIs creo que la tengo bien, adjunto pantallazo.

De todas formas ya di con la solución, deseando que llegue la versión final a GP.

En la imagen que subiste, aparece cargado el mapa OpenStreetMap Mapnik, que es online, por eso te decía que tienes que tener cargado (en el visor de mapas, no simplemente descargado en la carpeta de mapas) un mapa mapsforge.

Me equivocaría porque estaría haciendo la prueba con varios mapas pero estoy seguro que con el de OAM me pasaba.

Además en la GP con el OpenStreetMap Mapnik no tengo ningún problema, me aparece el submenú y muestra las búsquedas. Adjunto captura.

La beta29 ya dije que supe solucionar el problema, hice otro perfil distinto. No es la primera vez que tuve problemas con los perfiles personalizados, tuve que borrar y empezar de 0 pero configurando de la misma manera.

he puesto ese botón en la botonera y al darle me ha salido la capa de waypoints. Lo que no sé es porque no me salia antes pues yo no uso ese botón, con lo cual no podía haber desactivado la capa.
De todas maneras, problema resuelto.

that for the new high resolution 0.5" DTM for Austria [DTM Austria 0.5" v2 by Sonny], OruxMaps does not indicate elevation on the dashboard [Elevation (DTM)/Höhe (DTM) shows "--- m"] for these 0.5" .hgt-tiles, while elevation for neighboring 1" hgt-tiles is correctly displayed.
Likewise, creating a track by hand yields waypoints with elevation 0.

I have updated the Basque (eu) translation with the missing bits. Ready for the 8.5 version!

I'm testing 8.5.0RC5 and migrate to SD card does not work.

When I press START it seems to work and says that the migration was successful, but actually only a few of the folders have moved, the tracklogs and mapfiles folders have not been moved (and they're the big ones that I really want to move). Then it asks me if I want to delete the files on the internal storage, if I press yes it just seems to get stuck forever with a spinning icon, when I check in a file manager none of the files are being deleted. I then have to force close Orux Maps.

If I copy the files to the /oruxmaps folder on the SD card manually and change the locations of the directories in the App Storage settings page, Orux Maps just ignores these and uses the folders in the internal storage anyway. For example if I move the tracklogs folder to the SD card and change the directory to the SD card, when I go to the track manager it is blank and a new blank oruxmapstracks.db file is created in the internal storage/oruxmaps/tracklogs folder. If I move the tracklogs back from the SD card to the internal storage, my track reappear even though the setting still says it's using the SD card.

As a source of the location data, I use the internal GPS sensor of my Huawei (P20 Pro). For both apps, I have disabled the automatic shutdown and the various battery saving functions, so that the phone cannot close them.
But it seems that this did not work for Orux. In the last month I have noticed that Sports Tracker constantly and correctly records the track (compared to the theoretical measures the error is about 4%). Orux, on the other hand, often stops recording. For this reason the track is about half shorter. I also set the option related to how the mobile phone is positioned (vertical or horizontal) to horizontal (I noticed that if the option is set to "vertical phone" but the phone is kept up side down, then the recording stops every time the screen is turned off.
I would like to understand better how this option relating to the horizontal or vertical position of the phone works.
Above all I would like to understand why, all things being equal (same phone, same GPS data, same battery saving options, etc.), only Orux - and not Sports Tracker too - stops recording the track every few minutes.

Prueba ir a configuración global, después "sensores" y activa la casilla dónde pone "Proveedor de localizaciones fusionadas".

Haciendo eso a lo mejor le funciona bien.
